Hey everyone please meet and welcome our newest intake Royalty Natale. 😍His name means Christmas in Italian and how fitting since he was born on Christmas Day 2022. 🎄

Natale is an owner surrender because there was no time for him with work schedules. He did go on walks but spent much time in his crate. Our stunning black Neo arrived yesterday and has his eye surgery/neuter already scheduled for September 3rd.

He has been a really great boy so far. Reported good with other female dogs, loves walks and laying in the sun. We have no idea about cats. If you are interested in Natale please go to our website and complete a family profile and/or learn how to volunteer and donate. Mastino-rescue-inc.org. Stay tuned for Natale updates. 😍

Thank you for your continued support. ❤️

Sorry, it’s kinda late but we just couldn’t wait to post this moment. 🥰Just a few hours ago this magical look took place. Yes, our Royalty Eleanor finally met her forever Mom. Weeks ago we posted the sad news of Mom’s boy Royalty Goliath passing. The house was too quiet, no one to follow her around, no Neo at her feet and no snoozing to put her to sleep. 😴 Well, no more quiet as she welcomes another Mastino rescue into her home and heart. ❤️

MRI has a great village and so many of you along with her Arkansas support team, Polly, Arron and Debbie who helped make this happen you can all definitely smile tonight. A huge thank you to Regena and Brian for making the trip. 😎Thank you again to everyone for your determination and voice for Ellie. 😘

Sadly, we said goodbye to Royalty Gaia yesterday. 😢She came to us in May of 2019, not an easy girl by any means. In December of that year it was decided that Gaia found her forever home. Most would have given up on her but Michelle and Jamie loved her unconditionally. With no signs of illness at the age of almost 8 years she passed quickly in the arms of her Mom and Dad in her yard where she loved to be. Sometimes we have no answers as to why one moment they are fine the next they are not.

Mom stated in her message to us “She has been an incredible companion to both Jamie and I. 🥰She has been his walking buddy and my lap buddy for so many years I don’t know what I’m going to do without her”. 😞

When we thanked her for giving Gaia a great life she went onto say “And thank you very much for bringing her into my life. I am forever grateful for the learning experience and the love that I have had. It is a very unique breed of dog and definitely do not recommend it for everybody…..but I loved her and all of her attitude so much”.

Let’s take a moment and embrace this family as they mourn their loss. It’s not good bye, it’s until we meet again…rest easy beautiful girl

ETTORE UPDATE. Amazing right? One week of proper care, he is starting to heal. This is the result of a great vet, and a committed foster Mom that cleans/changes the wrap 4 times a day. Last weigh in he gained 4 pounds. We have a ways to go as we are also working on the ears which were the worst to date but because of your financial support he will continue to recover and live the life he deserves.

If you are interested in adopting or fostering we need YOU, in order to help more Neos in need. Please go to our website at Mastino-rescue-inc.org and complete a family profile. Thank you for your continued support. 😍

Today, our Royalty Eleanor aka Ellie starts her journey to her new chapter. 🥰Yesterday, she received her health certificate from one of our great rescue Vet partners in Arkansas and she will make her way to her forever home in Indiana. It’s been a long and crazy ride for this girl but with the support and determination of Debbie Nash, Polly Shore, her Arkansas support team, her Mastino Village team and everyone that followed her story, we thank you. 🤩

It was a bitter sweet day for Polly and her husband Aaron who have fostered Ellie since May. But Ellie will always remain a part of their lives through our adopter. As Polly shed tears saying good bye she knows that Eleanor has found the perfect home that awaits her.

This is what rescue looks like hard work, compassion , smiles and tears. 😎 If you are interested in fostering to help a Neo in need please go to our website Mastino-rescue-Inc.org and complete a family profile.

Today, we say goodbye to a greatly loved Royalty Zeus. 😢He came to us in December of 2020 at the age of 6. A dedicated volunteer called and inquired about him not even questioning his age. Less than 3 months later he officially became a member of the family. Several months later they adopted Royalty Leia. The tawny pair became an inseparable goofy pair and were our April models for the MRI calendar. Many thanks to Lynnette and her husband for opening their hearts ❤️to not only one but two rescue Neapolitan Mastiffs. Let us embrace this family and keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they mourn their loss and send love to them and Leia. Rest peacefully sweet boy, until we meet again…..

ETTORE UPDATE: It is NOT cancer, thank goodness.💪🏼What it is, we don’t know yet and will not until Monday when the culture comes back. Yes, it is a severe infection down to the bone. 😢First thought was valley fever because of the area he came from, he tested negative. Last night they packed the infected area with antibiotics and he’s on a broad spectrum oral antibiotic and pain meds. Once the culture results come back his meds will be adjusted accordingly.

His leg has been wrapped and he is resting hopefully comfortably. During the many hours being worked on at the Vet he laid patiently and never once showed signs of bad behavior. You can see on his medical bill his low weight which will be a much easier fix. We cannot thank his medical fosters enough for transporting and being with him most of the night never leaving him alone. This is shear love and compassion for the breed.

Some money has been raised for his medical bill but not nearly enough. Ettore will be needing much more medicine and vet visits. Please every $1.00 💲💲counts right now.

We will continue to send updates but for now say a prayer for his guy. Thank you for showing Ettore the love and support. ❤️

10/08/2024

While we wait for the complete update on Ettore from last night let’s get to the next Neapolitan Mastiff needing a home. Welcome Edera, a 3 year old blue girl weighing 115 pounds currently in Florida.

She needs out of her current environment as soon as possible, hopefully there will be a temporary emergency foster available Monday to take her in Florida. She was given up by her original owner due to living circumstances when after only 3 months cannot stay in her second home due to her dislike for the 2 female pugs. So yes, this is an emergency situation. Edera previously lived with a male dog, meets people rather easily for a Neo, loves car ride and is perfection at her Vet visits.

Thankfully she is in great health, up to date on all vaccines, spayed, stomach tacked, on HW meds and had entropion surgery. If you are interested in fostering or adopting please go to our website at Mastino-rescue-inc.org and complete a family profile.

There are so many great Neos looking for their perfect forevers. If you have any questions please send us a private message or email at mastinorescueinc@gmail. Please share this beautiful girl. 😍

09/08/2024

We need to have a very serious talk Mastino Village. As every other rescue is currently experiencing dogs are coming out of the woodwork from owner surrenders to shelter pleas. 😢Our best efforts are NOT enough right now. Fosters and donations are needed IMMEDIATELY to continue. Lately, every Neo coming in is requiring high medical costs and needs. Today was no different.

Welcome tawny Royalty Ettore who is believed to be 3 years old. Excuse some of the photos being poor quality but this is how we receive pleas from shelters begging us to help. Shelters that do not have Vets on staff to help due to funding. Ettore and a female dog were brought into the shelter stating they were found at a rest area however the staff believe they were the owners. Not that this matters because now he is an MRI dog and will get the best of care. He is defeated now but better days are coming boy we promise. After all this Ettore is a very gentle Neo.

Finally last night we were able to secure transportation from a small rural shelter in Texas and Ettore traveled all night thanks to Kate and JD who just adopted Shiva. They met his medical foster parents Bobbie and Ed who once again came through no questions asked 😍 These photos don’t do justice to the wounds on this boys body oozing blood. His ears are so bad they are also bleeding not to mention his eye infection.

He was taken to a Vet immediately which we are awaiting his update. Once received it will be posted.

THE NEOS need your help NOW. Please go to our website at Mastino-rescue-inc.org and go to our donation page for many ways to donate or complete a family profile to foster or adopt. We cannot stress enough how critical times are. There are another 4 waiting to be surrendered as soon as possible and we have so many great Neos ready for their homes. Please share and remember every dollar matters. Thank you for your continued support.

Today we introduce our newest intake to the Mastino Family, 5 year old Miss Anita 😍. She was left behind in a garage after visually being bred several times when her family moved. A concerned community came together to help her. One person really stepped up and decided to take her in, on a temporary basis. After trying to get her rehomed on social media with no luck she found MRI.

Miss Anita is spayed thanks to her hero and money was raised to get her cherry eye taken care of which will happen in a couple weeks.

What we know so far about our tawny girl over the past 6 days from her foster parents in Arizona. She is still in decompression time but prefers men immediately over women. It’s not that she doesn’t like a female human it just will take several days to be comfortable around a woman. Anita looks to foster Dad for security and guidance first.

She has to learn to be a dog. Although separated with gates she is curious and presents that she wants to meet the male Neo in the home. When it’s time for a meet and greet an update will be posted.

If you are interested in giving Anita her forever home please go to our website at Mastino-rescue-inc.org and complete a family profile. We are getting pleas for help and surrenders every day, get your profile in to be preapproved TODAY.

What would you think if you saw this while walking out of your hotel room first thing in the morning. 👀👀👀😂😎 WHAT a huge dog wearing PJs. 🤦‍♀️ If you didn’t know who they were before, you surely did after.

This photo was taken by a fellow Neapolitan friend in Lebanon TN at the Nationals when Romeo was just a lad 😁. Thank you, Rachel Hosking for sharing this photo never seen before and your wonderful memories of Kat.

Kat's unwavering dedication to her dogs and rescue efforts has left an indelible mark on our hearts, encouraging us to carry on her legacy of compassion and kindness. We wish to thank her family for their generous gift in naming Mastino Rescue Inc., as one of the rescue organizations for donations in Kathryn’s honor.

One promise, your legacy will remain forever. Kat we hope you are smiling down on us and proud of our efforts. Thank you for your love, compassion and dedication to the Neapolitan Mastiff for so many years. 🥰

Until we meet again……

Introducing Royalty Augusto aka Gus.

Gus was the 2nd Neo we received on Sunday. If this video pi**es you off it should. 🤬 Unfortunately this young boy was tied to a fence and left. 😢Not before he endured living in an area too small for him and not enough food.

Although he is 143 pounds he is clearly underweight and cannot see at all. Thankfully, Dr. Joel was able to see him yesterday for an evaluation. We believe he is under 2 years old. Next Tuesday he is scheduled for eye surgery and a complete set of X-rays on his back end area. On exam his knees appear to be good and he is a happy wiggly goofy boy. The hope is that good nutrition, joint supplements and proper exercise he will make a promising recovery.

We cannot stress enough the help we need right now in the form of dog food, supplements, monetary donations and fosters. It’s not only about the number of Neos coming in but the high medical needs that are coming along with them.

Any help is greatly appreciated because without YOU the success stories we ALL love to see cannot happen. Please go to our website at Mastino-rescue-inc.org to make a donation and to see our food needed on the wish list. Photos of Gus in the comments. We will update next Tuesday.

Introducing Royalty Maddalena. ❤️As promised here is her update: Although the shelter thought she was 10 months old it is believed she is younger. Pulled by Lone Star Dog Ranch on Saturday hours before euthanasia. Lone Star and Mastino Rescue have worked together in the past and will continue to save lives. She is underweight, has infected eyes/ears and generalized patchy apolecia with scabbing. Apolecia is caused by food allergies, environmental allergies and stress which we know she has endured. Since Sunday evening she has been at one of our great Vet partners getting special treatment. Currently on Cephalexin, medicated mousse gel for skin, eye meds, ears have been flushed and treated.

She has been good but is somewhat withdrawn which should not be a surprise to anyone with what she has endured at such a young age. 😢

This girl needs a home to help her heal medically and emotionally. If you could be that experienced home please go to our website Mastino-rescue-Inc.org and complete a family profile or to learn how to donate on our donation page.

A huge thank you to Lone Star Dog Ranch and their supporters for your generous donations, to the donors that pledged for her while in the shelter and to our Mastino Rescue Village. And a shout out to Ricky, Polly and Debbie for making this happen so quickly. 😍

Additional photos in comments. We cannot stress enough the help that is needed in these times. Getting surrenders in almost daily with medical issues. Please donate, foster or share for the dogs.

We are going to hand this baby girl off to Mastino rescue tomorrow. We’ve got so many Bordeaux’s to place and we appreciate the help from another rescue and we are always happy to work hand in hand. She will be in great hands with them and Ricky will help facilitate getting her moved north of us. ❤️

We are deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of Kathryn Russ Dunlap yesterday. For years Kat opened her home, heart and dogs to us. All of us laughed, cried and listened to her own experiences with her Neapolitan Mastiffs and Great Danes.

Kat became a huge advocate for rescues and with her broad audience raised birthday bucks each year to benefit so many animals in need. Mastino Rescue Inc., was honored to be one of the recipients of her hard work and dedication, and for that we will be forever grateful.

If we know one thing for sure it’s Kat will be watching over the animals from above and her beloved Rufio is back in her loving arms. Heaven has gained another angel. You will never be forgotten.

Hey followers, we have an exciting announcement, 🎈yes another adoption. Ed, one of our previous adopters and huge supporters recently lost Bruce his senior Neo and than months later MRI Royalty Lorena at 4 to a sudden heart condition. When Bruce passed we knew having one Neo was not enough so we brought Vito into his life. Fast forward just a couple months after getting Vito, Lorena passed 😢 Both Ed and Vito were missing Lorena. Weeks later we received an email from a rescue partner that there was a beautiful rescue only mahogany girl in a shelter and only a couple of hours away from Ed, his patience paid off. This was definitely a sign. A huge thanks to another volunteer and adopter, Laura in PA for helping us get this girl out and saved. 😍

Vito and Ed are both happy to have the companionship of Candy in their lives. The concrete barrier says CAN I JUST LIVE? and could not be anymore appropriate. Just look at the gratitude as she looks to her Dad. ♥️ Today in this country over 1.5 million dogs are getting euthanized each year and that number is climbing. Please adopt.

Royalties Vito and Candy are spending their best days going everywhere with their Dad. Please we need your support and financial help to bring you these happy endings that fills our hearts.

It is with the heaviest heart we bid good bye to our Royalty Nunzio today a little over 2 years since rescued from cancer. He was 9.5 years old. The last 2 years he loved riding with Dad in his truck, resting his head on that familiar shoulder. Sadly, when his Dad passed away suddenly Nunz looked for him everyday. He took his final breath being held by his loving human Mom. 😢

Let’s send Mom some love Neo village. Rest easy boy we know you are back riding with Dad happy and pain free, head on his shoulder once again.

Our Royalties are ruling their domains with panache. Rocco once the tiny titan has now taken over Dad’s briefcase as his throne at the office. Who needs a bed when you can prop your head up and lounge like a boss on a leather case? 😍 His goofy antics never fail to crack us up. 😂😂😂

We love receiving updates and sharing them with you.

We are thrilled to announce the adoption of Mastino Royalty Gemma by Michelle and Rusty. 🎈Gemma was hours away from euthanasia in an over crowded California shelter, but saved by a pair of our committed volunteers Bobbie and Ed. After vetting and a brief foster period of 10 days she was off to Colorado, her now permanent address. 😍 Being rescued at only 10 months we look forward to getting updates. Everyone please welcome Miss Gracie, our newest Royalty member who is a 5 year old tawny girl with a rough past. Pulled from the same Arkansas shelter as Adolfo. Gracie shows signs of neglect, weighing only 71 pounds on intake, healed scarring and high heartworm positive. 😢 Yesterday she received her second heartworm injection and will undergo her spay surgery once she is at a healthy weight.

Gracie will require a home with experienced guardian breed owners who can provide structure and training, as well as NO other animals or pets. Despite her past trauma, continuous breedings and being able to track and call numerous past owners that did not want her she loves humans, her baths, car rides and has been a model patient for her many vet appointments she has experienced. If you are interested in Miss Gracie please go to our website at Mastino-rescue-inc.org and complete a family profile. Or if you would like to speak with someone first just drop us an email at [email protected]. Please include your phone number and best time to call. We have posted videos in the comments on her freedom ride day, the start of her new life just look at that smile. A smile that tells you she knows. 😍

We have told Miss Gracie her village is behind her and she will get her deserved home. As always thank you for your shares and donors.

Today we celebrate the life of Mastino Royalty Goliath as he departs us at 7.5 years of age. Surrendered to MRI in January of 2021, he waited patiently for 8 months for his perfect person to come along. When Kim and her English Mastiff, Petal welcomed him into their family, it was meant to be. He left peacefully and unexpectedly in his sleep this morning but not before getting his treat. Please send some love and support to Kim during this sudden loss. Gone but forever in our hearts. Rest in peace handsome boy you were loved.
