3 days of mushy madness at this year's Secret Fungi Festival at 🍄🙌

A massive thanks to the walkers, the talkers and all the contributors that made it so special! You smashed it and we're already looking forward to coming back bigger and better for 2026.💃

Thank you to everybody that attended, we hope you had as much fun as we did. The food from and was exceptionally good! The workshops were great and the fungi didn't disappoint..they were everywhere!

We're still totting up the finds but we've recorded over 140 species so far 🥳

Shout out to and for some killer records and manning the finds table, alot said that was a highlight seeing such a diverse collection of mushrooms. Props to for bringing the fungi fun for the little ones too 🙏

The reclaimed barn had some great talks from .mushrooms to name a few

The creativity was flowing from the likes of .and.moon and many more!

Lots of chat about Yellow Oysters this week, mostly thanks to who well and truly lit the blue touch paper, by removing Yellow Oysters from their inventory.

This has caused a chain reaction through the cultivation scene which has been beautiful to witness 🥰

Now with many growers and suppliers in the UK and even the US binning their smelly Yellow Oyster strains, I thought I'd take the opportunity to make folk aware of some native alternatives that will still bring abit of colour and variation to your punnets, without the ecological backlash potentially associated with the Yellow Oyster.

At we made a decision from the beginning to not supply growers with Yellow Oysters, instead we encourage things like native Velvet Shanks, native Pioppino and some of the many other Oyster varieties found in the UK. One of our favourites is the Tarragon Oyster 🤗

We're pleased to have already supplied native cultures to the likes of .mushrooms .mushrooms and many more. We appreciate you 🍄🫶

Fomitopsis betulina - Birch Polypore 😍

Cloned from a wild fruiting body, found right next to the farm 🌳🌳

We're working on a few Ganoderma for various friends, a suspected G.carnosum for Lisa at G.applanatum for , Ganoderma sp from the team at and finally a stunning G.lucidum kindly sent across thanks to Elliot, at .farm.it 🍄🙌

The colonised dowels have been mega popular this past month, everyone's getting in the mood for abit of plugging 😏..so much so, we're now just awaiting another 10,000 dowels to arrive at the farm and we'll be straight back to making more!

So pleased to see the Magpie Inkcap art worked and the macro shot of the gills is great, you've got some competition ! 😆

The spore print is perfect...and if you get the first image made into a poster, we'll buy a print! 😍

Of 10 trial bags, 4 appear to be fruiting nicely through the filter patch. Of the rest, 1 has aborted after a few weeks of pinning and the others are still climbing the walls of the bag towards the filter patch.

Had the most amazing morning at an alternative education centre teaching a great group of kids about the magical world of mushrooms!..I'm pretty sure the big kids loved it too, myself included!

We found some great mushrooms, I didn't have to move very far at all, all the kids were off on a treasure hunt for fungi and did amazingly 🕵🍄

I was very pleased to see Magpie Inkcaps again! A few caps have been kept to make some mushroom ink for the kids to paint with 🎨

We found lots of pretty pink Mycena that smelt of potatoes, some striking blue Stropharia and more Blushers than you could shake a stick at!

A first for me too! Porphyrellus porphyrosporus, The Dusky Bolete! A very rare member of the Bolete family in the UK and only the 2nd record I know of, in Dorset. 🤓

Once back at the hub, they luckily had a light box in their art room! Perfect for setting up a Sulphur Tuft photo shoot with the UV torch! 🍄🔦

Thanks for reaching out it was an absolute pleasure, looking forward to another Fungi hunt in the future. 🍄🫶
