🚨 Xylitol: A Hidden Danger for Dogs

Even small amounts of xylitol (also known as birch sugar) can be life-threatening to dogs, causing hypoglycemia, seizures, liver failure, or even death. This sweetener is lurking in many everyday products like toothpaste, candy, cough drops, and more.

If your dog ingests xylitol, get them to the vet immediately for a glutathione injection to counteract the effects. Remember, prevention is key—keep all products containing xylitol out of reach!

MEDICAL ALERT
PLEASE READ

We want to alert our client families about a highly contagious unknown airborne virus that can quickly turn into pneumonia. This illness is not testing positive for bordetella or influenza. Unlike kennel cough, which usually clears up to 7-10 days this new illness seems to continue for weeks and can even lead to fatal instances of pneumonia.

I have reached out to my vet today. As of right now there are no cases in Bucks County that they are aware of. Your dog may be at risk if they come in contact with unknown dogs, such as veterinary hospitals, clinics, groomers, dog parks, kennels, animal shelters.

If your pup is scheduled to visit our home, we ask that for the safety of our campers staying with us, that you refrain from use of dog parks and kennels or other social areas where they might be exposed to unscreened dogs. If traveling with your pet please be cautious around other dogs as well.

It is critical to keep an eye out for SYMPTOMS in your dog. If your pet starts coughing, change in appetite, difficulty breathing, sneezing, lethargy, discharge from the nose or eyes please seek veterinary care right away. We will also be screening all dogs very closely at drop off for symptoms before being allowed into our home. If symptoms arise while in our care, pup must be picked up immediately, call your vet and get them seen.

We are continuing to be diligent with cleaning protocols to keep risks down.
