Rehab and celebrating the small wins 🥰
It is offen a long, lonely, painful road full of highs and lows, and easy to forget how far you've really come.
There is no one way to rehab a horse with many variations and combinations, but ultimately consistency is key followed by having a great team around you to make sure all the jigsaw pieces fit together, giving the horse the best chance of soundness.
For the first time in what feels like years, my boy is finally starting to Trot with purpose and strength.
Weak stifles and sore S.I being our biggest problem, it hasn't been an easy task teaching Wiz how to use himself from behind and push out into my hand, but today my amazing trainer highlighted to me how much the trot as changed in the last 3 months.
Hacking has been so important in this, not only for his brain and general confidence but that schooling him over different surfaces has done wonders for strengthening him up without putting too much strain on his joints.
Longreining and short schooling sessions, including lateral work to tone up the ligaments and muscle, have also been a huge key factor.
Regular physio and INDIBIA sessons have been a game changer in helping him to remain comfortable and work to the best of his abilitie.
Great farrier and saddle that fits to perfection are also vitality important.
Today I will celebrate the small win in wizards rehab. 🥳
