As a dog walker that works 1:1 or only does group leashed walks with dogs from the same family, I will NEVER take your dog to a dog park or off leash park. Here are some reasons why:➡️Many of my clients require individualized training and leashed walks due to experiences they have had in the past. ➡️While I can bring well- trained dogs with good recall to a dog park, I cannot predict the dogs (and their level of training) they will meet at that park. ➡️I can also not predict the owners and how they would react should an interaction turn negative or aggressive at the park. I believe it is my biggest responsibility to make sure the dogs in my care have the best, most personalized experience possible. Given that I walk and care for some dogs with specialized needs I will always be sensitive to those needs and making sure that I minimize environments or encounters that will make them fearful or uncomfortable. It is more important for me to be their safe place, so I always err on the side of caution. I do believe that an off leash experience can be wonderful for the right types of dogs that enjoy the freedom and socialization involved. If there’s one thing that I really have experience in, it’s making parents of both human babies and fur babies feel reassured when they are apart. Here are three simple ways you can help your clients feel more connected to their pets while they are away.✅Let them know about their day. Did you play in the backyard? Go for a fun walk? Did they have lots of cuddles? Your clients want to know!✅Add action pictures! Being able to see their pup and picture what they are doing during the day goes a long way in easing any anxiety. Plus, they get to see their dog having fun and they will LOVE that for them. ✅Make sure you take a picture of their pup sleeping at the end of the day. For some reason, it really helps ease their minds to see their pup resting well after a fun day. All my clients have thanked me for pictures especially these types of pictures. There you go!
