Jerry was rescued from Bulgaria and has made himself very comfortable here at Last Hope HQ. We are very attached to him but he deserves a home of his own 🏡

He is such an easy dog 🐕 He will make someone a wonderful companion and family dog.

His Brucella test was negative so he has the all clear to be rehomed now and will be able to be registered with a UK vet.

As you can see, Jerry will sleep anywhere and is good in a car (literally) 🤣

14/2 8:30pm - Poppy has come round from surgery. She had an extremely rare case of secondary Pyro. The vets have said if they hadn't of operated today, by tomorrow she would have been sceptic. Poppy is on a double antibiotic, IV fluids, pain relief and anti-sicknes to help her through the night. All being well we hope to be able to collect her tomorrow.

Update 14th Feb - sadly Poppy has relapsed 💔

Following her first visit to the vet, Poppy was returned home to the rescue but unfortunately after a couple of hours the rescue noticed something wasn't right with her. She was rushed straight back last night and she has free fluid and blood in her abdomen. The vet is reluctant to operate so samples have been taken and sent to the lab. We are currently awaiting the results. Poppy stayed at the vet overnight on IV antibiotics, fluids & pain relief and she is still there. Yesterday the rescue paid £1900 to clear her bill (thank you to those who donated, we raised £140 towards the £1900). The bill for this new problem is estimated to be between £2,000 and £2,500. We literally do not have this money to keep paying for the treatment Poppy needs. However we won't give up on her and will keep trying.

On 7th Feb we saw a post with a sad and seriously unwell Dogue de Bordeaux female. She had been found as a stray with a serious and often fatal womb infection, pyometra. The pound would not pay for the emergency surgery and she was sent to kennels with just an anti sickness medicine, paracetamol and antibiotics and remained like that for a few days. We could not accept that this seriously ill girl was simply left unwell, in pain and knew she may not survive. We took her in and she saw our vet the next day. She is lucky to be alive. She was terrified.
A generous anonymous person paid for her emergency spay and our vet was amazed this girl had survived. We gave her constant care but she has struggled to eat . Whilst she had improved a little and we'd had tail wags, she took a turn for the worse late last night and we had to go to the emergency vet.
Poppy, as we have called her, is the bravest dog. So ill, so much infection and still not out of the woods. Our vet is keeping her in for now whilst they try to find out the reason her stomach and intestines are not working.
The vet bill for emergency last night, admittance and further tests today is about £2,500 Please help us to help Poppy, she deserves to have every chance to live. She will need more treatment and is likely to remain with our vet for a few days.

✨️ Good News Story ✨️

Well today, weather wise has been pretty shocking hasn't it!

We all need a pick me up, and what better way than with, not one, but two pieces of good news 😃

We are pleased to say that Ruby appears to be making a fantastic recovery following the awful situation she had to face recently, after what should have been a standard spay procedure. She is back to her old self and playing with her toys and eating and drinking again. Yippee. It is such a relief for all who love Ruby ❤️ A huge thank you to everybody who sent donations for Ruby. We are sure she felt all your love and this made her stronger. Her family would like us to tell you, they are so grateful for all your kindness ✨️

Secondly, we are absolutely delighted to announce the official Adoption of Ruby 😍 This is the best news for Ruby and her family. They have all been through so much in the last 12 months and that makes her adoption day so much more special 💖

What a truly amazing and special family Ruby has found herself. We don't think anybody could love her more than her forever mum & dad. We are so happy for Ruby and her mum & dad ☺️

Be forever happy you beautiful girl. We can't wait to see and hear all about your future adventures. You are one very special pup 🐶

Brady is one of our newest dogs 🐕 We didn't even have time to post his welcome post before he was taken ill. He has been at the vets since Wednesday and is still there. He is on a drip for fluids and pain relief. He has severe diarrhea so a feacal sample and blood tests have been taken.

The bill is expected to exceed £1500 by the end of today 😫

Brady is a Malinois and is only 17 weeks old 🥺

We will be fundraising for him over on our fundraising page. If anybody can spare a small donation towards Brady's vet bill, this will be very much appreciated.

Welcome back Robin ❤️

Robin is a Last Hope pooch who was adopted from us 10 years ago. Very sadly, Robin's owner has passed away 🥺 and she is back with us in Somerset.

She only arrived today and understandably she is very nervous and anxious. She will be allowed time to adjust before we try to test her with the other Last Hope dogs and any children.

Robin is 12 years old. As everybody knows, nobody wants an old dog 😳 so we are asking the impossible but we have faith in our lovely followers 🙏

If you know anybody who would love a sweet companion, who could offer Robin a loving home for whatever time she has left, please ask them to contact us.

Robin is a Dutch Herder cross staffy. Her size is slightly bigger than a standard staffy.

Due to her age, we will waive her adoption fee for the right home 🏡 following a successful homecheck and ID checks.

What a week! 💔

This week we didn't lose 1 dog, but 2!

Max 💙
Max came into Last Hope Rescue at the young age of 3 weeks old in 2013. He quickly became a part of Nicola's family so he was not put up for adoption but took up the position of family member and stooge dog. The canine version of the back bone of our rescue. Through this role, Max has helped a ridiculous amount of dogs who have come through the rescue's doors and prepared them for their forever homes 🏡 He also helped raise many litters of pups who had found themselves surrendered to rescue. Max was one of Nicola's best friends throughout so many sad times over the years 😢 He was always there for her to give her a hug and stick his wet nose on her skin in an attempt of a kiss 💋 when she needed it the most. His loss is devastating for Nicola 💔

Marvin 💙

Marvin came into us in September 2024, weighing just 9kgs at 7 months old 🥺 It became quickly apparent that Marvin's bones were not right. Thousands of pounds later, it was confirmed he had extreme hip & elbow dysplasia amongst other bone issues. Marvin stayed with Nicola and the other lifer dogs 🐕 and fitted right in. Fast forward to January and following more extensive tests, CT scans and MRIs sadly we were told that Marvin was broken everywhere and would not have any quality of life whatsoever 💔 Nicola and our amazing vet did everything to try to find a way to save Marvin but a life of pain is not a life that any dog should be subjected to. He was such an amazing dog considering everything he went through in his very short life. He loved people, dogs and children and despite being in pain he filled his days with playtime and zoomies. He may have only had 5 months of happiness but he made those 5 months count 💖

Rosie is adopted and loving life with her family.
She has settled in so well and took no time at all to get her paws well and truly under the table in her new home 🏡 She certainly has everyone wrapped around her paws 😄

Her favourite past time is hanging out at the local social club where she is, of course, the centre of attention 🤗

It's a far cry from her previous life when she came into us covered in urine burns from being shut in a crate.

We love seeing photos of our adopted dogs living their best life.

Update 3pm 26/1 - Ruby is home and had a settled day yesterday. We are all praying 🙏 she is going to get through this awful ordeal. One day at a time ❤️ We will keep you all updated.

Warning - upsetting images 😢

Ruby (was Harriet) is in foster with a view to adopt. What should have been a standard spay procedure has ended up being a heart wrenching nightmare for her humans 💔 and this week has been heartbreaking for them.

There was severe complications and a missed phantom pregnancy to start, even though Ruby's humans raised it with the vet before the spay operation as they were concerned. Their concerns were not taken on board. The vets have made mistakes here.

Then last night Ruby's surgery site split open and her insides spilled out 😭

Her humans have been hit with significant emergency vets bills this week after having to attend twice and 2 additional emergency surgeries being needed. Their insurance has already been used this year on TPLO surgery for cruciate rupture and the annual limit reached.

Ruby and her family have been through so much with operation after operation. We would really love to help them out by giving them something towards the vet bills from this week which are already over £1000. Sadly we don't have the funds in the pot to help.

If anybody can help with a £1 or £2 we would be so grateful and blessed. Ruby's family haven't asked for help but we know they are struggling. We would love to show them that they are cared for and are not alone 🙏

Items such as new & unused gift sets, animal related products, beauty products, gift vouchers etc seem to be popular on our fundraisers so we are always on the hunt for new items to auction/raffle or sell to raise funds to go towards the dogs in rescue. 100% of the money raised helps pay for food, vets, worming, Flea treatment, transport costs etc. The more funds we have, the more dogs we can save 🥹

Our rescue is run by volunteers. We have no paid staff. Our volunteers run the rescue in their spare time and for nothing in return, except the love of dogs 🐕

Luna update

Luna is recovering well. She didn't like the body suit so she managed to wiggle her way out of that 🤣 but luckily she isn't taking any notice of her stitches.

We are trying to help a young bull breed pup 🐶 but without a spare foster home we aren't able to help.

Do we have any child free foster homes available? Apparently the pup is currently living with other dogs and cats but obviously we can't confirm if this is true so will need assessment.
