The Potcake Party at 🐾 🐶 ❤️

Baha Mar invited us to showcase some of our gorgeous pups. Lots of cuddles, kisses and play time out of the shelter.

This is a great way for people visiting The Bahamas to see what we do and get to know what a ‘Potcake’ actually is!

Our next Potcake Party will be 7th December 2-4pm at the baha mar resort!

Nearly 4 YEARS in the shelter 💔

Meet Yorkshire and Somerset - these sisters came into our shelter as tiny pups.

They have grown up in the shelter and are the longest shelter residents. This bonded pair are so gentle even though humans still generally make them nervous. Our staff have never had problems with them, only that they are extremely shy. Not an aggressive bone in their bodies.

Thanks to our dog walking group, more specifically Ian, these guys have ventured out of their kennels for the first time in years 🥹.

We are desperately looking for the perfect home for them. An older family would be best. A family willing to give them patience and freedom. A yard to relax in, roll around in the grass and some blankets to snuggle on in the evening.

They would be fine with cats and are so submissive they would be good with other dogs.

These girlies have to be adopted together, they are all each other have in the world and provide each other with so much comfort. York only came out of the kennel as she saw Somerset taking the leap of faith.

Please share and let’s help find these beautiful girls a home.

Sheba update ❤️

Baark! have partnered up with us to help with her care and we are so grateful! 💜

We got her hospitalized at Caves veterinary hospital for the last several days for observation. (BIG thanks to everyone at caves for always going above and beyond 👏).

Her body is extremely fragile but she’s got a sparkle in her eye - a will to live. Also a VERY good appetite. Sheba has spondylosis deformans, which is a degenerative condition of the vertebral bones (part of the natural aging process). We do not know if the cancer has spread from her paw.

Sheba has been put on medication to make her comfortable and yesterday went into a foster home 🙏 We want to make sure she experiences all the love and comforts of a home life - what every dog deserves!

We will reassess her in a couple of weeks and decide if she’s suitable for amputation.

Frisco update ❤️

We are THRILLED to share that Frisco has made such an improvement 🥹. His sinus infection is subsiding and he’s started treatment for his TVT tumor.

Last week we were all in tears and said we had to give him 24 hours to see if he made some improvement. It’s hard to see an animal in pain or suffering but we asked for prayers and it’s worked. 🥹

This dog is a miracle. Coming into the shelter back in early September, his body was in such dire shape. We may have had set backs but every time he has pushed back fighting harder.

Today his foster momma came to visit him and you can see how happy he was. We are hoping on Wednesday to discharge him back into his foster home.

This !!!

When people say they don’t know what they’re getting with a rescue dog, I say, you’re getting a dog that has been evaluated by us, so people and usually dog friendly, vetted by us, and cared for by us and our rescue partners. But, prior to that, they might have been emotionally or physically abused or neglected.

If given the chance, they are the most appreciative and loving companions. But, some need more time, love and patience than others. Please look at it from their perspective, and give them that chance.

Warning ‼️ Upsetting content!!

A few days ago Frisco took a turn for the worse with what appears to be a severe sinus infection.

This precious boy has stollen the hearts of everyone at the shelter and his foster momma.
The swelling has gone down but he’s still not out of the woods! Please send your love and prayers for Frisco. Our vet team are working so hard to save him ❤️

We also want to thank his incredible foster momma. She’s given him a loving home for the last several weeks and not all strays get the chance to feel love and comfort like that!

Happy Sunday 😃 Meet our bundle of sunshine, Rowena. 🐾 🐈 Rowena has been with us for 6 months now. She is loving and sweet who loves nothing more than cuddles and head scratches. As you can see in the video, she does have deformed eye lids. She can see but would just require to be an inside cat only. Sometimes animals with certain deformities are overlooked, which is sad. In fact, many animals that have some sort of special needs end up being the most loving and affectionate pets. Rowena is 2.5years old, fully vaccinated, spayed, dewormed and ready for adoption. 🆘 URGENT FOSTER NEEDED FOR SHEBA! 🆘 Our beautiful girl is in need of a loving foster home where she can gain the strength she needs to undergo surgery for a leg amputation. Currently, she is strong enough and too great of a risk to undergo surgery. This girl has suffered on the streets for years and finally collapsed as her body gave in. Thankfully she was brought to us 🙏 She is a gentle soul who just needs the comfort of a quiet space, surrounded by love and blankets. She’s fighting to hold on and we are trying everything to make sure she has a chance. Meet Duke 🐈‍⬛ 💙 Duke is our oldest shelter resident at 14 years old!! He’s been with us for 3 months and shelter life is hard on this old boy. He is unable to gain weight and it’s evident he is stressed. His bloodwork is clear, he’s fully vaccinated, dewormed and neutered. He does have signs of arthritis which is not surprising given his age. Please help us find this beautiful boy a family to live out his golden years in the comfort of a loving home. HAPPY SUNDAY! What an exciting morning we had. 41 beautiful dogs left the shelter behind and flew to Pennsylvania to start their lives in forever homes. THANK YOU to everyone who made this possible. Donors, volunteers, rescue partners, adopters, our dedicated staff, wildflowers for their transport truck and Odyssey Aviation for always going above and beyond for our animals. 🙏 👏 🙌 Here is a little behind the scenes video of a few of our animals in their crates before they left the shelter. We had some long term shelter dogs who have been with us for nearly 3 years (Pearly, Bowser and April), Momma Iggy’s pups and our special needs pup Lilo. We will share more on them soon! More kittens dumped!! 😡 Yesterday, we found one kitten in our dumpster. Not sure how she got there but we hope it wasn’t intentional. Last night at 10pm one of our staff had to go back into the office to collect some paperwork. On arrival she found 3 little kittens who had clearly been left on the front porch. They wouldn’t know how to fend for themselves in a new area and were vulnerable to both dogs and cars. When we say we are full, we really are. Our shelter has 3 times the number of animals that we can manage, both physically and financially. Please, spay and neuter! It’s the only way to stop this craziness. These momma cats can have 4 litters a year. So simply bringing the kittens and not getting momma fixed is unacceptable. One unspayed female cat can have up to 400 kittens in her lifetime! Just think about that! Baark! offer free spays and neuters! There is no such thing as ‘accidental litters’. For those that don’t believe in spay and neuter, come and volunteer at the shelter and see what we face. Open your eyes to the suffering around you. We hope that soon there will be laws in place that require you to spay/ neuter or have to pay a large fee to keep an animal intact. Cats and dogs are domesticated animals and should not be on the streets.
