Rabbit Grass

Rabbit Grass "Rabbit grass" is a healthy, natural, fresh food for rabbits and other grass loving herbivores. Rabbit grass is healthy food for your pet rabbit all year round.

It can be grown indoors and out and harvested daily as a crop. It's similar to pampass grass, but has a greener more plentiful leaf and a smaller, less ornamental, seed head. It's true identity is carex pendula or weeping sedge. The name "rabbit grass" comes from it being used as food for our own rabbits! The previous owners of our house were keen gardeners and it was planted here around 25 years

ago as an ornamental grass. When we bought our rabbits we mentioned the unusual grass to our vet who advised us to try feeding it to them as grass is the natural food of wild rabbits. Our rabbits devour several metres of grass a day, which is great for their health and reduces the amount we need to spend on hay and greens. We are based in Yorkshire, England.

Our Story

Rabbit grass is healthy food for your pet rabbit all year round. It can be grown indoors and out and harvested daily as a crop. It's similar to pampass grass, but has a greener more plentiful leaf and a smaller, less ornamental, seed head. It's true identity is carex pendula. The name "rabbit grass" comes from it being used as food for our own rabbits! We have rarely seen it growing in other locations, though it can be confused with other plants. The previous owners of our house were keen gardeners and it was planted here around 25 years ago as an ornamental grass. When we bought our rabbits we mentioned the unusual grass to our vet who advised us to try feeding it to them. She said grass is the natural food of wild rabbits and they can live on grass alone. Our rabbits devour several metres of grass a day, which is great for their health and reduces the amount we need to spend on hay and greens. We also feed them a small amount of Burgess pellets, along with hay.

We are based in England and are willing to dispatch grass seeds worldwide. Please check this is acceptable in your home nation as some countries don’t like seeds being sent to them.
