🚨 **Urgent Rescue Mission Underway!** 🚨

Our dedicated rescue team is currently on an important mission, having left last night to save more lives. They are expected back at our shelter tonight around 5 PM MDT. Details of this mission are still unfolding.

🚨We have a critical update to share on the dog shot this evening: A few hours ago, Animal Control responded to a call for help from a homeless man who said he left the encampment briefly, and when he returned, his dog was shot in the chest. Lying next to her unharmed was her three-week-old puppy. The man was screaming in agony and handed over the mother and baby to ACO in hopes of finding help.

We immediately agreed to take her and her baby into our care and rushed her to Blue Pearl Specialty Center.

Sophie is in critical condition; she is in shock and has lost a lot of blood. Chest tubes have been placed to drain the blood and allow her lungs to expand; she has received a blood transfusion, fluids, antibiotics, pain management, high-flow oxygen, and a contrast study which shows the bullet went through either the bottom of her esophagus or the top of her stomach.

If the bullet damaged the stomach, it may be able to be repaired. If the bullet went through the esophagus, it cannot be repaired. They can’t see without opening her up.

Sophie is weak and needs more
Supportive care before she goes under. Surgery is happening tonight. The surgeons are waiting for the optimum time to give her the best possible Chance.

We need your help tonight. Sophie’s care is a huge undertaking. The hospital has done their part to help by discounting the bill but we are now hovering around 20,000.

Please note: We follow the advice of medical professionals, and they believe she has a chance. That’s all we need to hear; we won’t give up on her.

We have 7 dogs in need of our attention today, plus the remaining dogs from the previous days! We have added Kona (formerly known as Rogue) because she is kenneled with Bear, who was previously named Sebastian Shaw. Dogs left behind, like Bear in this case if Kona gets adopted, are usually killed first. And if the adopters don't choose Kona, she will be also be pending euthanasia. (We are unable to update captions at the moment, so we can't update their names and if links are out of order, please stick with us.)

We don't think many of the list yesterday got attention. Please consider where your focus lies. These dogs are still lives deserving of affection and time... and your effort. Especially since the shelter has reportedly said they are too busy to care.
