Learning to pick up a pill vial ☺️
-
This can be a very important task for someone with a disability and also sets the foundation for picking up other “strange” objects that aren’t toys. I start by clicking any time he interacts with it. Then when he understands this I wait until he bites it or tries to pick it up. Next we will shape this into him picking it up and bringing it to me. This was his first session and he already exceeded my expectations. ☺️
Working on staying down and ignoring people ✋🏻
Ella and I had to behave and not play during our training session 😎
Update on Dapper!! He has 2 parts in the show and started performing in front of the crowds this week. 🎥 I have been in touch with his trainer and everyone loves him! I am so proud of him 😍
Last night I started learning how to close drawers! It was pretty easy since I already know touch 😎
I’ve been working on learning tricks 😌 I know sit and shake so far. This is me learning touch 😂
I have officially changed the name of this account from @/sdit_dapper to @/annietrainsdogs ❗️I will post training videos to help anyone who watches! 🙂 A lot of the videos will be of my personal dog, @zoomie_lumi as she is very young and is learning a lot 🦴
In this video I worked with Lumi getting on a table. She has never been introduced to one and I want her to be comfortable on it for vet appointments, grooming, etc. We started slow (as you should when training anything new) I simply tossed a treat onto the table and let her choose to jump up. I also kept it low enough she can jump on and off freely. I DIDN’T raise the table or force her to stay on. I just want her to be comfortable getting on and off.
She started to relax a little in the middle and she offered sit and shake!! This is HUGE! This was more progress than expected and I rewarded her accordingly.
(I should have been more focused on her, but I was talking to some coworkers who had questions. Ideally it would just be me and Lumi in a room)
If you have a dog that is nervous on tables or nervous in general at the vet, you should come in for “happy visits”. Bring them in, practice getting on the scale or whatever else they are scared of and give LOTS of treats the whole time! I would keep it short (10-15 minutes). This will help your dog associate a place they hate with something they love.
If you have any questions, dm me or comment below! Thank you! 🐶
Look at my perfect down stay! This was taken after mom left and got food. I really want to follow her everywhere but she asked me to stay under the table, so of course I did 😌
