Mission
Our mission is two-fold:

To educate the public on the plight of animals stuck in high kill shelters throughout Georgia. To save as many animals as we can from high kill shelters and to see the animal through the entire life-cycle of rescuing the animal from the shelter to getting them ready for adoption to fostering and finally into a suitable, caring, "forever" home. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity that operates through the assistance of a network of volunteers who have a love for animals and are trying to save dogs and cats from “High Kill Shelters.” There are so many animals that end up in shelters for so many reasons. Strawberry Shortcake was an apt choice for name for this adorable 10-week old girl. She is as sweet and short as the confection - always the first to say hello to human visits and the first to cuddle and play for the right human. She looks awesome in her tuxedo, has a beautiful purr and is even more captivating when you look into her eyes (the left is blue and other is … not … ). :) Don’t let her sweet disposition fool you though. She will wrestle with her two brothers and sister any time and anywhere and enjoys a good run through kitty tree obstacles, between human legs, and chasing the laser light show - wherever it leads.

Rainbow Brite is an adorable 10-week old girl who looks as beautiful as her stray mama. She’s a beautiful tiger stripe kitty. If you look closer, though - you will see more colors (like the rainbow) on her. She’s as sweet and ‘brite' as her name. Her foster dad thinks she’s the smartest of a litter of four. She figured out how to navigate the cat tree, zippered donut, and even the bookshelf in the human’s office where she plays and sleeps. She’ll be the last to concede in any kitty wrestling match, and like her mother - holds no grudges and is ready to groom her brothers and sister if needed. She enjoys calming peaceful pets after dinner. :)

HAVARTI is 7 weeks old (on July 1) and is a sweet, snuggly guy who also loves toys and playtime. He has two big pittie foster brothers, and would do great in a home with other pets. He is inquisitive and mellow but also has lots of kitten energy when he's in play mode. He has beautiful swirly markings on his flanks and will be a beautiful cat.

ROMANO is 7 weeks old (on July 1) and is a sweet, snuggly guy who loves to be in your lap, plus loves toys and playtime. He has two big pittie foster brothers, and would do great in a home with other pets. He is inquisitive and mellow but also has lots of kitten energy when he's in play mode. His markings are mini tiger stripes, and he has an adorable speckled belly.

FETA is 7 weeks old (on July 1) and loves to play! He is full of zoomies and adorable energy, and he will always greet you with an inquisitive meow. He enjoys cuddles and naps as hard as he plays. He has two big pittie foster brothers and can't get enough of them--he would do great in a home with other pets of any kind. He would also be a good kitty for kids, as he's full of rambunctious personality—but he also sometimes hides if things are a little chaotic, so kids who know to respect his space would be his favorite (he also may grow out of the touch of shyness; it certainly wears off quickly once you sit on the floor with him, and he's ready to be in your lap).

Glow Worm took some time to come out of his shell, but after seeing how the giant foster human didn’t gobble up his bother and two sisters, the shell is gone! He is so curious about everything - humans included. He adores romping around to wrestle with his litter mates and any of the crazy soft animal shaped things the human captured, but really enjoys chasing that laser light bug during foster daddy playtime. GW is a 10 week old short haired striped tiger-ish with beautiful white boots, belly, and face markings. The humans can’t stop booping his pink nose rubbing the adorable paw-like image on his belly fur. :)

Alexandrite is the prettiest little calico girl you ever did see! She is the smallest kitten in her litter and is a smart little girl! She was the first to learn how to use the litter box and she went directly to eating only kitten kibble and never looked back! No mushy wet food for this cutie, she said, “Yuck to that stuff!” Alexandrite may seem a little shy with new people but really, she is just trying to get a read on new situations. She soon becomes comfortable and she is a little love bug who loves to cuddle in the laps of adults and kids alike . Alexandrite loves to play with kitten toys too like toy mice. She adores cuddling with her siblings at bedtime and would adapt to a house with other cats just fine. Alexandrite will be meeting the foster family’s dog soon but she will probably adapt to dogs just fine after a slow introduction. We just know she would love to have a loving home to call her own!

Topaz is beautiful little gray tabby kitten who sparkles as bright as her name! She is a spunky little thing who loves her toy mouse, and ball chaser toy! She loves to zoom around with her kitten siblings and has energy to spare! Topaz does however, like to stop and get cuddles and chin rubs for both the adults and kids in her foster home. She learned to use the litter box in no time flat . This little lady will adjust just fine to a house with other cats and will be meeting the foster’s family’s dog soon too. But she may even give the family’s active cattle dog a run for her money! Topaz would really do well with another cat or kitten to help burn off her energy, or with a family who is dedicated to wanting to play with an active kitten!

Opal is a young mother, no more than two but most likely younger. Right now she is busy being a mom to her three jewel litter babies, but very soon she will be ready to go to a new forever home! Opal is the prettiest tabby with tans, blacks, browns and white colors in her soft fur. She is a sweet little girl with a small head and big ears reminiscent of an Egyptian Abyssinian cat! Opal is as sweet as can be she gets along with kids and other cats. Dogs are unknown at this point but she will meet the foster family mom once she is done caring for her babies . Opal loves to rub your legs, and get chin rubs. She has perfect litter box behavior and loves to use a scratching post. Who wants to give this little mama a happy life after her mom duties are complete? Opal is available for pre adoption now and will be ready to go home soon!

Peridot is the cutest little cow kitten . He has big kitten energy but also loves to cuddle in your arms or fall into a deep sleep. Peridot loves kids, adults and his siblings. He seems to be a good fit with other cats. He will be introduced to the foster family’s dog soon but his mellow personality is a good indication that he should adjust to a home with dogs just fine. He uses the litter box perfectly and loves his kitten food! This little guy will fit in with any loving home !

Happy tails!
Philly was adopted today. She will have two dogs and two cats siblings and a young human to adore her. She is going to be very spoiled and have a wonderful life.

Don’t look! We have a unique situation today- the eclipse! While this is a historic and super cool science event, there are a few things to keep in mind about your furry friends: 1. Many animals react to eclipses. This can vary from fear to a disruption of sleep patterns to hiding/caving, or vocalizing, or digging. Your dogs may react by hiding, growling and barking, running away from you, or acting like it's night time and you should be in bed. 2. Wildlife may also act abnormally and you may have birds singing at the start or end of the eclipse. Your dogs may be more or less confused by this and bark, or hide. 3. Monday is not the day to introduce your dogs to new dogs, or to change routines. There is an element of unpredictable behavior that we reccommed you just avoid. 4. Please don't have your dogs watch the eclipse with you. It can burn their eyes just like it can your own! If you must have your dog outside diring the eclipse, please have them leashed so they do not spook and try to run.

Jordi, now named Berkeley, is loving life in his forever home. Both Berkeley's back legs were broken and he underwent surgery and months of recovery. From a sad little broken baby last year to a gorgeous loved big boy today. Rescue Works!!!

ADOPTABLE kitten, KINGSTON, recently visited our Petco Habitat in Sandy Springs, Georgia. Our kitties are so fortunate to have this space, as many are adopted from here. Sadly, it didn't happen for Kingston during his stay, but he made the most of his time and enrolled in a few courses. Update: 7:50 pm Dustin has passed over the rainbow bridge. 🌈His body couldn’t keep going. Although his life was short, for everyone to come together to help him fight was a beautiful tribute. *Excess funds will be diverted to the next Angel dog or cat. KITTEN THROWN FROM CAR NEEDS DONATIONS FOR MEDICAL CARE NOW. Second video in comments. Hey – are you a good person or a bad person? I’m not sure I can tell the difference. Someone picked me up and sat me in their lap and took me for a drive. I thought he was a good person. I didn’t even try to get away. I just sat there. I trusted him. And then he threw me out the window while he was going very fast. I’ve never really known true fear before today, but can you imagine how I must have felt in that split second before I hit the pavement? Absolute terror. And then my world exploded in excruciating pain when I landed. I landed HARD. Thank God the person behind us saw everything. Thank God that Angel stopped because I couldn’t move. I was frozen in fear and pain. And then when I tried to move, well, you can see what’s happened. I couldn’t have gotten myself out of the road without human intervention. I would have been run over for certain. The Angels are calling me Dustin – it means FIGHTER in German and I AM a fighter because despite that bad man’s intentions I SURVIVED. I will continue to fight but I need your help. The Angels rushed me immediately to an emergency vet for assessment. This is going to be expensive. I know how hard it is to watch, but please watch my video ( in comments) I am hurt, I am in pain, and we need your help to pay for the care I need. We will be honest – we do not yet know Dustin’s prognosis, but he is getting the best care available. And the best care, especially on the weekend, costs a small fortune.
