Amy Shepherd, founder of Heartland Rescue Ranch in Panama City, FĹ reached out to ACF regarding Buddy. Buddy's story embodies the mission of this rescue, and because of our supporters, we are honored to help. The following is what Amy shared with us about Buddy.

"We took in a young male lab who is extremely adoptable. However, he has luxated patellas in both back legs. Buddy was picked up a few days before New Year’s Eve…all 77 pounds of sweet and gentle golden Labrador. The next day, a 77-year-old lady came to me and said she wanted to foster a dog to have someone to spend New Year’s Eve with. All I had was Buddy…she had never even owned a big dog before, but she wanted to give him a chance. It has really been beautiful. Buddy has given her will to live. However, she feels he could possibly outlive her, so she has asked I continue looking for his forever home with someone who would give her visitation rights 💛💛. He’s a super special, fella!
Our mission statement is, ‘People helping animals and animals helping people.’ Buddy’s story is a beautiful example.
When he came in, we had him x-rayed immediately and discovered he had a luxated patella in both back legs. We appreciate you so graciously helping us help Buddy"!

Please follow this rescue's page if you would like to support Buddy in his upcoming surgeries. His 1st surgery is scheduled for February 18, 2025.

From the beginning of 2017, the mission of Angel’s Care Fund was to meet the needs of
homeless dogs so that they would be at their best to be adoptable. Initially, that meant assisting with extraordinary medical expenses that a rescue or shelter could not afford on their own. As time passed, ACF became aware of other needs that prevent a dog
from presenting as her best self. Dogs need mental stimulation just as much or more than people. Imagine being restricted to a small area 24/7 and maybe getting a quick walk once day. While visiting shelters, we asked what their needs were. Almost all named enrichment; something to stimulate the brain during those long hours of confinement. So we expanded our donations to toys, games, peanut butter, and other “treats”.
Working and living through the COVID economy and beyond, it became apparent that it was also necessary to help people keep their pets despite their circumstances. After some discussion we determined that our mission included keeping pets out of shelters and rescues; an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. With a little help from our friends, donors, and local pet stores ACF is able to help provide agencies with supplies so that fosters and owners in need can keep pets safe and secure. While we do not provide assistance directly to owners, there are many food pantries and organizations who do. Most of those agencies will take open bags of food, leashes, collars and miscellaneous pet supplies. They will pass through community food pantries and aid agencies for the unhoused. ACF visited one of those agencies
recently. We met Belinda Goodwin in Homeless Street Outreach at the Community Service League of Independence. They help meet the needs of their clients who are
unhoused or in need of supplies for their pets. If you would like to donate any of the much needed supplies, please message us or comment on this page so that we
can direct you to an agency near you. Thank you for your continuing support.

ACF has a donation bin at Pet Supplies Plus - Lees Summit, MO for our supporters convenience.

Stay With Me Animal Rescue, located in Phoenix, AZ, reached out to Angel's Care Fund for assistance with Ciabatta, a French Bulldog puppy in need of colopexy surgery to correct a pr*****ed re**um. Because of our supporters ACF, along with others, were able to help this small rescue help their little Ciabatta. So much to be thankful for. Please follow Stay With Me Animal Rescue page to follow Ciabatta's story of healing.

After being with her new family for nearly a month, Ciabatta was returned to us with a pr*****ed re**um that her people were unwilling to love her through, despite noting on their original adoption application “We understand French bulldogs require a lot of care and we are prepared for whatever is needed.”
Luckily, at Stay With Me, we stay with our dogs through thick and thin!
Over these last few weeks, Ciabatta received not one, not two… but FOUR PURSE STRING SUTURES and finally a COLOPEXY to correct her pr*****ed re**um. Ciabatta also rightfully earned the nickname “Cia-Booty” during that time. Since undergoing the colopexy on Thursday, February 6th, our precious baby girl has been on the mend and doing exceptionally well throughout this whole process! It’s early on, but at this rate Ciabatta and her Cia-Booty will be back to 100% in no time!
We are overwhelmed with gratitude for…

Four Legged Friends Animal Hospital and Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists North Scottsdale who treated Ciabatta with four purse string sutures beginning from January 8th to February 2nd,

Palm Glen Animal Hospital for performing the colopexy on such short notice without hesitation,

Two Pups Wellness Fund and Angel’s Care Fund who provided us with grants to help cover Ciabatta’s medical expenses,

And Four Paws and Friends who connected us to Dr. Mangone at Palm Glen, so Ciabatta could get the care she needed.

Together, we saved Ciabatta’s life and gave her another opportunity at a happy, healthy future! Rescue is never easy, but it’s way less difficult when we can all come together to save a dog ❤️

Man, it's been a long cold January here in Missouri. We recently received some good news about little Rusty that warmed us up a bit. He had his consultation eye appointment on the 16th, and Rusty is a candidate for cataract surgery. Next step is his pre-op appointment on the 29th and at that time the surgery date will be scheduled. We will keep you updated on this sweet little guy. Meanwhile he's doing great in his foster home and we ask you to join us in sending all positive vibes for Mr. Rusty for his upcoming surgery. 🥰

Bashful was spayed today, so she will never have to have babies again for humans to profit from. Surgeries for dogs are just like surgeries for humans, where it can be harder on some individuals than others.

Bashful struggled a bit with surgery today. Yet she is the only Shiba that didn’t find a foster home. 😭 Thankfully, Deema is taking her home to monitor her for the night making sure she stays warm and comfortable.

Please send prayers for Bashful to do well through the night, as well as finds her forever home soon. She has such a sweet, innocent face. Please share this post to help find her person, that we know is out there.

As a PSA we would like to take a moment to think about another aspect of the devastating LA County fires. Many families will be faced with unbearable decisions when forced to evacuate their homes. Many surrounding shelters will need donations of all kinds to help their local citizens.

Update: Due to the mandatory evacuation orders, the Westwood Recreation Center and Ritchie Valens Rec Center, is open for evacuees and accepts small animals. LA Animal Services is providing crates, bowls, pet food, and blankets.

The Los Angeles Equestrian Center in Burbank and Hansen Dam in Lake View Terrace is open for evacuation of large animals.

Get the latest updates on evacuation orders related to the fires by going to LAFD.org/alerts.

The best way to handle any emergency or disaster is by being prepared. Plan ahead and ensure your pets are part of your family emergency plan. For more information and to get your emergency plan checklist, go to laanimalservices.com/emergency-preparendness.
