Education of and promoting spaying/neutering and heartworm disease are our main goals. Kritters Looking for Homes is a 501c3 non-profit rescue organization dedicated to placing animals in need in quality forever homes. We do not operate a shelter, so all of our animals are kept in foster homes until a permanent home can be found. This allows us to really get to know the animals' personalities, wan

ts, and needs so that we can best match them with a new family. All donations to Kritters Looking for Homes are tax deductible and very much appreciated!

Meet one CRT's newest fosters – Biscuit. Biscuit is an adorable Chiweenie who has a sweet personality.

Biscuit was found as a stray in the Harlingen TX (south Texas) area. She did not have a collar nor a microchip. Some Good Samaritans in Harlingen kept her safe as they looked for an owner. When no owner stepped forward, they reached out to CRT to see if we could bring her into our program. We said “yes” and Biscuit was transported on an 8 hour transport from the Texas border to the Dallas area. She has been a delight in her foster homes.

Biscuit enjoys playing with the other small dogs in her foster home. She’s frisky and playful in the morning and excited to see her humans when they return home from being away. She enjoys running and tumbling with the other small dogs in her foster home. She also loves going out into the backyard and doing zoomies in the yard. Biscuit will also stalk birds in the backyard (we do not think she would be good with cats).

Biscuit loves toys of all kinds. She enjoys playing tug-of-war. She also loves for you to throw a ball so she can chase it and bring it to you for another round. Biscuit has an adorable habit of cleaning out the toy box every day. She will climb up and down the stairs and leave a toy on each stair. It is as if she is playing her own version of Hansel and Gretel but leaving toys (instead of breadcrumbs) to find her way back to her dog bed! She loves the soft fluffy toys too but tends to “destuff” them fairly quickly.

Biscuit is a little shy when she first meets you. But as soon as she knows she is safe, she quickly warms up and becomes your best friend. She is a huge lap dog and loves to snuggle with her family. She will roll over for belly rubs. Biscuit loves attention and cuddling. She is well behaved and wants to fit in and please her family. Biscuit is very smart and we are beginning to work on commands with her. She already knows “sit”.

Biscuit is potty trained and has not had any accidents in her foster home. She is crate trained and will sleep in her doggy bed inside her crate at night. Biscuit wants you to know that she would love to sleep in the bed with her forever family. If you need a cuddle buddy at night, Biscuit wants to volunteer for the job! Biscuit also is comfortable on a harness and leash.

Biscuit is about 2 years old. She weighs about 12.5 pounds. Biscuit is a Chiweenie (1/2 Chihuahua and 1/2 Dachshund). She has a white coat with tan highlights. She has a long body and long legs. She is super athletic. She can jump and it is easy for her to move up onto your couch, etc. We love her one ear up and one ear down look.

The ideal family for Biscuit would be a laid-back home with high to moderate activity. She would love to have a backyard to play in! We believe Biscuit needs another small dog to play with (without another dog, she would get bored too easily and may get into mischief). Biscuit does bark when she hears strange noises but settles down quickly. She is startled by fast movements, so we recommend either an all adult home or a home with older children (14 and older).

Biscuit is being fostered in the Dallas, Texas area. If she sounds like the new best friend you’ve been looking for, please fill out an application! Our CRT adoption form can be found at: http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/

Biscuit is spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, has completed heartworm treatment and is on heartworm prevention. She is ready for adoption. Are you ready to give her a forever home?

This dog is a CRT rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $300.00 adoption donation required.

As part of our mission to reduce the number of unwanted and sick dogs, we require that all current pets are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and taking heartworm prevention. Applications will not be considered if one or more of these requirements are not met.

After filling out an adoption application (found at http://www.chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/), please email [email protected] if you are interested in this dog. Please be sure to read about our adoption process and then fill out an adoption application before emailing the contact person.

Meet one of the newest Road Trip 4 Paws puppies – Toffee! Toffee is a beautiful tri-color Australian Kelpie. She is amazing and is going to be a great family member.

Toffee was found as a stray in the Harlingen TX (south Texas) area. She did not have a collar nor a microchip. Some Good Samaritans in Harlingen kept her safe as they looked for an owner. When no owner stepped forward, they reached out to Road Trip 4 Paws to see if we could bring Toffee into our program. We said “yes” and she was transported on an 8 hour transport from the Texas border to the Dallas area. This girl has been a delight in her foster home.

Toffee is a fun and playful puppy! She loves the other dog in her foster home (and that dog is bigger, so we know she is good with big dogs!). Toffee loves to run and tumble with her siblings. She also loves to race with them in the house. And the backyard is her playground – she loves to do zoomies around the yard. We adore her joyful ways! Toffee also loves to explore everything in life. Toffee would not be a good fit in a home with cats because she chases the cats. Toffee LOVES toys. Her favorites are the squeaky toys. She also loves for you to throw a ball so she can chase it. Toffee is so good natured and fun!

Toffee adores her family. She is very friendly. We think she is one of the sweetest puppies we have had. She loves to cuddle and she will snuggle with you for hours. If you enjoy relaxing TV time at night, Toffee wants to climb up into your lap and cuddle! She loves to be up against you, sharing your love. And she loves belly rubs. Toffee sticks close to you and will follow you from room to room. Note that she can be a tripping hazard. She is also super fast, so her family will want to ensure there is a safe barrier at the front door so she does not dash out and begin to explore the neighborhood! Toffee loves meeting new people and wants to volunteer to be the social chairman in your home.

Toffee is about 8 months old. She is a little larger at 32 pounds but still a great “small dog” size. Toffee has a beautiful tri-color coat: chocolate brown, tan and white. She has erect ears and beautiful eyes.

The ideal home for Toffee would be one with high energy. She would love to have another young dog (maybe 1-3 years) to play with. She may be good as an only dog but would need a great deal of family attention and interaction. She needs a family who can check on her every 4-6 hours (would not be a good fit for a family that works 10-12 hour days). She is fairly quiet, but she also has high energy. Because of her energy level, we do not feel that Toffee would be a good fit in an apartment environment. Her foster home does not have any human children, but Toffee loved the neighbor children when she met them. We think Toffee will do great with older, mature children (10 and older).

Toffee is extremely intelligent and affectionate. She is a puppy and is learning every day. Toffee will “sit”, will offer her “paw” and she will “lay down”. We are working on other commands too – she is a fast learner and wants to please her family. She is naturally gentle and is very loyal and loving. She would do great in an agility program – she is a natural and loves activity and new challenges.

Toffee has done great with her potty training. She has only had one accident in her foster home and that was during the freeze, so we are forgiving her on that one! She is crate trained and will sleep at night in her crate. Toffee also loves going on walks with a harness and leash and would love daily walks. With her size and personality, we think she would do great with a young and active couple!

Toffee is being fostered in the Dallas-Fort Worth (Texas) area. Our Road Trip 4 Paws adoption form can be found at: https://form.jotform.com/53098141083150

Toffee is spayed, microchipped, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. Her vetwork is completed and she is ready for her forever home.

This dog is a Road Trip 4 Paws rescue. Reference checks, adoption contract and $350.00 adoption donation required.
