Independence Day has been a day for celebration that families look forward to every year, but let’s not forget that it isn’t always enjoyable for everyone..
This US holiday is no holiday for dogs; the sounds of fireworks cause many dogs to panic and run, resulting in many lost dogs every year. In order to keep your pup as calm and comfortable as possible, here are some helpful tips:
✨ Stay home. Leaving your dog alone heightens their fear, just having you there with them can calm them down tenfold.
✨ Try drowning out the sound. Playing music or the television at a higher volume can help distract your dog from the fireworks outside.
✨ Be ready for them to run. Unfortunately, we can’t always be home or can’t help when nature calls. To prevent your dog from getting lost, make sure they have their ID tag with all their information on. If possible, get them microchipped.
✨ Exercise. Allowing your dog to exercise before the noise starts will help relax and tire them out, to hopefully sleep through the night.
Wrap them up. If all else fails, try wrapping them up tightly and giving them the love and support they need to get through the anxious night.
Have a safe and happy Independence Day, friends!
