The Tex Rex Cooler is a Proximity Detecting switch that allows your Dog to turn their own fan on, whenever they want, simply by walking or lying in front of it! The Tex Rex Cooler is a Weight Sensing Proximity Floor Mat Switch which can be used to allow your dog to turn their own fan on (or any other 110vAC device) whenever they want, and then when they step away from the fan it immediately turns
off, all completely automatically! The short answer is I'm disabled and it's painful for me to bend or walk. We also have Arctic Breed Dogs who LOVE to sit in front of a fan! The dogs will sit in front of the fan for hours and hours a day, but not continuously. They frequently get up to patrol the house and check on the wife and I, go outside to potty/chase birds/sniffy the breeze/etc and while they are doing this, the fan was still running. It's loud, and wasteful of electricity. After YEARS of having to listen to the fan running while the dog isn't there, or us turning on the fan whenever we leave the house, I realized "There HAS to be a way to do this better!" and do it in a way that is 1) Safe and 2) completely controlled by the dogs. The intent was for when they were in front of the fan, it would turn on, and the moment they got up and walked away, it would turn off, immediately! What ELSE can the Tex Rex Cooler be used for? Basically any 110vAC device which requires less than 6amps power. While I use it primarily for the dogs fan, there's no reason you can't use it for any other device. Just plug the Tex Rex Cooler into the wall, plug your device into the Tex Rex Cooler, put the floor mat down, plug it into the controller, and watch it work. Do you have an old dog that needs and would love to use a heating blanket? The Tex Rex will work for that too! How about does someone in your home use an electronic device which they want powered on only when they are in the room or sitting at their desk like a lamp, fan, radio... Turn the kids TV off when they leave the room... whatever... same thing! Plug in, place down the mat, and enjoy! What's different about the Tex Rex sensor / Why is it so special? Unlike PIR (motion detection) or Infrared Sensors, the Tex Rex sensor works directly by sensing the weight of your pet. The Floor Mat can detect as litle as 5-6lbs so even works with very small dogs. Once weight has been detected then the power is provided to the plugged in device! Once the object moves away, power is shut off, immediately! Is the Tex Rex Cooler safe? In short, you bet! Safety was a top most priority and part of the reason why the Tex Rex Cooler isn't cheap. This is a high end pet product intended for use by pets which can be extrodinarily destructive sometimes. I use this for my OWN pets, and wouldn't have invented anything which wasn't as possibly safe as it could be! The device also conforms to all UL safety criteria and uses all UL certified components. The device uses a tried, tested, and certified power module and is fused at 5 Amps. That said, it IS a power outlet, the same as any other wall power outlet. So, don't let little Bobby go sticking paperclips into it, OK! :)
When will the Tex Rex Cooler be available for purchase? We are working on the final design changes and heading into Beta Testing. Full product launch is anticipated for sometime in late August or early September 2012!
