CHEW Dog Rescue is a charitable 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization operating in the Gig Harbor, Washington area. We rescue dogs that are abandoned and, in particular, dogs that are in danger of being euthanized due to shelter overcrowding. CHEW was organized in 2006 to advocate for the establishment of a 30–40 acre fenced off-leash dog park in the Gig Harbor area. We also promote responsible dog o

wnership by facilitating and promoting speaker presentations that include canine health and behavioral topics. We are now a group dedicated to rescuing abandoned dogs, and other dogs in need of help.

The fires in California have been devastating for all, including animals. CHEW would like to help by taking in some of the dogs who were already in shelters into our care while making room for other dogs who have been displaced through the fires. But we need your help, specifically fostering! We will be having a fostering event this Saturday at Wilco in Gig Harbor from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. If you've ever thought about fostering a needing dog, please come and find out more. And then there were two who are still looking for their forever homes. I included a pictue of Mom which these pups don't look like. Mom we believe is a Doxie/Min Pin mix. MOCHA is the only brown and white pup from this litter. He is all male with a gentle loving side that likes to cuddle. Then there is sister Echo. She is the middle pup, lovable, playful, world class cuddlier and as sweet as can be. Please welcome these dogs into CHEW as we do our part to make room for the dogs displaced by the CA Wildfires. They were in the shelter BEFORE the fires started. These dog’s ages range from 4 months to 1 1/2 years. Follow us here as we clean them up, get them a health certificate and all the others things they need before they are ready to make their adoption debuts. We have SADIE , female, all black; APOLLO, male, black & white; JOSIE, female, terrier coat and what we call the 3 fluffs, Kizzi, Maisie, and Fiyero. Once the fluffs get groomed we will post more photos as to who is who. Welcome to a 2nd chance at a better life sweet little ones. Ages on their individual photos.

We are trying to bring some dogs up from CA this weekend to help them find their forever families. These dirty little fluff balls are Maltese mixes. We have 2 that have found foster homes, but we need 1 more foster home. These little dogs will be adorable once they are groomed and all cleaned up. Can you help? They are scheduled to arrive Sunday night. We will provide all the supplies you need, pay for Vet appointments and guide you throughout the process.

Here are updated photos of Emilie's mixtures. Pups are 7 weeks old and growing tho they will be small adults. Their days are full of puppy play piles, playing with their stuffies and hard rubber toys. Pups baby teeth are still coming in.
Mocha, a male, is the only brown & white pup. Marble, a male, has a balanced pattern face. Panda has colored front legs similar to cattle dog markings. Group photo of Panda, Mocha, and Echo. Sweet little Lucie Lu is looking for her forever home. She's a Doxie/Terrier mix and six months old. Very playful, we'd love to see her go to a home with other small dogs to play with. She's up to date on vaccines, house broken, and recently spayed. We expect her to weigh only about 10 pounds when fully grown. She will delight and love everyone in her forever home. With a bit of a delay, please welcome Emilie and her Mixtures. These pups are 6 weeks old and we are now ACCEPTING applications on them. Mom appears to be a Min Pin-Doxie mix. She currently weighs 14 lbs and is about 2 yrs old. Dad as always is unknown. These will be small dogs when grown. There are 3 boys and 4 girls. MOCHA is the only brown & white coated male with tiny RAVEN as the only black coated female. SMUDGE another male is mostly white with a smudge of color on one ear and at the base of his tail. PANDA a girl, has speckled front legs. NOVA another very tiny girl already has ears at attention like her mom. MARBLE another male is mostly black with white. ECHO with a black & white coat looks like a bigger Nova. As we reveiw applications, we are looking for families that are home and who can continue the pups socialization and training. Since these will be small dogs, a household with children 10 yrs and older is best. Puppies go fast so get your applications in. Individual photos to come.

These 2 little orphan girls were dumped then rescued by CHEW. Since they were added to the group of dogs we were pulling from a very over crowded shelter, we considered them as a bonus. We had no info on them, both females, both very young and from different litters. 3 weeks in foster care, they continued with socialization, learned to play with stuffie and hard rubber toys while trying to engage the resident cat who out weighed them.
After their vet check which was great, getting chipped and vaccinated they both found their forever homes. Mindy now aka PEACH , the cream Chiwa mix, has 2 stay at home parents to dote on her and shower her with lots of love. Mandy aka GIZZIE, the terrier mix, also has 2 parents, a new BFF in Tera a CHEW Alum, and many puppy adventures ahead. Go live your best lives our little ones in the loving embrace of a family that will love you and treasure you forever, no longer considered disposable trash.

We have exciting news! CHEW is offering new 2025 Calendars this year featuring many of our recently adopted dogs. We'll have them available for purchase at our November and December Meet & Greet events. The first one is tomorrow, Saturday November 9th at Mud Bay from 12:00pm - 2:00pm. Come meet Rocky and Tanner and pick up a calendar! They are also available on our website if you would like them mailed, additional pricing to include shipping costs. Rico has been with CHEW for over a year and is still looking for his forever home. This happy-go-lucky, full of life little guy had a rough start when he came into our Rescue. It was determined he needed both of his knees replaced for him to be pain free. His recovery went very well. As a result of a successful surgery, he is now able to play fetch, his favorite activity. Rico takes direction well and wants to please his humans. Rico will do best either being the only dog or with one other dog 30 pounds or more. He is also respectful of cats but is one of those rare dogs that does not do well on leash walks. He is good on car rides and comes with great house manners as well as being a first-class cuddler. His ideal home would have a house set back from the road with a large fenced yard where he can play and be his true self.
