Pine Barrens Animal Rescue Project Cats seem to be everywhere around our forest either wild or dropped off. We are trying to save them from the shelter and give them a new life.

It is bittersweet to close this chapter for our group of cats that meant so much to us. They are in their new place and will be warm for the winter and safe in their new home. The new owner of the cats will be taking full financial responsibility and care for the cats. Hopefully some or all will find homes but if not, they will be cared for the long run.

We volunteers can’t thank you enough for all of the shares, donations and support to help these kitties have a chance. I have never met so many kind people that restored my faith in this world. My friends, neighbors and family definitely supported this endeavor too. It helped to heal my heart as well and make me a better person. Animals don’t have a voice so we need to speak for them.

I still have Farrah acclimating to a home life, and I am fostering her until we are ready to find her a new home. My cat,Abi, isn’t too fond of other cats but she may change. Time will tell. We also have another kitten Snickers that is still available and we will post information for both of them on other posts.

In the next few weeks we will be breaking down some of the shed and leaving some of it for other cats to live inside. If we sell anything it will be under my name and I will donate all monies to help other cats with medical, transportation and trapping. Otherwise we will be donating supplies for other animals. Thank you again everyone ❤️

leave the old you and your old ways behind and look forward with the new you. a butterfly doesn't return to its former self or choose a life of crawling and cocoons once it has met the sky. it has wings now. it has been transformed. set free. someone once said "you can't talk butterfly language to caterpillar people." it simply won't be understood. you have have an entirely new language and an entirely new flight path. and your whole body, mind and spirit will naturally follow.

It's ! When your standard Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) trapping tools and techniques just aren't getting the job done, it's time to "MeowGyver" a solution.

Cats who witness their buddies getting trapped become instantly trap-savvy, and it may take years to trap them…if you're lucky. So how do you trap a tight-knit group of cats with no witnesses?

One way to trap multiple cats with no witnesses is to get them all at once using a drop trap. Wait until all the cats are fully under the trap and focused on the bait, then bring the trap down, cover it, and transfer the cats individually to covered box traps.

Not comfortable using a drop trap? Use regular rectangular box traps — one trap per cat — to catch multiple cats. Place the traps strategically so that the cats can't see each other getting trapped. Use objects and/or vegetation from the site to block the view from each trap to the others. Cover traps fully ASAP after each cat is trapped. Better yet, to avoid disturbing cats who haven't yet gone into traps, cover each trap almost fully when you set it, rigging the cover so it comes down as the front door closes behind a cat. This will help the trapped cats calm down quickly, letting them stay in place for a little while as you wait for the others to go into traps. The sound of traps closing doesn't bother cats. Just remember: No witnesses!

Hello everyone ! Sorry it’s been a minute but I had some days off. While I was gone there has been an update to the cat project. Someone is going to foster the cats for the winter and thereafter. They are in the process of transporting them to their new home. It’s an insulated building with large windows so that will definitely be a plus in the upcoming months. There are 7 more left and I got to see them today!

We couldn’t have done this without the help of each and everyone of you. It has been a journey and not done yet. As is closes up we are going to be selling items and donating to the person that helped with their medical needs so more cats can be saved.

Here are some pictures of today and I will update as everything keeps going. In the meantime, we are still taking care of the ones in the shed and they are doing great. Have a great day!

Adoption Update:
Snickers is still on her journey to finding her perfect match. Snickers went into a foster home where she’s been blooming and gaining confidence every day. This sweet girl absolutely loves her furry siblings and thrives with other cats around. We believe Snickers would do best in a home with another cat to help her feel safe and secure.

While she still needs a bit of patience, her foster family sees her growing bolder each day. Snickers is really coming into her own as a playful, silly girl who will bring so much joy to the right home.

We’re confident she’s ready to be more cooperative this time, so feel free to swing by Saturday, 10/19 in Smithville for the dog parade and meet Snickers at the Paw Dazzle shop! 🐾

If you're unable to help a critter in need, at least take the time to surrender him/her to your local county shelter. Even if they're unable to find a rescue to help or an adopter, at least he/she will be safe, comfortable (not freeze to death or die from heat stroke/dehydration), fed (instead of starving) or hit by a vehicle. Some ways of getting their wings 🌈 are more humane than others. 😿
