Ticks are sneaky little hitchhikers, latching onto your dog in all the warm, hidden spots. They might be tiny, but they can carry some nasty diseases, so staying one step ahead is key.

🕵️‍♀️ Where do ticks love to hide?
Under the tail (out of sight, out of mind… for them!)
Groin area (a cosy little hiding spot)
Under the belly (sneaky, aren’t they?)
Between the toes (because why not?)
Elbows (yes, even here!)
Under the collar (easy to miss)
Inside the mouth (really, ticks?!)
Eyes + ears (the perfect hideout)

🐕 How to keep your dog tick-free:
Give them a once-over after every walk, especially in grassy areas
Use a tick hook to remove any uninvited guests
Chat to your vet about prevention
Keep your garden in check, short grass, fewer ticks!

Support your dog with our Ticked Off range
Want extra tick protection? Our Ticked Off – Tick + Flea Repellent can be added to your best friend’s food daily. Start using at least 2 weeks before tick/flea season and continue throughout.
Dosage: 2ml per 10kg of dog’s weight for 2 weeks before the season, then 1ml per 10kg during.

For extra defence, try our Ticked Off Direct – Tick + Flea Repellent, a topical solution to help keep ticks and fleas at bay.
Shake the bottle until cloudy, then use the pipette to apply directly to the skin from the scruff to the base of the tail.
Dosage: 1ml per 5kg of your dog’s weight every four weeks (or every two weeks for active dogs who swim or are often in wooded areas).

The quicker you spot them, the less trouble they cause.

How much raw food should you feed your dog? 🤔🐶

Feeding the right amount of raw food is essential to keeping your best friend happy, healthy, and full of energy! But how much should you be giving them each day?

A good rule of thumb is to feed your adult dog between 2-3% of their body weight daily - but this can vary depending on their size, activity level, and individual needs. Smaller breeds may need slightly more due to their faster metabolism, while larger breeds often require a little less per kilogram.

🐾 What influences how much to feed?
Every dog is different, and factors like their breed, age, activity level, and medical conditions can impact their ideal portion size. If your pup needs to gain or lose weight, small adjustments can make a big difference.

📉 For overweight dogs: Reduce their daily portion by 10%, monitor their weight, and adjust gradually.
📈 For underweight dogs: Increase their daily portion by 10%, track their weight, and adjust as needed.
👵 For senior dogs: Their needs change with age, so keeping an eye on their weight and energy levels is key.

🐕 How many meals per day?
Most adult dogs thrive on two meals a day, while some do well with just one. Puppies and dogs with specific health conditions may need more frequent meals.

⏰ Best feeding times?
A common routine is breakfast between 6-7 AM and dinner 12 hours later, but the right schedule depends on your dog and your lifestyle!

Who let the dogs out… on a walk? We did! 🚶‍♂️🐶

We hit the great outdoors last week for National Walk Your Dog Day, led by the brilliant Josh Smith! Best friends (on two legs and four) joined us for a tail-wagging stroll, goodie bags in tow, while chatting all things pet wellbeing and pet nutrition.💚

But let’s be real, the toughest part wasn’t the walk… it was getting the dogs to pose for a group pic! 📸😂

Did you know that chewing on raw meaty bones is one of the most natural and effective ways to keep your best friend’s teeth clean? 🦷
Raw bones act as nature’s toothbrush, helping to remove plaque and tartar while giving their jaw a great workout!

But that’s not all - feeding the right bones comes with a whole pack of benefits:
🐾 Nutritional Boost - Packed with essential minerals like calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium for strong bones, healthy joints, and overall vitality.
🐾 Health Benefits - Supports gut health, aids digestion, and helps keep those a**l glands in check!

✔️ If the bone gets too small, swap it out to prevent choking.

Our Story

Why B&D? We lost our dogs to cancer. After researching potential cures online, we discovered that the processed food our dogs had eaten their whole lives may have actually caused their illness. We decided something had to be done to educate other dog owners and protect their pets before it was too late. So we rolled up our sleeves, dug into natural dog diets and started making the best raw dog food available anywhere in the country. We promise to stay at the cutting edge of nutrition and continue developing our food so it is as good as it possibly can be. We will never add something to our meals because it might be a good idea and guarantee that every single ingredient we add to our food provides a real benefit to your dog’s health.
