KYLIE was found early this morning by a motorist on his way to work. She had been hit by a car and did not survive. We are all heartsick. Despite our best efforts, sometimes there are tragic outcomes. Thank you to our many friends and colleagues, who're always so supportive and make our lives easier. We know you share our grief.

Well said.

The 3-3-3 rule is a guideline for transitioning an adopted dog into its new home and helping it to settle in. It suggests that the first three days should be used for adjusting to its new surroundings, the next three weeks for training and bonding, and the first three months for continued socialization and training.

Something to think about.

Great news: Ritchie has found his permanent home with Julie! He's back in northern California and acclimating quickly to his new environment. He'll have a very active life on a property with acreage and livestock, plus an owner who understands herding breeds and enjoys training. Lots of exercise and fun times are in store for this boy!
Many thanks to all of you who helped us on this journey. Your posts and encouraging messages were appreciated! And thanks to Carol, his first adopter, for recognizing that Ritchie needed more than she could give him.

Dear people,
It’s me again: Ritchie! I’m still waiting for my forever home! Remember, I was a stray, wandering the streets and picked up by a shelter. NorCal Sheltie Rescue took me in and they’re looking for just the right home for me. Here’s a list of my positive qualities:
• Young
• Healthy
• Handsome
• Housetrained
• Crate trained
• Neutered
• Microchipped
• Up to date with vaccinations
• Sleep through the night
• Gentle with food and treats
• Affectionate

I’m still learning, though, and I would love to go to dog school. An experienced owner could really help me become the dog I want to be. Here’s what I’m working on:
• Walking on leash
• Paying attention to owner
• Not reacting to distractions

As I said before in my first post, my best quality is that I love people and I’m very free with my affection. My ideal home has a large fenced yard, no other pets, no young children (I might want to chase them), and people who are willing to train me. I promise to give back lots of love in return.

If you’d like to adopt me, please contact my rescuers at [email protected] for more information. Please consider me and recognize that I’m a work in progress, with the potential of becoming a really great dog!

Warmly,
Ritchie

BAD NEWS. Ritchie's San Diego area adoption has not worked out. He's a large boy, 51 lbs., with some fear issues to be worked through. It comes out in leash aggression. He needs to learn how to play nice with smaller creatures too. Ritchie is loving, affectionate and a wonderful companion to his human. He may be younger than three years old (he came to us from a shelter where he was brought in as a stray). Current on vaccinations and is neutered. Rides well in the car. We really need help from the Sheltie loving public and from the dog loving community at large. Please get in touch if you can help with giving Ritchie a chance at a good life! [email protected]

LOST Sheltie SACRAMENTO Midtown!
We were shopping at the Co-Op, my hands full of groceries and when I opened my car door, something must had scared my Toy Size, Sable and White Sheltie, because he jumped out and ran for it. His name is Max, he is really mahogany and white, 2 year old male. He is quite small for a Sheltie, he was a rescue, he is very afraid of adult male put loves women. Be very careful because he will bite. He has on a military colored vest with his rabies tags. Please notify us through Craigslist. [email protected]
Thank You.

Someone has posted that NCSR currently has an online store. We do not. We closed it a few years back due to lack of volunteers to operate it.

We're not getting any interest in Ritchie. This is very concerning!
