OUR PROCESS
Lucky Labs get most of their dogs from local high kill shelters in North and South Carolina. We rescue many just a day before they are to be euthanized. We have volunteers that work daily with local shelters to learn of new dogs that are surrendered. When Lucky Labs Rescue brings a lucky lab into our rescue, each one is immediately vetted for vaccines, spayed or neutered, tested for heartworms, and wormed for intestinal parasites. The dogs are temperament tested and are put onto our foster program while they await their furever homes. Once someone sees a lab they are interested in and an application has been completed, Lucky Labs Rescue does a phone interview, checks the vet reference that is provided by the prospective adopter, and then we do a home visit. The home visit is very important. This is a great time to discuss nutritional needs, housebreaking, etc. with the adoptive family to see if they have any questions. We require each of our dogs to be kept inside at night, no exceptions. We make sure the family understands that any pet has to be treated as "a member of the family". We encourage families to participate in obedience classes if necessary. Lastly, we discuss the exercise options for the dog. Labs are energetic dogs that need proper exercise. DONATIONS

✨Meet super sweet Cooper!!✨ This handsome puppy and his sister were dumped at a construction site. 😭 They were found emaciated and brought to the local shelter. Cooper is a love and, despite what he has endured in his short life, the happiest boy ever 💘 His tail never stops. 🥰 Our vet thinks Cooper is about four months old and red bone hound. 🫶🏼 Cooper is in a foster home with three other dogs and his favorite thing to do is play tug or chase each other in the backyard. 🥲 He is learning about the crate, house training, and commands. 👍🏻

Lucy is a 3-5 yo Female lab mix. She is HW NEG and located in Blacksburg SC. She would be best in a home with another med-large dog as she LOVES to play with other dogs but is too much for small dogs. 🐕 She has come a long way from being a shy scared girl to now being a REAL DOG! She has made amazing strides with her foster. She’s no longer scared of men and loud noises. Now all she wants to do is play and be loved. 💕
Lucy has maintained her gentle and loving nature and will be a kind and well-mannered companion. Lucy has an endearing personality that shines through once she feels safe and secure in her surroundings. She is easily handled and responds positively to patient and caring individuals. With time, Lucy’s trust will blossom, and she will reward you with unwavering loyalty and affection and lots of happy kisses. 😚 😚 She walks well on a leash and loves going on long walks with you.

PRECIOUS, 60 lb, 14 month old Sam! Sam is a BIG CUDDLY boy, both with humans and furry friends. 😂He’s learned from the resident dog how to play, get the zoomies and just be a dog 🥹 he takes corrections from other dogs really well and is loving doggie daycare! 🦴 He has also learned how wonderful belly rubs are and is looking for a home with endless belly rubs 🥰
This DARLING boy came to us after he had been run over by a golf cart! 😞. He had a lot of bruising and scrapes but happily nothing was broken. He has healed nicely and is finally able to live without the cone - lol! ☺️

✨ADOPTER NEEDED FOR NALA!✨ Meet GORGEOUS Nala - this 1.5 yr old, 50lb girl is SUPER SMART, LOVES to play fetch, and is FRIENDLY and OUTGOING! 🙌🏼 Nala has a ton of ENERGY and is an excellent athlete! 🥰 She would be a GREAT candidate for agility. Nala has adjusted very well in her foster home. 🤍 She LOVES to play with the 2 resident dogs and daycare has been a great way to get her energy out! 😅 SWEET Nala will need a family who will give her the exercise and training she needs. Nala’s foster mom has taught her several basic commands and she walks well on a leash but will need continued work on jumping and impulse control. 🫶🏼 Nala is VERY treat and praise motivated and she loves to learn! She is house and crate trained, she sleeps through the night in her crate without a peep! 👍🏻 During the day, she much prefers to be with her family or at daycare if her people work long hours out of the home, she does fine for a few hours at a time in her crate though. ☺️ Nala’s perfect home is one with at least one other very playful dog that she can be friends with, playing is her favorite thing! ❣️ Due to her energy and tendency to jump up, she is appropriate for families with children over 15. A fenced yard and another playful dog are also a must for this sweet girl. 💕 She has not been tested with cats but has loved every dog she has met so far! 🥰
*NOTE: Nala was on hold for a period while she was being assessed as a working dog doing search and rescue. While she did well with much of the training, we ultimately opted her out of that and have decided her happiest life will be with a family!

But DO NOT COUNT THIS FELLA OUT! He has great energy and LOVES chasing squirrels and playing with other dogs in the backyard! 😂 He also enjoys a long walk. 🦮 He is great on the leash until he spots a squirrel and then he will try to chase. 😂 Otherwise his leash manners are very good. 👍🏻

Duke was dumped in a very rural area with several other dogs and a really nice family took them in. When they asked us if we could help this HANDSOME boy find his perfect home, of course we said yes!
Duke is very SWEET and gentle for a 95lb boy. He is very good with other dogs, rode nicely in the car and is pretty good on the leash!
He has always been an outside dog so he will need to learn his house manners but this FANTASTIC boy is worth a little training!
A fenced yard is preferable for this boy.
He is currently in boarding and we REALLY want to find him a foster or forever home so he can begin his wonderful new life! 🐾

✨URGENT - FOSTER OR ADOPTER NEEDED!!✨Meet SWEET, SWEET Loulou! 🤍 Loulou is the 2 year old mom of the litter of puppies we currently have and she is just the GREATEST little girl! 🎀 On the smaller side, Loulou is about 60lbs of PURE LOVE. 🤍 She makes a point to sit close and snuggle as close to a person as she can get all while giving you the sweetest look! 🥰 She comes up with her tail wagging at top speed and it doesn't matter if it is a human or another dog, she is equally happy to see both! 🙌🏽 She has done really well with all dogs we have introduced her to and readily gives a play bow to invite the other dogs to run and play. 🦴 Loulou has not been in a home but she does keep her suite clean in boarding which means she will be easily house trained. 🦮 She is SMART and treat motivated so training this BEAUTIFUL girl will also be easy. 👍🏻 She is a young Lab so exercising her energy out will be key to keeping her happy. ☺️ she would likely make an excellent running partner. 🏃🏻♀️ A fenced yard is a must and she will be appropriate for children 7 and over.🏡 Loulou is located in Charlotte, NC🍀To FOSTER Loulou, please email [email protected]🍀To ADOPT her, please email your 4 page application to [email protected] and [email protected]
✨UPDATE FOR Maple!✨Maple URGENTLY needs a FOSTER or ADOPTER!! 🥰 Maple is the SWEETEST little one year old girl! 🎀 Despite being abandoned, she LOVES people and her favorite place in the house is cuddled up beside you. 💕 She is very affectionate and a total LOVE BUG. 🐞 She is also GREAT with other dogs at the dog park or off leash. 🐾 Maple has been a super house guest and is fully house trained and crate trained. 🙏🏻 She seldom barks, is food motivated and is a super quick learner. 🦴 Our BEAUTIFUL little Maple has been doing GREAT in her current foster home but she does have one issue… She gets overly excited when seeing people or other dogs while she is on the leash and pulls and barks. 😅 This is all done from excitement- there is no aggression. 👍🏻 For this reason, she needs a home with a fenced yard and a family willing to work on her leash manners. 🐕🦺 She does still jump on people so a home with kids 12 and older is recommended. 👏🏼Maple is fully vetted and weighs about 55lbs. 🫶🏼 PLEASE OPEN YOUR HEART AND HOME TO MAPLE. 🤍 You will not be disappointed! 🦮Meet our new girl, Georgia! 🐶Georgia, a 2 year old girl, is very sweet!. She came to us from Kentucky. She was nervous upon arrival but once she had the chance to get some energy out a day later, she has settled. She was very sweet while meeting an adult male and female today. She is starving for attention. She met a calm small child on leash and was eager to greet them. ❤️Georgia is a very active, friendly, outgoing girl. She will chase birds and is not good with cats. She’s known to have a high prey drive (so watch out squirrels!), loves to chase a ball and will bring it back. Georgia doesn't like a crate but once she had time to burn some energy off, settled well when left alone in a room. Her very favorite thing is going for a ride in the car. She hops right in, rides well and politely waits until she’s invited to get out. Georgia knows sit, down, and come and is house trained. FOSTER/ADOPTER NEEDED! UPDATE: Hayes is in a temp foster so we are learning more about him... This is HANDSOME, SWEET Hayes, a one year old, 85lb boy with the BEST personality! Everyone that meets him describes him as "the most loving dog ever!" He is SO HAPPY and ready to be loved. Hayes is neutered, house trained and walks well on the leash. He is a big couch potato and loves a good snuggle in bed. He is very friendly with all humans and even cats. He is good with other dogs (totally nonreactive) while walking on the leash and ADORES his canine playmate in his temp foster home. They run, play and share toys and bones all day long! He is going to be such a GREAT BEST FRIEND to his new family. He knows a few commands, is eager to please and learns quickly. He is a master at getting out of a crate and counter surfing. He shares his prizes with his foster brother (so that nice) but his new family will need to have a plan for securing him when they leave. Hayes does jump up on you so no children under 13 please. He is in a wonderful temporary foster home but we need to find his forever home quickly!
