A MOTHER-DAUGHTER STORY: When my sisters and I heard about two dogs (mother and daughter) who were being severely mistreated, we jumped into action. Convincing the former owners to surrender Patches and Hennessy was difficult, but we did it. Our mother, Dianne Gallello Scarcella, had taught us well. When she was diagnosed with cancer and had to leave her corporate job, she started saving animals
instead. For TEN YEARS, until the very end of her valiant battle, through chemo and radiation and surgery, Dianne was fighting not only for her life, but for the lives of hundreds of homeless and abused pets. She raised thousands of dollars, fostered and rehabilitated many dogs in her own home, and saved the lives of MANY dogs on death row with pure determination and love. She was known throughout the whole rescue world. She was what they call "Rescue Royalty." So we thought it'd be EASY to get someone in the rescue community to help us by fostering Patches and Hennessy until they found their forever home. We were WRONG. Sadly, because these two perfect angels happen to be Pit Terriers, EVERYONE turned us away. I called over twenty rescue organizations. I kept going. We three daughters wanted to do this for Mother's Day for our animal-saving Mom in heaven. It's exactly what she would have wanted. And it was quite fitting that the dogs were a bonded mother daughter pair too. Just as I was about to give up hope, I got a call back from Penny at RescueRight.org. In her gracious commitment to doing real rescue right, and in honor of my mom, whom she knew, Rescue Right so generously opened its doors to Patches and Hennessy. Because of Rescue Right, this mother and daughter were able to escape their fate, and now they are ready to find their FOREVER HOMES. Can you help us? Please SHARE our pictures and videos of Patches and Hennessy so their new adopters can find them. And please consider donating to Rescue Right here: http://www.rescueright.org/donate/ Even $5 can go a very long way to feed and care for Patches and Hennessy while they search for families who will love them for the sweet, gentle, goofy angels they are.
