MBP Horsemanship I start horses and ponies under saddle the natural way. They will leave here soft, supple and confident

I also handle foals/youngstock
(4)

Starting with roundyard work, this is the place where all the learning begins, it teaches them how to think and react in a positive way, allowing them to take the next step to becoming confident under saddle. They will also undergo groundwork which is also a big part of my training including desensitising them to different things and situations to enable them to think and react in a positive way.

Your horse will be set up with the correct foundation to allow them to go forward in any discipline you choose.

SOLD TO A WONDERFUL HOME

On behalf of client

Snowdon Vale Mini Maestro

Maestro is a 12hh, 12yo gelding, Reg part welsh x ARP. Easy to handle in all ways. Currently coming back into work after a long spell and handling it all in his stride. With his previous owner this little guy has done it all, PC, showing, trail riding. Maestro would make a gorgeous leadline/show pony with his flashy looks. He will require a confident child rider to get him back into the swing of things but I've found he settles into routine very quickly and he is proving to be a kind and very willing pony who loves to be pampered

$4000neg

Perfect 2nd pony. No Beginners please.

Will only be sold to an experienced knowledgable home

Can currently be viewed in Geelong

I have training positions available for May and June. This is purely for horses already under saddle but needing some extra training. Suitable for green horses, horses coming back in to work, horses needing further education and pre sale work.

Please contact me to book a place.

This gorgeous WB girl is with me to be started under saddle. Her owner has done such a great job getting her used to wearing a saddle now it's my turn to get her moving out and confident. Working with her from my saddle horse helps to build her trust in new situations . She can get a little worried about new things so teaming her with a buddy horse helps her with her confidence.

First ride for this gorgeous boy. He was so relaxed and handled everything so well. Very proud of his attitude towards all that was asked of him. Looking forward to seeing him develop under saddle

Very good advice for those with young horses. 90 days onwards sets up such a great foundation and success

If we could only make this truth fully understood in the horse world, how much time and trouble would horses, buyers, owners and trainers save? Fewer horses would be mishandled, misunderstood and e…

When there is no set agenda and this happens 😍 this gorgeous boy is here to be started under saddle. Second day in and this impromptu first "sit" happened. Banjo had a visit with me last year for some training and to set him up correctly for his future saddle career. His wonderful owner has continued with his training and now it's time to put it all into practise. When they have a great foundation, training is as I like it "uneventful" onwards and upwards for this boy

This is probably the most common habit riders have. There is absolutely no need to kick or squeeze with every stride to keep your horse moving. It is the riders job to set the gait and the horses job to stay there til asked otherwise. To ride a horse that has learnt to carry you happily and freely without a nagging leg should be the goal for every rider

Stop Kicking With Your Legs

https://dressagetraining.tv/dead-to-the-leg/

If you are having to kick just to 'keep going' what do you do when you want something more?? This article and video talks about a couple of solutions to help both rider and horse.

It's getting to that time of year when our hairy friends need to become show ponies again 😂 so I am now offering clipping services (no sedation). Pls PM me for prices.

Love this, the feet are first then the mind

“It’s the control of the feet through the mind that a person [should be] after. If you’ve missed that on the ground, [from] the start, why you’ve missed the part that means the most to the horse. The person should be focused on getting the best possible connection with the horse on the ground - through feel - if they want to have those parts of the horse available to them when they ride." - Bill Dorrance

Our Story

Specialising in training and re-educating of horses and ponies of all sizes. Using a mix of horsemanship and traditional methods I teach the horses to be a soft and willing partner. I do not use any form of artificial aids as I strongly believe they are not required in any form of training our equine friends. Horses are brought along at their own pace in a gentle and willing manner.

Youngstock handling and float training is also available.

Lessons both ridden and on the ground are available on request.

Obstacle and Horsemanship clinics are also offered on occasion
