I was looking back on the progress and how much Ziva has grown into her body, and I just wanted everyone else to see her then and now transformation a little over a month into this new big girl lifestyle.

Miss Ziva is sure growing up. We got our feet done, and got readjusted, and are finally at a comfortable weight to make riding an enjoyable experience. Now we can start building more muscles and learning more from the saddle. Here are a few pictures from last night, and I will post the videos after. This young mare is going to make someone the best horse, she is oh so willing, loves attention, and is such a quick learner. Ive said it a few times and will probably say it a few more, but I can not wait to see where the summer takes us!!

Ahhhhh! HUGE thank you to Cody Abatie for giving my girl her first big girl trim!! She did absolutely amazing! I can’t thank Cody enough for fitting us into his schedule, GUYS if you need farrier work done, give him a holler!

Yesterday Miss Ziva had some more stranger danger, then i got her feet kinda touched up so there wasn’t so much toe (by me lol) the other guys are just looking and guiding me. We have an actual appointment this next Thursday! Then we just goofed around, I’ve got her siding up to the mounting block good, and she let me slide on and sit on her back

I apologize for slacking, after my quick trip home this weekend we were back at it in the barn so let me catch you up!!! In the past few weeks Ziva was move to a stall, got introduced to the massage gun, loaded and unloaded from the trailer, began confidently taking treats from my hand, getting acquainted with the clicker, learning to come to a whistle, more moving out with the saddle on, moving over ground poles, standing tied, walking outside, getting rinsed off with the hose. She also got ponied by my Quarter Horse. And today we introduced the rope, walked over ground poles and did a little more in the trailer, and a big dose of stranger danger. I will be more on the ball about my posting, I promise!! 😂 appreciate all the support, and want to thank everyone for the love while I find my way through this competition.

A little update on the previous week-as I struggled with a cold, Ziva and I worked on smaller things like taking treats, moving out in the big barn, confidence moving at a lope, me sitting in a lawn chair next to her, going outside, standing tied and even getting a bath! She is doing absolutely amazing! Now that I am starting to feel better we will see what the next week holds for us! Absolutely falling in love with this girl! ❤️ (And yes mom I know I can’t keep her 😂) but seriously this little mare will make someone an amazing horse!

After a little break we jumped right back into it, started off with just picking up and picking out her front feet, and then saddled and moved out in the bigger portion of the barn, then up and in the saddle, and worked on flexing to both sides using the bit. She did awesome! Didn’t really skip a beat.

Day 5 update- Ziva did absolutely amazing, I started bridling, got up and on and sat in the saddle and waited for her to relax with me up there. I also shaved her brand so we could see it a little better, and she did awesome with the clippers. And then since I’m learning how to trim I decided I would take a little bit of her over grown toe off her front feet (I in fact was supervised lol) and she did absolutely amazing, with me fumbling with my tools, not knowing exactly where to put my body let alone her foot. I am beyond amazed at how fast Ziva is coming along!

Day 4- really good day. I threw my good saddle up on Ziva, got some good pressure in our stirrups. Then this evening we had a little outing in the big barn with Goose and two other competition mustangs, and Ziva did amazing!! And in between sessions I did a little bit of puddle swimming 😂 that’s what happens on rainy days in Oregon (sorry I don’t have more pictures lol)

Day 3- Quite the busy day for Ziva girl. Got the saddle on and moved out very very nicely also very curious about the saddle on the fence. Had the tarp all up in her business and started flexing her neck. We also had a big scary guy pick up and pick out our two front feet, and she handled that like a champ. And we graduated from our halter, so now we can spend the nights with no halter at all. So very proud of our progress so far, can’t wait to see what comes next.

Day 2- Ziva didn’t skip a beat, and I found the itchy spot on her chest, after finding out that the scratches felt good she enjoyed being in my space. We got the drag rope off and got a little bit beautified ❤️ We also did some lunging, some moving of our front shoulders, and some work with the surcingle, saddle pad, and she allows me to pick up both front feet, talk about a busy day lol

Upon arrival home and during our first session 8222 was alright after a while with me in her space but was not super keen with me touching her. But we eventually got a hold of the drag rope and I was able to sort of send my good energy up the rope to her, but it wasn’t until the 2nd session before there was a break in that wall. I was then able to get that first touch and break that ice between her and I. After a lot of pressure and release of just me being in her space, touching under her halter we were able to get our tag off and officially get our name.

Pickup day was Saturday April 27, where we picked up then tag number 8222. She is a 3 year old bay Stinking Water mare.
