Kennel The Rocking Flatlands FCI BREEDER OF SCHIPPERKES Dog breeding is the practice of mating selected dogs with the intent to maintain and improve specific qualities and characteristics.

Such as a better breed type, health and temperament. This is our goal and also our responsibility as a breeder. A serious breeder can picture him/herself the ideal type of dog and will strive for this. Breeding is based on certain data, combined with our experience and knowledge this should lead to the desired result. We can read who the parents and grandparents are from the pedigrees of dogs and

surch for pure elements to obtain the qualities of a typical Ca de Bou. We combine this data with our experience and knowledge of the ancestors, how they look, what their special strengths and faults are, from which line they come from. The state of health of the parents like genetic diseases and inherited disorders. All this you have to know before you start breeding. Because if you start breeding why not in the best possible way. After all, the dogs that are born now are the dogs of the future. A breeder determines the future of the breed and the survival of the breed. Breeding can be expensive, time-consuming and sometimes very depressive. But for many Ca de Bou breeders, nothing is more rewarding than being involved in the life of a new pup of Ca de Bou.

Lillian Tiffany was born 10 April 1900 in Ashford, England of American parents. She was raised by her paternal grandmother, Sarah Morgan Tiffany, in Washington D.C. Sickly as a child, she was educated at home; not allowed to play with other children, she developed a close companionship with dogs. By the time she was a teenager, she was sketching animals: dogs, bears, rabbits, deer; it was at this time that she determined to become a canine portrait painter. She then went to study with George B. Bridgman at the Art Student's League of New York and Raymond Neilson at the National Academy of Design, New York City. In the course of her career, she did at least one illustration of each of the 109 breeds recognized by the American Kennel Club, many of which appeared in the pages of the Gazette. In private life, she was married to Durant Rose.

As animals became more a part of society, pets and work animals became more important dictated on how they looked. The animals were groomed, either by their owners or professional pet groomers. Animals such as horses were groomed by stable boys or their owners as a kind of the embellishing of the owners taste and wealth. As animal labor was replaced by automobiles and machines, the grooming of the animal took on a more personal reflection of the owner, particularly in high society. A well groomed and clean animal was a sign of wealth and prosperity.

Grooming is not just about maintaining your dog’s level of cleanliness, and it is not just about keeping your dog good-looking. Grooming is about maintaining both your dog’s physical health as well as its appearance.
Grooming is a vital part in the well-being and healthiness of a dog which can improve their lifespan. All Breeds require grooming, how much depends on the breed, age, or health of the pet. Regular grooming helps to ensure the dog is healthy and comfortable. It is important to note that while many dogs shed, others (such as the Poodle), do not shed as profusely, and require grooming by a professional.
