If you have received spam emails from Viva Raw (pet food) and CatBreederHub (rival site) as a result of your FBRL listings, I apologize. I have asked them to stop sending emails to listers as I have not given them permission to use my site for marketing purposes.

Since I don't expect this will have any impact on their activity, just judge their motivations accordingly, please.

I apologize for another delay. My mother passed away a week ago Friday. I spent most of last week out of town for her funeral and am now just getting back into the swing of things. I’ll get to every outstanding thing, I promise.

So I realize I'm quite behind on updates right now; I'm dealing with a personal situation: my mother is in a nursing home in year 7 of vascular dementia, and she's dying. This may be hours, or days, or possibly even weeks, depending on how things are going, so I've been making trips up and back (150 miles one way) as developments occur. I plan to get some updates done tomorrow, but I appreciate any patience everyone has at this time.

So I've just put a request in to the web developers to add listing banners for every year, not just for the "5" years. I don't know exactly when this will go live as there needs to be some graphic development time, but shortly you'll see how many years breeders have been listed in years other than just 5, 10, 15, etc.

Still recovering from COVID. The stunning calico is Chromie, the former feral who hasn’t let me pet her more than a dozen times in 22 months. Today, this happened. I’m resisting petting her because I want her to get comfortable with this major breakthrough with no pressure. I hope we have rounded a big corner. Cats are an advanced lesson in consent and patience.

Just letting folks know that I was diagnosed with COVID this morning, so updates and other requests are going to be delayed for a bit. Thankfully Nurse Clive is on the job.

Just a heads up - in November or December, I'm very likely going to need to change payment processors. The one I'm with has been buggy at best. The last straw was that my payment system is down this weekend, and they have NO one minding their system over the weekends.

So while this will be a big hassle, I hope to find a system that isn't so frustrating to deal with and offers more options to all of you.

The FBRL has changed its logo!

As many of you are aware, CFA recently introduced a logo which was functionally similar to the one I had been using over the past few years. I will admit I was less than pleased with the development at the time, but I chose to remain silent on the subject publicly and things eventually got worked out behind the scenes. As a long-term contributor to the cat fancy, I did not want a battle in the court of public opinion.

To make a very long and convoluted story short, given the generally negative press this whole episode generated, I decided that I didn't even want my old logo anymore. Instead, I commissioned a new one. I hope you are as pleased with it as I am! The site has been rebranded with the new logo as of this afternoon. It will take a little while to get all my various social media and print converted. If you see my old logo hanging around anywhere, please let me know so I can change it to the new one.

CFA and I came to private terms over the logo issue and we're friendly again. I would greatly appreciate it if we can put this whole episode behind all of us.

It's finally happened: I got my first scammer trying to change a customer's information to theirs. I always look carefully at changes before I make them, and I'm glad I did because I instantly spotted this website as a classic kitten scam - https://www.friendlyrussianblue.com/. I have alerted the targeted customer as well as the Russian Blue Breed Council/Committee secretaries for CFA and TICA, since these often contain stolen pictures. I will also be reporting this site to various cat scam places I know about.

I apologize to my customers for being slow on updates this week. My family has been hit with a double whammy this week: my mother (who is in a nursing home with advanced dementia) contracted COVID, and my nephew passed away unexpectedly. I expect to get back on track this weekend.

I had an email from someone reaching out to me to try to determine if this was a scam. It's 100% a scam. They requested payment via Zelle (a cash app with no consumer protections) to an address in France, even though they are supposedly located in California. The person who answered the phone could not answer even basic questions about the kitten without resorting to a script. Anyone with even a basic knowledge of how catteries operate realizes this is a super fishy site, and there are several telltale mistakes on the site that point to it being a fly-by-night website. Be aware! https://kittenscams.com/kittens/delightfulabyssiniancattery-com-kittens-breeder-scam-review/

Scam - Avoid at all costs. Delightfulabyssiniancattery.com do not sell Kittens.

Pet scammers are, unfortunately, all too common. It's big business. This podcast episode is a great start for understanding how the scammers work. https://www.aarp.org/podcasts/the-perfect-scam/info-2021/pet-scam.html

As more households add pets as companions during the coronavirus outbreak, scammers see the increase in demand as an opportunity for fraud.

Any Devon breeders recognize these boys?

UPDATE ON PERCY AND TRITON!
***Update - if interested please contact the shelter directly!

6/8 update on the boys:
Just talked to the shelter. They have had quite a few applications and are sorting through for the best home possible. They do not have to stay in Kansas, but you do have to get them. Most of the day they are free reign and she said they seem quite happy. I have again offered to pull and they have declined. They will see the vet on this THURSDAY and no home decisions made until after that time.
***if you are interested in these boys, apply thru their website. Do not just show up, as you will not be leaving with cats.

Perry and Triton

Bonded brothers in Kansas. 3 years old. Man, they are cute. Owner passed away and his wife has dementia, so granddaughter surrendered them. I have talked to the shelter and they said healthy, neutered, definitely have to stay together. They don't think other cats bother them but can do a test if you need them to. https://www.petfinder.com/cat/percy-51806888/ks/valley-falls/jefferson-county-humane-society-inc-ks150/
