WESLEY AND FCACC NEED YOUR HELP!

Wesley was posted by animal control as "*EXTREMELY URGENT - NEEDS OUT TONIGHT (1/9) COMPLEX INTESTINAL PROBLEMS, LIKELY NEEDS HOSPITALIZATION*
URGENT - He is having some GI upset. Panleuk test was negative, but blood with stool. The vet mentioned possibly needing a scope if it doesn’t stop, but still trying to touch base with her to get more details
Update 1/9: Wesley has a thickened stomach and intestinal wall that will most likely need biopsy and a scope. His heart rate dropped under anesthesia, but is good now. This guy will need out tonight for more complex care!"

FCACC answered their plea and Wesley was transported to MedVet Chicago to get the urgent medical care he required, where he currently remains hospitalized.
He not only has intestinal issues resulting in vomiting blood and diarrhea, but he has a severe upper respiratory infection, as well, and is running a high fever. He is on IV fluids and antibiotics, anti-nausea medication, breathing treatments, appetite stimulants, steroids, and is undergoing extensive diagnostics.

We would sincerely appreciate any monetary help you can provide as we continue to try to save Wesley.

A face that will melt your heart!
Our first canine foster of the year is Equinox, a super sweet 2-3 year old mixed breed. Though underweight and a little bashful, we are confident she will thrive in her foster home where she will receive lots of love and care.
We'll keep you posted on when she will be available for adoption.

FEATURED FELINE

Bella would like to be your new work from home companion in the feline form. She’s sweet, polite, and not overly demanding of attention, and will contently sleep in your office while you work. Her favorite activities in order of preference are eating, napping, and being groomed with her favorite brush. She is a vocal kitty who will emit a good grumble when she’s ready to be fed, or will meow loudly if she doesn’t know where you are. She would love to cuddle up in bed with you at night. She loves her nom noms sooo much and is prone to overeating if given the opportunity. Due to a sensitive digestive track, she should only eat a specific food. While she enjoys attention and being petted, humans will need to be observant and attune to her needs and be sure she’s ready to receive attention as she will occasionally "nip" when overstimulated. She is best suited for a home without young children, and would prefer to be the only pet. Though she occasionally likes to chase ribbons to entertain herself, she doesn’t need a lot of playtime.
Bella has been waiting far too long to find her forever family. Maybe that's because she's been waiting for you!

The end of December is not usually a time when there are any kittens available for adoption, so if you are looking to add young feline to your family and not have to wait until Spring when kittens start to become available again, here is your chance!

Gnocchi (now named Betty), and her brother Ravioli (kna Gus) are living their best lives in their new home being loved by a little girl. It doesn't get much better than that!

When Alice got herself in trouble it took a whole team to get her out.

Her spay surgery was a success...at first. Until her incision started annoying her. Then the licking started and the stitches gave way. And soon the attractive little pittie mix was lying in a pool of blood. She needed Emergency Vet Care IMMEDIATELY to save her life. And Friends was there for her when the call from Animal Care and Control came through.

We rushed her to the amazing 24-hour Med Vet here in Chicago where they set to work on repairing the damage. It was touch and go for about 2 days. Then we saw recovery take hold! But she wasn't completely out of the woods yet.

We were desperate for a foster home, and our friends at Animal Control came through! Dark Horse Dogs was their ace-in-the-hole for Alice! We are deeply grateful for the volunteers and management of Dark Horse Dogs (and Chicago Animal Care and Control) for partnering with Friends to save this beautiful little dog.

Join us at Chicago Animal Care and Control for a very special adoption day on Saturday, December 14th! As part of BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Empty the Shelters™ - Holiday Hope event, adoption fees are waived for ALL pets now through December 17th, but this Saturday is THE day to visit!

Volunteers will be out in full force to help you find your perfect match.

Meet incredible shelter pets and receive personalized assistance to make the adoption process smooth and easy.

These two beautiful Mainecoon mixes will be at Petco - N Orleans today from 11-3pm. They are super sweet 8 month old spayed females who can be adopted as a pair or singly.
