🐾 Staycation Spotlight: SIDNEY! 🐾

Oh my goodness, friends… you’re gonna fall in love with this girl just like I did. 💛

Sidney was one of my new babes over the Thanksgiving holiday, and from the moment I arrived, she was pure sunshine in golden retriever form.

I always send lots of updates to pawrents — pictures, videos, little motion shots (my phone’s secret weapon 😂) — but THIS motion photo was different.

I was trying to get her attention, smiling at her like a goofball, hoping she’d look up at the camera…

And she just stared straight into my soul with the softest, sweetest look.

Then suddenly — THE smile.
That full, unmistakable golden retriever grin that melts your whole heart in one second. 🥹✨

It was honestly one of the sweetest moments I’ve ever captured on a Staycation.
Sidney girl… you are pure magic. 💛🐶

This week I stood on stage as a Big Idea North Platte finalist and poured my heart into my pitch for Staycation Pet Care.

Surrounded by my biggest supporters — family, friends, coworkers, even my dad who surprised me after driving three hours — I gave a presentation I’m proud of. I engaged the judges, got a few giggles, and felt the room with me.

When the top five names appeared and mine wasn’t there, I was stunned. I cried, stepped out, and tried to breathe through the shock.

I’ve worked on this dream since last spring — meeting with Moraine at the Nebraska Business Development Center, sitting with banks, even considering the Bronco Inn for renovation into luxury pet suites. When my husband was laid off and lenders needed both a mortgage and a business loan, I started to wonder if the universe was telling me to pause… just for now.

I learned a lot this week — about myself, about resilience, and about the kind of community that shows up with matching shirts and louder cheers than I could ever ask for.

$8,000 wouldn’t have changed my life — but believing in myself does.

My dedication runs deep. After the competition, I went straight to a pet visit and ended up sitting on the floor, sobbing, as the sweetest little corgi, Jelly Bean, licked the tears off my face. 💛 Their paw-rents had left me the most thoughtful care package for me and my pups — and a handwritten note full of kindness. ✨ I’m finally sharing my dream… ✨

For the past year, I’ve poured my heart into growing Staycation Pet Care — and now, I’m taking a huge step forward.

This is my vision board and floor plan — pieces of what I hope will become North Platte’s first boutique pet retreat. A place designed to feel like home, where pets receive comfort, enrichment, and 24/7 care while their families are away. 🐾💛

I’m honored (and still a little in shock!) to be a finalist in the 2025 Big Idea North Platte competition! I’ll be sharing my story and pitching this dream on October 29th at Venue 304 — social starts at 5:00, event at 6:00.

It’s free to attend, and audience votes help decide the winners — so I’d love to see some familiar faces cheering me on. 🏆💛

Lauressa and her team are passionate animal lovers, that want to spoil your pets rotten! We have personally used them as our pet sitters for awhile now, and there is no one else I trust more!
Staycation has big goals of opening a luxury pet get-away facility. Think of a fancy resort, but for your pets!!

I’m thrilled to share that Staycation Pet Care has been selected as a finalist in the 2025 Big Idea North Platte competition! 🎉

What began as my dream to provide personalized, in-home pet sitting has grown into the vision of a boutique pet retreat — a home-style space offering 24/7 individualized care, comfort, and enrichment for pets while their families are away.

The live pitch event is October 29th at Venue 304 (social at 5:00 PM, event at 6:00 PM). It’s free to attend, and audience votes help decide the winners — so if you’re nearby, I’d love your support! 🏆

Gwen Staci, Pearl, and I ventured out today for our weekly Staycation meet-up, and what an adventure it was! 🐾💛

I was so excited to spot a nearby garage sale, but the rough grass meant sweet Pearl needed a little extra TLC—so she got the royal treatment and a carry across. 👑🐶 Once we arrived, Miss Gwen Staci couldn’t contain herself—she wanted ALL the loves from everyone in sight. 💕

We had an absolute blast today, and I can’t wait for many more days like this with these girls! 🥰

🐾✨ What an incredible day at the 2025 Doggy Dash! ✨🐾

I had the honor of being a sponsor this year, and it was the BEST day. My faithful friend, Dobby, joined my sister and me for the 1-mile family run (let’s be honest—I am not a runner 😅).

It was also the first time debuting my brand-new Staycation banner, and of course the real celebrity—Miss Dobby herself—was there in person for photos. 📸💛 She even kept us laughing all the way to the finish line, proudly carrying a stick and insisting I throw it… which would’ve ended with me being dragged across the line! 😂
