Fundraising Goal: $3000 for 6 spays/neuters this month!💰

Of the 25 foster cats in care, 15 require sterilizations, 6 of which have to be done within this next month to prevent any unwanted litters in the foster space. Mama cats can become pregnant right away after giving birth and their kittens are capable of reproducing at as young as 4 months old so with the lack of adoptions happening, it's urgent to sterilize these 6 cats now.

Each spay/neuter (with vaccinations) costs $500/cat so these 6 will cost $3000 out of pocket, which is not possible for me right now so we are looking to raise some funds for these upcoming appointments! If you can contribute or want to sponsor someone in particular, veterinary invoices can be provided to prove it's going right to the fosters in care.

Chirpa (black mama) and Lydia (grey mama) are being spayed tomorrow and if donors prefer to see the money go directly to the bill through the veterinary clinic, that is also possible as TMZ accepts e-transfers for payments as well! Contact me for any further information needed to donate or if you're interested in adopting any of these sweethearts!

I am contacted regularly by people asking me to take their cat or dog for behavioural issues like aggression or urinating/marking etc. Many owners threaten to euthanize or shoot the animal if I do not assist or agree to take them right away. It is so completely unfair and unreasonable to put that request onto a person who already has 62 rescues in care and is barely hanging on. The amount of pressure, guilt and despair it causes is unbearable.

Boris was found last September abandoned in an area known for dumping dogs, likely for the same issue - extreme aggression to other dogs. Despite that, I still took on TWO more large rescue dogs who again, were at risk of being shot when they showed up timid to someone's farm. Every day is a rotation to keep the boys separate to keep everyone happy and safe but it is done.

If you have a cat or dog with behavioural issues that is YOUR responsibility and DUTY to resolve. There is ALWAYS an underlying reason or cause for the behaviour or change in behaviour. It can be historic (past abuse), medical (pain), situational or circumstantial (nervous about a change to living situation, perceived danger/threat, preference/comfort etc).

Every situation can be worked around and there is absolutely NO need to euthanize an animal for needing to be a single pet or marking. If you need to re-home a pet because the situation is beyond your scope of possibility financially or otherwise, go ahead and do so but do not threaten their lives into the hands of someone else because that is easier for you.

There are already so many requests I have to deny for homeless and abandoned animals that I just do not have the space for so when I get requests to take on people's owned pets from a household with very few pets, I lose even more of what little faith in humanity I have left.

So if this situation is one you find yourself in, with an aggressive or marking animal:

- seek advice from others/the internet
- proof your house, use the rooms/kennels you have
- get a vet check in case it's medical
- find a different loving home for them

But do whatever is needed to understand the issue to help them. That animal's life is in YOUR hands, not mine.

Tiny! This little man is struggling to put on weight but great energy level and a very loving little guy! He really loves the nutritional gel I've been giving him to combat his insufficient food intake/weight gain and laps it up like it's a treat!

His eyes stayed open all day today! The third eyelids (red parts in corners covering part of his eyes) will stay up a bit until body is healthier but I'm confident each day we will see improvement for him! 👀

Cover photo blurred in case sore eye pictures bother some followers! Here is what we are working with for his eyes - after I clean off the buildup they open for short periods but seal back up pretty quickly. I am hoping the white haze (picture 3) is just a thin layer of discharge because sometimes the pupil looks clearer/visible (picture 5). It is likely just a bad case of upper respiratory that we will get a handle on with eye drops and by improving his body condition which will strengthen his immune system response. Slow and steady for this sweet little mister! 🐢

I'm not sure the severity/condition of his eyes at this point. There is a significant amount of discharge from both and the corneas underneath look slightly glazed but I will clean them often and have medicated drops to give. He is just the sweetest kitten and so much smaller than the pictures seem. He can't see but after I gave him what I call mama kisses all over his face, he started licking mine like crazy, just so thankful to be safe and loved.
