FCI BREEDER OF SCHIPPERKES Dog breeding is the practice of mating selected dogs with the intent to maintain and improve specific qualities and characteristics.

Such as a better breed type, health and temperament. This is our goal and also our responsibility as a breeder. A serious breeder can picture him/herself the ideal type of dog and will strive for this. Breeding is based on certain data, combined with our experience and knowledge this should lead to the desired result. We can read who the parents and grandparents are from the pedigrees of dogs and

surch for pure elements to obtain the qualities of a typical Ca de Bou. We combine this data with our experience and knowledge of the ancestors, how they look, what their special strengths and faults are, from which line they come from. The state of health of the parents like genetic diseases and inherited disorders. All this you have to know before you start breeding. Because if you start breeding why not in the best possible way. After all, the dogs that are born now are the dogs of the future. A breeder determines the future of the breed and the survival of the breed. Breeding can be expensive, time-consuming and sometimes very depressive. But for many Ca de Bou breeders, nothing is more rewarding than being involved in the life of a new pup of Ca de Bou.

In 1936, the dog sack was invented to keep cars clean while traveling with pets. This canvas bag attached to the outside of the car, allowing dogs to ride safely with an air hole for them to enjoy the breeze.

But the question remains whether this was safe and whether the dogs appreciated this.....

Queen Alexandra of England (1844-1925) also had a Schipperke in her kennels. This painting, made in 1902 by Thomas Blinks and Frederick Morgan, shows the Queen with three of her grandchildren. The Schipperke stands up to Princess Mary (1897-1935). She was born at Sandringham House.

Ook koningin Alexandra van Engeland (1844-1925) had in haar kennels een Schipperke. Op dit schilderij, gemaakt in 1902 door Thomas Blinks en Frederick Morgan, zien we de koningin met drie van haar kleinkinderen. Het Schipperke springt op tegen prinses Mary (1897-1935). Zij is geboren op ‘Sandringham House’.

Lillian Tiffany was born 10 April 1900 in Ashford, England of American parents. She was raised by her paternal grandmother, Sarah Morgan Tiffany, in Washington D.C. Sickly as a child, she was educated at home; not allowed to play with other children, she developed a close companionship with dogs. By the time she was a teenager, she was sketching animals: dogs, bears, rabbits, deer; it was at this time that she determined to become a canine portrait painter. She then went to study with George B. Bridgman at the Art Student's League of New York and Raymond Neilson at the National Academy of Design, New York City. In the course of her career, she did at least one illustration of each of the 109 breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club, many of which appeared in the pages of the Gazette. In private life, she was married to Durant Rose.

As of today, schipperke 'Donna Het Zwarte Schoffie' will join our dog pack and family with her presence. We hope to enjoy this little 'black devil' for a long time. Her callingname will be Mirai, which is Japanese for FUTURE.....
