I started volunteering for my first rescue in June 2011. I have always had the love for small senior dogs. I have fostered for 2 different rescues and then was asked by Chad to help him with a little 3 pound Chihuahua he saved in the middle of December from the freezing cold weather and getting hit on the road. After the 30 day waiting period of not finding his owners, he was co-owned by Chad and
myself. I named him Rudy, since we found him in December. With the help of Dr. Brooks of the Last Chance Club, I was able to get Rudy fully vetted with exam, neuter, dental cleaning and extractions, toenail trim and all vaccines. Within 30 minutes of me posting him on my face book page for adoption Larry and Jackie contacted me telling he was just what they wanted. He went to live the life of a king with the Collin's. On July 12th I saved 2 little boys, Ethan and Coco, from being kept longer in the garage while their family went on vacation to Texas. This was when our weather was over 95 degrees. They agreed to surrender them both to me. Since that day I have thought about starting my own rescue with just bringing in 1 small senior dog in my home, getting them vetted and adopting them out for a very nominal adoption fee. The day I made this decision I found out that sweet Rudy had passed away due to seizures. This rescue is in his memory as he was my very first personal rescue I was involved in without asking one of the rescue groups I volunteered for, to help us out. I now have fosters and have been able to save more than just 1 at a time. Thank You Fosters for opening your heart and home helping RHR save more.
