Hi friends đŸ„°

08/08/2022

ADOPTED! đŸ„°

Lula in Fort Collins, CO

Lula loves to be with her people. She is a happy, constant shadow. Sit down for a moment and she is in your lap. Walking is another favorite activity of hers – pick up her leash and see her dance with joy! She is a lovely, spayed tricolor girl and will be 6-years-old in October.

Lula weighs 22 pounds and needs to lose about 5 pounds. She had a dental while in foster care which included 14 extractions. Otherwise she is in good health. She is microchipped and her vaccinations are current.

Lula would be best as an only dog. She is pushy with other dogs. She mounts them frequently and “marks” her territory outdoors.

She is housetrained and has had no accidents in foster care. She knows some basic commands – come, sit, go to your place.

Lula would like a home where her people are around much of the time. She would be happy as the only dog with plenty of attention from her people. The home needs to carefully monitor her food and take her on regular walks to help get her back to a good weight for her frame.

Color: Tricolor
Age: 5 Years
Weight: 22 lbs
S*x: Female
House Training: Very good.
Health: Needs to lose about five pounds. Otherwise healthy
Temperament: Loves to be with people! Happy, outgoing. Pushy with other dogs.
Recommendations: A home where she will be the only dog and have plenty of attention from her people. The home needs to carefully monitor her food and take her on regular walks to help get her back to a good weight for her frame.

**POSTER UPDATED TO FOLLOW VETERINARY GUIDELINES**

Many of us are experiencing extreme weather - the hottest temperatures ever seen in parts of the UK.

Please be careful and keep your dogs safe.

The rise in air pressure can affect dogs with CM/SM (Syringomyelia) causing more pain; please check the pressure in your area (if you don't have an app, you can check pressure on the BBC weather website).

Maybe consider extra medication if your SM/CM Cavalier is affected, please check with your vet.

If you must walk your dog, only go early morning and speak to your vet about sunblock for vulnerable skin areas - never use human products.

The RSPCA have some good advice here including signs of heat stress, https://www.rspca.org.uk/adviceandwelfare/pets/dogs/health/hotwalks

ARCHIE | ST. SIMONS ISLAND, GEORGIA
AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION

đŸŒ± Safe and secured fenced yard
🏡 Someone home much of day/low alone time
💜 Older, gentle children okay
đŸ¶ Young canine playmate of similar temperament
🎓 Training classes within 6 months of adoption

🛑 If you do not check ALL of the above requirements, your application will not pass the screening process for consideration. We do not compromise on these requirements as we feel they are essential to a successful adoption with Archie.

MEET ARCHIE đŸ¶
Last month we welcomed in darling 1 year old Archie (DOB 3/22/2021) after he was released into our care by his family when some recent life changes made it difficult for them to continue to meet his needs. He is now ready to find his perfect match family who will meet his every need and can keep up with his enthusiasm and zest for life!

MEDICAL đŸ©ș
We found adorable Archie to be healthy and congenitally sound with clear eyes, knees, hips, and heart, and his ears, skin, and teeth all clean and clear. Additionally, all of his labwork including his f***l test, heartworm and tick borne illness test, urinalysis, and bloodwork are all normal and negative. Archie underwent his neuter surgery in our care and recovered very well. He is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, microchipped, and on monthly preventatives. He is a healthy boy who is not on any medications and does not require any additional vetting, outside of regular wellness checks, at this time.

FOOD & POTTY HABITS đŸ„˜
Archie's foster mom describes him as a very robust and enthusiastic eater. Like most Cavaliers, he loves his meals and treats and practically inhales them. He is eating out of a "puzzle bowl" in his foster home to help slow him down a bit. He is eating his Fromm kibble meals twice a day, softened with a little warm water, and loves small pieces of fresh fruit as a healthy treat! Because Archie eats so fast, he must be supervised at meal time to ensure he doesn't visit the other dogs' bowls and steal their food. In his former home, Archie was managing to get to food that was left on tables and from out of the trash, so it is very important that no food is left out or within his reach and that the trash is kept away in a closed pantry. Archie's family must be committed to maintaining his ideal weight of 15 pounds through strictly portioned meals, healthy treats, and daily activity/exercise.

Archie has proved to be reliably potty trained in his foster home, having no accidents. That said, he is given frequent opportunities outside to be successful including first thing in the morning, last thing at night, and every few hours in between including immediately after meals. He prefers to potty being let out into a safe and secured fenced yard instead of being leashed and walked. Please know that while Archie is reliable in his foster home, accidents are always to be expected especially initially while he transitions to another environment and routine.

PERSONALITY 💕
Archie's foster mom describes him as a total joy! He is happy, playful, and has great energy! He loves toys, especially squeaky ones, and loves when you play with him by throwing his toys in the air. He also loves playing with his cavalier foster siblings and plays very well. Archie is as snuggly and cuddly as he is playful and active and loves to snuggle up close with you and being on the receiving end of your attention and affection. Like most Cavaliers, he's just happy being with you and spending time with you, but being a young, active, energetic boy, he needs plenty of opportunity for activity, play, engagement, and interaction.

ROUTINE ⏰
Archie’s day starts with a trip outside in the yard for pottying then inside for breakfast. He then spends most of the day in his foster home with his foster mom and cavalier foster siblings where he alternates between playtime, naptime, and outdoor time in the safe and secured fenced yard. He also takes a daily leashed walk around the neighborhood where he continues to work on good leash walking behavior. During the short periods of time where no humans are home, Archie stays in a large crate with one of his cavalier foster siblings. He does not do well being alone and needs a furry furiend for companionship. In the evening, after dinner, he enjoys snuggling on the couch before it's time for bed. Archie sleeps in the big bed snuggled up close to her foster mom. We are seeking a family who will allow him to enjoy the big bed, where every Cavalier belongs.

SOCIALIZATION 💜
Archie gets along very well with his cavalier foster siblings but particularly enjoys the companionship of the other young, playful cavalier in the home who can match his energy level. He loves running and exploring in the yard, chasing after toys together, wrestling, romping, and cuddling up with them. Archie would be happiest and do best with other canine companions in the home and would not do well as an only dog. His perfect furry match would be another young (under 5), playful Cavalier, or other dog of similar size and temperament who will match his enthusiasm and who will engage and play with him. He has not been exposed to any cats while in our care so we are unsure how he would do with a feline furiend.

Archie knows no stranger and loves having guests and friends in the home where he wastes no time claiming their laps. He does not do as well meeting people out while leashed where he can become vocal. He seems to be well socialized and is not particularly timid or fearful although unusual and unexpected noises, like fireworks or nearby construction, can startle and scare him. We feel he would do well in an adult-only home or a home with older, gentle, well-behaved children (no infants or toddlers as there were young children in his previous home which were not a good match for him) who want to love on him and engage with him as long as they are appropriate and gentle with their love and affection.

IDEAL HOME & FAMILY 🏡
Most importantly, Archie needs a family who has the time and ability to shower him with love and attention and make him an included and important member of their family. He wants nothing more than to be with you and because pups need a lot of stimulation, attention, engagement, socialization, and activity, we are seeking a family who is able to be with him much of the day and where he will have very low alone time. He needs an active home with a canine playmate, lots of toys, and a safe and secured fenced yard so he can continue to enjoy his outdoor freedom. In addition to an appropriate and safe outdoor area for pottying and play, we will also be looking for a very "puppy proofed" home as puppies will be puppies and will get into everything they can. Anything within reach of the pup, especially food with Archie, is up for grabs and so ensuring that the yard and inside of the home can and will be well maintained for his safety is imperative.

Archie is continuing to work on good leash walking behavior in his foster home but needs continued training. He is described as an energetic "zig-zagger" who is in full out sprint the first few minutes of the walk. He also becomes vocal while on leash, barking at other dogs that he sees while out. We feel that Archie could benefit from positive based training classes and since he already knows 'sit', 'stay', 'leave it', and 'down', we feel he could be the star student! We also feel that he would excel and enjoy agility training and would love to find a family who will provide for him these outlets and opportunities.

HOW TO APPLY đŸ’»
Archie is an adorable, healthy, happy, energetic little boy who loves his people, furry friends, food, and toys. If you are up for all the adventures of puppyhood, feel you’re a great match for Archie, and meets ALL of his requirements, please fill out an adoption application found on our website (TheCavalierRescue.org) then email us at [email protected] to express your interest. Archie is located in St. Simons Island, Georgia, and travel there is required. We will ask that he travel home secured in a safe and comfortable boosted car seat as he can be anxious in the car initially. His requested adoption donation is $650. Archie is ready to go home now, so please only apply if you are prepared to travel and adopt at this time.

Adopted! đŸŸ

Violet in Evesham, NJ

Hi! My name is Violet! I am a young, 6-year-old spayed Blenheim girl. I am a very sweet, lovable and friendly young lady who just wants to be loved and has a bad case of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out!). I like to bark and talk because I think I am missing out on something whether it is outside in the backyard, in the kitchen, or if one of my foster siblings is doing something I want to be a part of.

I came into the rescue because of some unfortunate circumstances. My owner could not give me the love, attention, or care that I need and deserve. I am shy at first, but once I warm up to you, WATCH OUT! I put my paw on you when I want something and I LOVE to sit next to you on the couch or snuggle next to you. I really like kids! My foster family has been great for me to be around children. They love on me, hug me and pet me. I really love them and give them kisses and snuggle with them.

When I first came into my foster home, I did not know what concrete sidewalks were or how to climb steps. I did not know how to walk on a leash, but now, I walk well on a leash. Also, I did not know how to eat from a dog bowl. My foster mom has been amazing, teaching me all of these things! I am working on my housebreaking skills. I love my crate. I have learned to trust humans again and love being around them. I even love my foster brother and sister who have welcomed me into the pack! We love hanging in the backyard, running around doing perimeter checks, watching the birds, barking at rabbits and just chasing each other. I love my dog toys and stuffies. I love the beach, but I do not like car rides. I love food! I am watching my weight, however, and my foster mom is giving me a special dog diet food.

As for my health, I did have some teeth pulled. My heart was checked and the vet said my heart is in good shape. I’m overall in great health! I am about 21 pounds, but have been losing weight. My shots are up to date! Oh and one more thing, I’m sorta of regimented from my last home, I like to wake up early (like 5:20am) to go out to potty and eat! While my foster mom has tried to break me of this habit, I’m a creature of habit. I also expect dinner at 4:00 pm. If these things don’t happen, I bark and whine. Like I said, I like to talk.

My foster mom and I think that I would do well with a family or someone who is retired or home most of the time. I don’t like being left alone; I tend to cry and howl. Also, I really like to be with my peeps, so if my future home could have dogs, that would be wonderful. I do better with a pack! My future family can have children too.

I really am the most perfect girl in the world! My foster mom is sad to see me go and so are my foster siblings. I am so lucky that they let me come and live with them! I can’t wait to find my furever home!

If you can provide Violet a loving home, please fill out the online application if you haven’t already and then email New Jersey Cavalier Rescue Coordinator Rebecca Plimpton ([email protected]) and advise her that you’ve applied for Violet. Applicants must live within a reasonable driving distance of Evesham, NJ.

Adopted! 💕

Sydney in Douglassville, PA

Hi my name is Sydney, and I’m told that I’m the sweetest 4 month old Blenheim Cavalier that you will ever meet! I was born 2/25/22 and given to rescue because my eye was injured and my owners couldn’t get it fixed. The doctors tried to save it but the injury was too old and infected so the best thing was to remove it. Don’t let my missing eye fool you, it doesn’t stop me! I’m spunky, silly, playful and loving.

My foster mom is teaching me come and sit. I’m house trained but, on occasion, have had a few accidents at night. I sleep in my crate. My foster mom gives me breakfast and dinner in my crate because I’m on different food than my foster siblings. I will let you know with my best outside voice that you are late in feeding me!

I am up to date on my vaccines and am microchipped. I will need to be spayed when I am older had some more time to mature. My missing eye is now healed and does not require any additional care.

I am looking for a home that has a nice dog who will play with me. My new family must be willing to work with me on basic obedience since I am still young and have a lot to learn. I love being able to run free so I need to have a yard with a physical fence to keep me safe.

Color: Blenheim
Weight: 8 lbs
S*x: Female
Health: Umbilical hernia which be may need to be fixed when pup is spayed
Temperament: Happy, loving, playful, and loves meeting new people
Recommendations: Loving family that understands this is still a puppy in the learning stages, physically fenced yard
Location: Douglassville, PA
Region: Northeast
Special Needs: No

Just adopted! 💕

Lilly in Dallas, TX

Hi! My name is Lilly and I am a spunky, 8-year-old tricolor girl. I found my way to rescue when lifestyle changes and work schedules led my family to believe a new home where another family had more time to spend with me would be best.

Like typical Cavaliers, I love people! I think I should be in the same room with my foster mom all the time, with or without my other foster sisters. I like to jump up on the couch and take a nap but am just as comfortable sleeping on the cool, wood floor behind the chair while my foster mom works in her office. I also love sleeping in the big bed with my foster sisters!

Kids – I love them, too! The kids that come to see me are my foster mom’s grandkids. I am especially fond of their sitting on the couch with me and giving me belly rubs. The grandkids are five years old to teenagers and I greet them and love them all!

The vet says I am very healthy! No heart murmur. I am a good weight, and all is good for me to find my forever home. One little thing, did I tell you I had 24 teeth pulled when the vet cleaned my teeth? Well, it hasn’t stopped me from eating as I do love to eat like a typical Cavalier! I am very patient and wait quietly for my meals and my treats. I eat a little slower than my foster sisters but eat my food until it is all gone.

Color: Tricolor
Age: 8 Years
Weight: 20 lbs
S*x: Female
House Training: Completely housebroken, uses the doggy door but likes for someone to go out with her as well.
Health: Healthy
Temperament: Sweet and very laid back, a little separation anxiety
Recommendations: Someone home much of the time, would not do well in an apartment as she does bark when you leave.
Location: Dallas, TX
Region: Southern
