A lot of you lovely people have done First Aid and Body Language and have even asked for a third course 😍. Well here it is!

This is the course your dog wants you to attend!

Did you know that dog’s do not communicate verbally?
They have a very sophisticated non-verbal method of communication called Canine Body Language. We often miss these subtle methods of communications and this can cause behaviour to escalate even to dog’s biting. Learning how to read and interpret subtle body language and facial expression will allow us to understand what a dog is really trying to tell us.
Being able to read a dog will allow you to understand and even predict canine behaviour. This fascinating subject will open up a whole new way of communicating with your dog that you may not even have realised was possible. You will truly begin to speak dog!
Does a dog lying on its back really want a belly rub?
Is a wagging tail a sign of a happy dog?
Can dogs feel guilt?
This course will begin to answer some of the most misunderstood canine behaviours and as a result will change the way you interact with dogs forever. The wonderful Jo from Take Me Out Pet Fur-st Aid will take you through this 4hr course held on Monday March 18th in Mevagissey. Course fee is £35 or £50 accredited. Please message for booking information.

I got to practice what I teach today when poor Toby got a stick stuck in the roof of his mouth 😱.
I always take sticks away, but I couldn't because he was playing tug of war with another dog when it snapped and got stuck.
It seems easy when I demonstrate on a life like stuffed dog, but it's very different in real life.
He was so distressed, frantically pawing at his face and throw in his concerned friends who are trying to help whilst I'm carrying him back to my van.
I reassured him, kept calm and wrapped him in a towel so that I could have a look in his mouth. It was stuck firmly between his teeth, but thankfully not obstructing his airway so I managed to pull it out carefully with my finger.
It's so important to have the knowledge and confidence to deal with situations like this should they arise.
I'd rather deal with the usual 🦊 💩 incidents in future though 😆.

This is useful to know given the current cold weather.

Be aware of gritted paths in icy weather because it's an irritant to paws and is very toxic if they lick them and ingest it.
