Copied

This is the second dog in the last two weeks that we’ve had come in to our hospital with this type of bone stuck around it’s mandible. Separate companies but the EXACT same design.

Please do NOT buy this type of bone for your pup! It’s not worth the risk. Luckily for this patient, our technician was able to wiggle it free but our previous patient was under general anesthesia for nearly a half hour while we went through every tool in our arsenal to saw through both sides of the bone safely.
Both dogs are lucky that they did not end up with lacerations or broken teeth.

Our sweet Henry has been diagnosed with cancer. It’s one of the bad ones.

We are heartbroken. For ourselves and for our baby Baloo. We are already crying for the decisions to come. But Henry is the toughest dog around, and there is definitely some fighting to be done.

I know that we come here to smile, and to feel joyful. To be recharged. Henry has always been the giver, always the helper…
but please send him all of the love and keep our little family in your thoughts.

The incredible 'Vick dog' era is over.

On Saturday, we had the great honor and privilege of attending the transition of the sweet, shy Frodo as his family helped him pass over to be with the rest of the dogs from the group.

He was the last of 48 brave survivors from that game changing case. Seized and rescued in 2007, we estimate that he would've been 15 years old - and THIS is the important part - the last 14 years of his life were spent being pampered like a prince with the Ramirez family and dogs. Sweet Frodo - How we loved him. He was one of the bravest survivors we've ever met.

We didn't realize at the time that Jonny Justice had just passed away in a private moment with his people, Cris & Jen, just two days earlier. Oh Jonny! We thought you might live forever.

And finally - in the first week of October, Letti de Little's sweet man Uba passed over. We've been grappling to find the words, and now Uba's friends have pushed that door wide open.

Warm sympathies and gratitude to the families. We'll come back with more on each special dog and the lives they lived, but for now, it's time to have a little cry and say good-bye to them all.

(Photo: Frodo gobbled that big bag of steak under the tears of his mama, Kim Ramirez and her daughter Dominique. Thank you Dr. Williams for tending to his medical needs up until the end. He trusted you and you made this moment so perfect.)

We are coming to you today with a very special $5 Friday post.

Meet Juno, Pippa and Cheetah.

These three sweet puppy mill survivors suffered unimaginable cruelty just to make puppies for the pet industry. They all had varying degrees of compromised physical and mental health but truly began healing when they were adopted by Judith Neal and her family in Wisconsin.

The Neal family believes in our work so much that they graciously offered to match all donations up to $5000 through the month of December. That means if you donate $5 it becomes $10, $25 becomes $50 and $100 becomes $200.

If you are able to give, please consider helping us start 2022 off on a strong note so we can continue being a loud and effective voice for the puppy mill dogs.
