Wayne County Animal Advocates-NC Uniting for a brighter future for our furry friends in Wayne County, NC!

We are an organized team of Animal Advocates who believe there is a need for a centralized base for animal-related issues in our area. It is our hope that citizens, adopters, rescues, fosters, transporters, volunteers and adoption center staff will come together and share information, ideas, animal-in-need requests, animal-related events ,and Lost and Found pets on this site. Through committed tea

mwork we can benefit the animals of our area, and address community animal concerns and issues in a positive and non-confrontational manner.

Look at this calendar girl. Miss Truvia was the next to last available dog at the Wayne County Animal Shelter's "Clear the Shelter " event years ago. Lucky for her, her now Mama knew she was the one when she looked up at her with those sweet eyes. Now, she's a famous calendar girl in "The Paw Print" catalog for the month of September. There's no limit to what one can do when given a chance and a whole lotta love.

Some simple safety tips for tonight. Also, please remember to pick up all fireworks remnants. These can be harmful not only to your own pet(s), but wildlife as well.

Allow us to introduce Miss Cocoa, a charming 7-year-old stray lovingly taken in by her owner. Unfortunately, Cocoa was diagnosed with sudden onset glaucoma of unknown causes. She has been undergoing treatment with medicated eye drops and pain medication administered twice daily. Today, her recheck appointment revealed that the pressure behind her eyes remains elevated, measuring in the high 40s, whereas a normal reading is 25 or less. This condition can cause discomfort, and the sudden loss of vision presents a significant challenge. Her medical team has recommended specialized care at an animal eye clinic in Cary. We are reaching out for donations to ensure Cocoa receives the best possible care, making her transition as smooth and painless as possible. All donations are tax-deductible, and WCAA can provide a tax letter upon request for your records. Please consider supporting Cocoa; every donation, no matter how small, is valued. Thank you!

Wayne County Animal Advocates would like to take this opportunity to wish all animal friends a joyous Christmas. We cordially invite you to share pictures of your treasured pets in the comments section below. We also acknowledge the animals currently housed in local and international shelters, recognizing the strain that an influx of intakes has placed on many facilities, including our own. If you are in a position to offer a loving home to an animal in need, we encourage you to visit your local shelter, where you may find your perfect companion. Merry Christmas!
