Shyner was taken away from his mother at just a few days old, and sold at auction for a few $’s because he couldn’t walk. We could not undo that 1st week of life and the pain and loss he suffered, But here, he has known nothing but love, compassion, and healing.

A dangerous Arctic Blast is hitting much of the country this week with potentially fatal wind chills dropping well below 0°F starting tonight. The Xanadu rescue animals are especially vulnerable to extreme cold, and we want to ensure they have everything they need to stay warm and comfortable.

We Need the following:
☃️Extra Orchard/Alfalfa Hay for horses & cows; Mixed grass hay for goats/sheep
☃️Added feed supplies to increase energy levels that are depleted in these extreme temps
☃️Additional Straw and Shavings for bedding
☃️2 extra heat lamps and heating equipment
☃️To ensure water supplies don't freeze
☃️Emergency veterinary supplies
☃️3 new horse blankets for Ripley, Ella Grace, & Diamond

This time is critical, and these critters are depending on us. We will not let them down. Thank you for helping the Xanadu Animals stay safe and warm during these treacherous winter months. Every donation, no matter how small, is life changing!

It may be Winter Weather around here, BUT......it is still a very SPECIAL Day. Happy birthday to the one and only Woody.
Woody is the oldest of our goat herd (by just a few days) and also the Alpha of the group. He watches out for everyone and keeps them in line. He is protective against strangers, and he has a sweet and tender nature with those he knows and loves.
Woody didn't have the best start at life, but he made it safe to Xanadu and is living his best life here. Happy Birthday my sweet boy. We❤Woody! Happy 6th birthday beautiful boy! 🎂🎊🎈

Actress Samantha Rose Baldwin was trying to get home in the Palisades fire to save her 10-year old cat. Traffic was at a standstill so she abandoned her car and ran for 15 minutes straight to get home.
She found her cat who was hiding, put her in a blanket, put her in a cat backpack and fled the house. At this point the route where she had left her car was on fire. So she ran for her life down to the ocean carrying her cat on her back and a roller bag.
She made it. She saved her cat.

Today is the beautiful Betty White’s birthday. Betty White was a legend! Not just in her amazing acting career, but She was “a friend” to all of us in many ways there. Her compassion for all living creatures was immeasurable. It’s hard to believe she has been gone a couple of years. Yet her legendary spirit lives on. 🥶🥶Arctic blast is heading our way this weekend, stretching into next week. During these super cold weeks, we go through twice as much hay to keep everyone fed & warm. It takes a lot of internal heat to fight off 5° temps and many of our rescues are immune compromised. We are still working on raising the funds for this week's hay delivery. TBT moment--one tiny Peanut just a few days after her rescue. She wasn't supposed to make it. She was ruled failure to thrive.
That was almost 4 years ago.......
She defied the odds and proved what rescue and heart can do for any life that is given a second chance.
