With low temperatures at night and during the day, now is the time to protect your outdoor pets.

PROVIDE SHELTER: Access to an insulated doghouse, garage or shed when temperatures drop below 45 degrees helps keep your dog warm. Dogs accustomed to indoor living or temperate climates should not be left outside in freezing temperatures. Make the shelter accessible. You may not be at home when temperatures drop below freezing.

INSULATE SHELTER: A plastic or wood doghouse can help protect them from the wind, but it doesn't help keep them warm. You need to insulate any outdoor shelter with straw bedding - not hay. It needs to be stuffed full - all along the sides and back. The dog needs to be able to burrow down inside of the straw. Bales are usually $8 or less at local feed stores and will stuff 3-4 doghouses. DO NOT USE BLANKETS OR CLOTH TO INSULATE A SHELTER. The fabric will absorb moisture from the air and will make the pet colder.

WATER: Outdoor pets need access to unfrozen, fresh water at all times. Checking outdoor water sources frequently is necessary when temperatures drop and stay below freezing. You can purchase heated water bowls at pet supply stores or feed stores.

Breckinridge county animal shelter is offering free straw bedding to those who need it while we have supplies.

⭐Attention Breckinridge County Residents⭐ We are still taking applications for dog low cost spay and neuter vouchers! To apply, please pick up an application at Breckinridge county animal shelter during the listed hours.

Voucher prices are $65.00 for dogs, and a 1-year rabies vaccine is included with the voucher. Vouchers expire within 50 days, and only one spay/neuter voucher is allowed per household. You must be a Breckinridge County resident and provide proof with a photo ID. Vouchers are limited and will be given out to approved applications. Dogs must be at least 6 months old. Please note that the voucher does not cover extra costs for in-heat or pregnancy services ($50), and owners will be responsible for those fees and any other medical fees that may arise. Vouchers can only be used at Roe-Burke's Veterinary Services.

Here at FOBCA, we believe that access to affordable care matters. That's why our clinic and staff strive to connect owners with resources and opportunities to better the health and wellbeing of their pets. We welcome appointments for animals from any county and any state. We currently serve over 20 counties, and the list keeps growing.

🐶Female dog spay: $90 plus $5 for Rabies vaccine

🐱Male cat neuter: $45 plus $5 for Rabies vaccine

*All services are taxed*

We offer discounted rates when we have grant money and will run promotions when possible.

During the month of November, we are offering discounted neuters.

Proof of Rabies vaccine is REQUIRED. If your pet has not previously been vaccinated for Rabies, the vaccine is required by law and will be administered at the expense of the owner.
