Inured dog found on on Mesa Street. Female, has a faded white collar no tags estimated age 3 years needs the owner to reclaim dog pronto. Should go to a veterinarian to avoid any possible infection.

This little guy was found on 07/06/2024 on I-80 at the 410 on ramp. After the officers desperately tried to secure the dog a couple (Mr. Jorge and Sandra Iturrieta) were able to secure it for the officers. After doing so the couple was constantly calling about the welfare of the dog and if the dog's custodian had come forward. After the hold had lapsed they committed to adopting the dog. They live in Salt Lake City, Utah and drove back to West Wendover and adopted the dog. We are indeed grateful for their actions due to the dog being extremely fearful of people. . Amazingly the dog warmed up to them. A big shout out to them both. Happy Trails my small friend..

Our office will be closed on Thursday, July 4th for our staff to enjoy Independence Day. We will have a doctor on call if any emergencies should arise.
On Friday, July 5th we will be open from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Saturday we will be open for normal business, 8:00am to 12:00pm.
We hope all of our patients and clients have a fun and safe holiday!

Thank you Humane Society of Northern Utah for rescuing a mother cat and kittens. Also, thank you to the Endless Pawsibilities from Elko Nv for the food donation. This food will go towards rescues, new adoptions, and home bound seniors. Great people making a difference in animal welfare.

Update! Great news she has been adopted.
Small cutie up for adoption! Female aprox 1 year old. Video in comments ( go check it out). Please fill out adoption paperwork at the WWPD or call dispatch at 775-664-4393 to set up a time to meet her. She has been at the shelter and was found at large. Unfortunately, nobody has come to claim this sweet girl. We don’t have any additional information on her at this time.

Huge shout to Dr. Robin Eldridge and Tracy Greenwell from Eldridge Veterinary out of Ely Nevada. They came out to perform surgeries for our first TNR/ and low cost s/n for cats. Special thank you to ACO Alex Peterson for all time and effort into trapping (wrangling) and releasing the feral cats. Thank you Alyssa for assisting with the local check in today. Thank you Peppermill and of course the City of West Wendover for helping make this happen. It was very successful. We are making efforts to control the pet population, and invite you to join us. We will be doing another TNR and low cost spay and neuter clinic for cats this year. Please keep a look out for more information.

Attention cat owners: Eldridge Veterinary will be at the West Wendover Animal Shelter tomorrow Saturday April 20th at 10:00 am. They are offering a low cost spay/ neuter for 15 cats only. No food or drink for the cat after midnight. Cat must come in a LARGE Dog kennel so your cat can recover in it.
Cost:
Female 66.00
Male 36.00
First come first serve, limit 2 cats per family, must pay cash, must pick up your cat at 3 pm.
This is a one day event. 15 cats only.

Say hello to Toby! He is a 4 year old male, Corgi type around 10 to 15 lbs. He is up for immediate adoption or rescue. Toby’s owner has passed away and he is definitely scared in the shelter. Yesterday was unbelievable! 8 Great Pyrenees puppies, 3 hound pups, 6 kittens and momma cat, and one precious shep mix were rescued out of our shelter. It was a huge group effort. I want to thank Brad Hillaker and his officers, Kurt, Alex, Paws for life St. George Utah, Great Pyrenees rescue of Utah and Montana, Shelby and Linda for pulling off this huge transport to different locations.
As of last night all of these animals have received shots, dewormed if needed, scheduled for spay or neutering if old enough and the pups got a bath. Off to a better life.
Yesterday was a great day, we saved 18 lives, but it doesn’t always work out this way, unfortunately. Please realize that if you surrender your animal they are subject to euthanasia. If you leave a box a puppies at Ferguson and they get turned in to West Wendover they are subject to euthanasia, if you tie your dog up at the shelter it’s subject to euthanasia. We still have 11 animals at the shelter that are subject to euthanasia. We have great stories but we have incredibly sad ones as well.
