Adoption! Fur-Ever Home Rescue is always in need of volunteers - just some of

the opportunities include conducting reference and vet checks, making evaluation home visits, transporting to and from vet visits and shelters to foster homes, and fostering. We need help posting our dogs on our 4 partner sites, making and posting flyers at our vet office and pet stores, arranging transport. Above all, we are ALWAYS in need of good Fur-Awhile Homes (foster homes) while our rescues recover from medical treatment or while awaiting their Fur-Ever Homes. We are a foster-based organization. Meetings with our rescue dogs must be pre-arranged with us as you will be visiting a private home. Having our dogs in Fur-Awhile Homes allows them to begin to make the transition from shelter life to a normal home and family life. It gives us the opportunity to identify training opportunities, energy levels and personality traits so that we can better match the dog to his or her potential new family. From our inception in May, 2012 to now, we have placed over 1300 dogs into new homes, all of them either rescued from shelters or owner-surrendered pets. For an adoption application, please visit our web site at www.fureverhomerescue.org. We require all pets to be spayed or neutered when age appropriate. All pets receive age-appropriate vaccinations, a vet check, any medical treatment required and a micro chip.

**Adopted thru MLCR**

Malachi, a fawn male Cane Corso turned 2 years of age on January 13, 2024, this handsome hunk of a dude is ready to find a family who is as special as he is.. His foster family fondly refers to him as ‘Drax the Destroyer’ (in a funny way). This gentle, sweet, and playful boy stares right into your eyes and you see nothing but kindness. I honestly think he represents Drax in more ways than one (if you’re a marvel fan) with his big heart, strength, loyalty, and goofy way. Malachi is a 100% Velcro dog who loves to snuggle on your lap if you can tolerate all 140lbs of him. Never again will making dinner be in solitude as this boy will be right by your side. Laundry day—no problem—Malachi is there to provide moral support until the job is done; however, be careful with socks as he is a thief and will try to eat them. Private time in the restroom—not with Malachi in the house as this is his favorite time to do a slobbery drive by to make sure you are ok. Exercises or stretches on ground—Malachi will encourage with a few small kisses or intensify your work out by leaning into you providing some extra resistance training!

Malachi’s foster siblings include a 7year-old female Corso and an 11month-old female heeler. He adjusts his level of play according to the dog he is playing with. For example, if playing with the heeler, he hops with her and lays on his side or back permitting her to climb on him. While playing with the female Cane Corso the intensity of play is appropriate to two large dogs rough housing. Also, on the farm are a full-sized horse and two miniature donkeys to which he has grown accustomed too, check out his picture of him leading the donkeys on their daily stroll around the neighborhood. Chickens are a bit much for this boy so if his adoptive family has chickens they will need to be secured as he will give chase. Malachi has an unknown history with cats but since he chases chickens, MLCR will avoid adopting him to homes with cats. From the information given regarding Malachi’s former life, he was raised with children and while in foster care he met a few children (as young as 3 years of age) to which he did wonderfully with. He really hasn’t met a stranger whether it be short, tall, chunky, slender, hairy, bald, male, female—he really hasn’t met anyone he doesn’t like—airplane propelled nubby goes a mile a minute in anticipation of gaining a new friend. In fact, Malachi may prefer MEN over women!

True to the breed, Malachi is super intelligent already knowing many basic commands such as “sit, down, paw, and in” and is currently working on “wait, come, and back up”. Treat motivated and eager to please his humans, Malachi is always ready to learn more. He is house and crate trained; however, he does exhibits separation anxiety; therefore, he would be happiest in a home where his humans are home most of the time, he thrives with the companionship of other dogs, and requires a heavy-duty crate such as the one in the picture (SMONTER). If slobber is gross, then Malachi is NOT your guy as he is a drooler especially after visiting the water bowl, but he is accustomed to having his mouth wiped with a drool rag. Baths and nail trims are now part of his routine.

Malachi is an overall amazing boy so amazing that his foster would be adopting him if life circumstances were right to do so but they aren’t so here he is available and ready! He is neutered, housebroken, crate trained, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and current on preventative care for heartworm, fleas, and ticks. He is currently being fostered in OH but can be transported beyond OH by our wonderful Corso Cabbie volunteer network. If you think this sweet, well-mannered boy would be a great fit for your family, please apply to adopt as he is ready for you to welcome him home! https://mustlovecorsosrescue.org/applications/adopt-foster/ On the other hand, if you are already approved to adopt through MLCR and would like to add Malachi to the family then email us at [email protected].

Well, yesterday was my Big Boy Dunkin's 4th birthday. Yep, he was born on St. Valentine's Day, which is fitting because of the Huge Heart he has and all the Love he gives us! We went for walkies on the boardwalk (almost 2 miles in all), stopped at DQ where he had a double cheeseburger and a Pup-Cup with 3 extra treats (the server just adored him), and of course he was loved on and had pictures taken by around 20 people, which is a lot for a weekday in winter at the beach. Then he had a pedicure (nails dremeled) and lastly, a 3/4 lb steak (raw, cut into 1" cubes) with dinner. He was pooped and crashed in his bed around 8pm.

Well, today is the day, twenty years in the making. Twenty years ago this evening, my Beloved Wife, the Love of my Life, my Soul Mate and I met face to face for the first time. There I was, standing at the glass front door of the Rock Bottom Grille, looking at her, and she at me, when I pulled on the door and took what should have been my first step into the relationship I had been waiting on God to reveal to me. Problem was, it was a push door and I stepped face first into it instead. I still remember seeing her through the door, holding her hand to her mouth, gently laughing to spare my manhood no doubt. I smiled, pushed the door open, and took my first step into the best thing to happen to me since the birth of my two sons. Kelly has been my Rock in hard times, the Gentle Arms into which I retreated when I needed comfort, and the raging b*tch I needed to turn me around when I was being a selfish wa**er. From declaring our Love for one another 100 feet apart (me on St Peter Street and her on Bourbon Street) in New Orleans (after only being together for a couple of months), to a New Year’s Eve proposal on an empty dance floor (ask me sometime and I’ll tell you a great story) 7 months later, and another 19+ years of Love, Laughter, Romance, and too many good times to list her, she has made the last twenty years of my life the best 20 years of my life! What about the hard times you ask? Well, ya’ see, when I had my two blood strokes, my two TIA’s, and my two Ischemic strokes, in His infinite Wisdom, the Good Lord decreased the memory bank in my brain. Kelly has given me so many good memories, there is no room left for any bad ones. That is, if there were any to begin with. Kelly, My Love, My Darling, My Wife, THANK YOU for Twenty Glorious Years, and I promise you Twenty Glorious Years in return!

Today, Bastian arrived for his closeup. This handsome devil is still in search of a fur-ever home. He would do best with an frequently-home mom (dad would be tolerated). Came to us as a furry snapping turtle - but has learned to dog. He's still shy, but does well socializing with other dogs. He's nervous of big humans and has no experience with little humans - patience and calm are key to a successful match. He has maxed out around 23 lbs.

Maggie needs a local foster or adopter . She's an older girl with lots of love and life left to give. Maggie was adopted from us as a puppy along with her "sister" Song, and they both came back into rescue when their dad passed away from cancer. She weighs in at about 50 pounds. She's got some energy left and would love to go on walks or hang out in the yard with her peeps, but loves to snuggle as well. She would do best with someone home a lot. Adoption fee is $100, and will waive it for qualified/ approved veteran or senior adopter.
