After changing up LILO’s antibiotics, her appetite came back as well 🙏🏼 Our current regimen includes a variation of cod, salmon, chicken, scrambled eggs, and a small portion of brown rice or plain pasta. For supplements, she gets a mix of: Pumpkin powder, RoseHip Vital Canine, Synacore, and Manuka Honey (together, it helps settle her tummy & gives her a boost in immunity & supports joint health).

Lilo Health Update: for most of July, Lilo was having a digestive crisis (no appetite, vomiting, diarrhea & bloody stool), on top of her pre-existing conditions (CHF, UTI). Poor little grandma was miserable and had no energy or drive. Despite her tender age of 16, she was just not herself. After a 2nd set of labs, X-rays, and urinalysis…we discovered NOTHING 🥹 No major issues seen on her scans, slight elevation in liver, kidney, and pancreatic levels, and an ongoing, stubborn UTI. They switched up her antibiotics, and after a few days our [almost] 16yo princess is back to her spicy self, and is eating well again 🙏🏼 We’ve become regulars at the Vets office this past year 🫣

Get Ready With Me! Lilo lost control of her bladder and bowels when she became paralyzed with IVDD in 2012. We change LILO’s diaper at least 4-5x everyday. Whatever doesn’t come out naturally, must be manually expressed! This is what works for us! She wears an XS pet diaper by Vet’s Best for lighter volume (2-4 hours), and a size S for heavier volume (4+ hours/overnight). During the day while we’re home, she’ll also wear an outer diaper to collect any accidental poops 😆 This separation-combo also helps reduce risk of UTI (especially for females). When we are not home (or for overnight), she uses the Drag Bag!
