Up for adoption! As of this morning, we still have 9 rescue chickens looking for homes. These girls are ex-commercial layers that have reached the end of the commercial life on a free range farm. They have all been vet-checked, they were vaccinated and are up to date on their parasite treatments. They need homes with people that know chickens are worthy of and need vet treatment during their lives. They're lovely friendly girls and will make great pets. They have had us in hysterics with their antics at the clinic this week. Call the clinic if you want to adopt. Please note, single chickens are not up for re-homing individually. They need at least one friend to prevent bullying when introduced to their new flockmates. (Ph. 9808 9011)

Disclosure: For those who are wishing to obtain these birds for their eggs; these girls are at the end of their egg laying production and should be going to loving homes where they will receive proper on going medical treatment. Most will have long term health issues as a result of their selective breeding and exploitation of the egg industries. These birds have suffered enough and must only go to homes that can provide them with the upmost love and care they deserve.

⚠️Can anyone can give these poor girls a loving home? 🥺 please share and tag anyone you might think can help. There are currently 500 birds needing homes. This ad was posted this morning from a livestock breeder. Please try and negotiate free surrender. Link below will take you to the listing or call him directly to organise pickup 0412533934

URGENT: Do you have a home for 1 or more beautiful pekin drakes?

We are looking for homes for these 4 drakes, together or separated.
If you cannot give them a home then please consider sharing or tagging anyone who may be able to help ❤️

Whether you have a female flock, a male flock, a mix, or even if you're a beginner with no ducks please contact us and we will discuss options.

Drakes are so wonderful, and we wish more people would consider them as pets even though they don't produce eggs. Animals are worth so much more than what they can provide you. We guarantee you will have the time of your life just watching these boys splash and have fun, sift through the mud, gobble up bugs, and snooze in the shade. They are docile and sweet, though timid due to their past. Please give these boys a chance at a good life ❤️

💔💔💔

It’s hard to find the right words for this post.

This morning at 11.35, Oscar left us.

Almost a year ago, we shared that with his deteriorating health, the vet thought he only had a few days to live.

But ever the fighter – he pushed on, and made it to his sweet 16th only a few months ago.

This morning he let Deb know it was time, and he was able to go peacefully in her arms.

Oscar was a dog that started a movement. He changed and saved lives. It’s hard to comprehend the enormous impact that one little dog could have.

He was an icon and a hero – but most of all, he was Deb’s best friend.

We will have more to say about Oscar, his life and all he achieved soon – but for now, Deb needs time to process and grieve. We still can’t quite believe he’s gone.

Rest in peace, Oscar.

Our Story

The Mark's Ark Inc is a no kill animal rescue and adoption group in Melbourne, VIC. We take in abandoned, abused surrendered animals and care for them until they are able to be rehomed.

All animals we take in are vet checked, desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, wormed, flea treated and heartworm tested before leaving our care. All animals are homed with us or foster carers until they find their forever home.

We are a husband and wife; a two person team. We both work full time, and have 3 dogs, 6 cats, 2 rabbits and 2 cockatiels (all rescues) of our own to take care of, as well as the rescue animals that come into our home. We started our rescue group when we realised (albeit a bit late) that we couldn’t adopt them ALL, but we could help save more than we could keep.

The Mark’s Ark Inc is a registered charity and runs solely on donations.
