Safe Haven Animal Rescue, is a volunteer led non-profit 501(c)(3), saving dogs & cats in Oklahoma. Safe Haven Animal Rescue, Inc.

is a non-profit 501(c)(3), charitable rescue organization dedicated to finding homes for homeless and abandoned cats & dogs. We rescue the majority of our animals from shelters where they are destined to die. Others come from puppy mills or from pet owners who are unable or unwilling to care for their pets any longer. At this time, Safe Haven Animal Rescue, Inc. is limited to finding homes for ani

mals who are being cared for in foster homes. Our cats when available for adoption will be at the Yukon, Midwest City or Norman Petsmart Catteries. Our dogs will be adopted out of foster care.

🐾 Meet Violet: The Low Rider We Didn't See Coming! 🐾

When Violet joined our program at just a few months old, she looked like your typical adorable puppy — long legs, big paws, the whole package. But as she grew, something magical happened… her body grew and her legs didn’t! Now at 8 months old, Violet is officially a low rider and we are OBSESSED.

She’s got the cutest stocky little body, the biggest heart, and a personality that lights up every room (and couch… and lap). Honestly, we have NO idea how this perfect girl hasn’t been scooped up yet. She’s good with other dogs and cats, loves people, and is ready for adventures — or naps, whichever you prefer.

❤️ MEET EVE❤️
🐾 Quiet Soul with a Gentle Heart 🐾

Eve is a six-year-old tortie with one eye and a deeply independent spirit. She’s been with us before—adopted into a loving home—but she was returned after her adopter passed away. Now, she’s patiently waiting once again for someone special to give her the calm, understanding home she deserves.

She had her eye removed as a kitten and is fully acclimated—it doesn’t slow her down one bit. Eve loves gentle pets (especially during mealtime!) and responds with purrs and head boops. She isn’t demanding, but she absolutely enjoys affection—on her terms.

In her previous home, Eve eventually began sleeping in bed with her person. She may be quiet and reserved at first, but she’s capable of deep connection when given time. She also has a playful side—we often find toys she’s batted around and left in her litter box like little treasures.

Eve seems to do well with other calm cats and might adjust to an older, respectful, cat-savvy dog. She would thrive in a calm, mature household without young children—ideally with someone who’s owned cats before and appreciates the joy of watching a cat come into her own.

❗️Seeking Volunteers❗️

We’re looking for dedicated volunteers to help out at our adoption centers located inside our PetSmart Charity location at Norman, Midwest City, and Yukon. Each location offers two daily shifts, each lasting approximately two hours.

Volunteers must be comfortable handling cats, scooping litter boxes, and providing enrichment—letting the cats out to play, cuddle, and explore. While loving on cats is definitely a perk, this is a detail-oriented role that requires responsibility and follow-through. Volunteers must be reliable, communicative, and have their own transportation.

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to make a difference—even volunteering just once a week helps more than you know!

Requirements:

- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be dependable and comfortable working with cats
- Each shift is approximately 2 hours

This sweet, soulful boy is 80 pounds of pure love, packaged in a lap dog’s mindset. Mr. Beans is the kind of dog who makes everyone feel like they’re his favorite person. He’s crate trained, potty trained, knows his basic commands, and is fully up to date on vaccines — but his favorite skill is snuggling.

He LOVES other dog friends and would thrive in a home with a canine companion to romp and cuddle with. His gentle, loving spirit and big heart are impossible to resist.

❗️Safe Haven Animal Rescue Needs Fosters!

This information is urgent, and we’re grateful you’re taking the time to read it.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, volunteer-run Rescue. We do not have an intake / holding facility. Cats and kittens stay in foster homes until they are healthy, fully vetted, and ready for adoption. All of our foster homes are full and the requests and need for help keep coming.

A lot of people see us posting on local pages saying, “Please email us”—and we mean it. We’re happy to help. But the truth is, we need fosters to be able to say yes to those requests. We also see people recommending us to others, we are so glad our community knows we will help and want to, but we cant without open foster homes.

We’re consistently responding, coordinating, and doing everything we can to help—but there’s no facility full of staff, no endless space. To help more animals, we need more people to step up and foster.

The thought of bringing another animal into your home—especially when you already have pets—can definitely feel inconvenient. And honestly, sometimes it is. But it’s temporary. If you don’t know what fostering really looks like, we’re happy to walk you through it. In most cases, it’s a short-term commitment of a couple months until the animal is healthy, fixed, and ready for adoption.

We find their forever homes.
We screen the adopters.
We pay for all vetting.
You provide a safe space, love, and transportation to vet appointments.
We guide you through everything.

We are so thankful for our fosters—they are some of the most compassionate, dedicated people we’ve ever met. And we know there are more people out there just like them, who simply haven’t found the right time or opportunity to get involved.

We do ask that if you foster through Safe Haven that you only foster through Safe Haven to ensure consistency, health, and safety for the animals in our care.

Fostering is one of the most selfless, compassionate things a person can do. These animals didn’t ask to be in these situations. But with your help, we have the ability to change everything for them.

Cece is here to steal your heart…and maybe your snacks.

This spunky little fluffball is living for the good times. Cece’s hobbies include chasing toys with reckless abandon, mastering the art of the puppy dog eyes, and making instant best friends with literally everyone she meets. She’s all wiggles, kisses, and pure puppy joy.

What an incredible day at Brews and Tattoos OKC!

Six dogs found their forever homes, dozens of awesome people came out for tattoos, local small businesses were supported, and together we raised $1,100 for the animals in our care! Thank you to everyone who came out and made it happen — we’re so grateful for this community!

Willow is a loving girl with the tiniest, raspy meow that will steal your heart in a second. While she may come off as shy at first, once she knows she can trust you, she will roll around for pets and treats once she knows she is safe.

Willow's favorite things are lounging in the sun, playing chase with a string toy, or munching on some snacks from her humans. She also is often found at the top of her cat tree, watching the world go by. Willow is a tiny girl with the biggest heart, and she's waiting for someone to pick her and love her forever!

Sherlock and Watson are two-year-old bonded brothers with playful, affectionate natures who share a very close bond. Having recently lost their owner to a tragic accident, they are still adjusting and will need time, patience, and understanding as they settle into a new home. They will thrive with an adopter who has realistic expectations - an adopter willing to give them the time they need to feel secure both in their home and with their new family.

They have previously lived with dogs, so a home with cat-savvy dogs may be a good fit. However, they are unlikely to do well in a home with young children. While we don’t have much background information on them, we’re confident that with the right match, their sweet and playful personalities will blossom. Please note that they are very sensitive to change and have been under significant stress in their current environment, so a calm, patient home is essential for their success.
