Dear RiverDog Family Members:

As we approach the very busy summer boarding season, I wanted to remind you all of RiverDog's vaccination policy. Please don't vaccinate your pups within 21 days PRIOR to their boarding visit.

As you know, I HIGHLY recommend having your pup's blood titered to check for immunity prior to administration of vaccinations. Though Shasta County does not yet accept titered results for Rabies, the City of Anderson DOES.

I am including a link to Animal Wellness Magazine for your information, and here is an excerpt on titering:

"Additionally, over-vaccination should be avoided. Annual boosters are not necessary in most cases, since core vaccines have a much longer duration of immunity than previously thought. Titer testing can determine whether or not a dog or cat is still protected against infectious diseases, so that boosters can be given only when absolutely necessary."

Here's the link to the article. Remember, vaccinations don't just quit on a certain day...please check with me prior to vaccinating your pups to ensure you don't run into RiverDog's "14-21 day NO admittance policy".

Sharing another gem Kathy sent to me. Just OMGOSH, I am wondering how many were maimed, lost or killed before they took this off the market. Definitely thinking outside the box...but with no real thought about the poor pups😱

THE DOG SACK was an invention that first appeared in the June 1935 issue of Popular Mechanics.

“When you take your dog along for a ride, but prefer not having it inside the car, it can ride safely and comfortably in this sack, which is carried on the running board. The bottom of the sack is clamped to the running board and the top is fastened to the lower part of an open window with hooks, covered with small rub- ber tubing to prevent marring the car.”

UPDATE!!!! ARROW IS HOME! She was located several miles out Gas Point Road yesterday (Sunday), when a wonderful lady posted and asked if anyone was missing a blk/wh pitbull, who was limping in her field!

Poor Arrow was terrified and traumatized, and SOOOOO HAPPY her mommy came and picked her up!

I just LOVE happy endings! She was missing for two full weeks!

Dear RiverDog Family and Friends ~

I am posting this for her family...the gate was on *their* property, not RiverDog's...sharing as a public service notice...

This sweet pup, approximately 2yrs old spayed, pit-x, named Arrow, escaped through a gate blown open and she went missing during that big wind storm on Sunday.

Her family is DESPERATE to find her!

Doggy DayCamp w/Kennel-free Boarding

Hey shouts out to the Cottonwood, Anderson and CalFire fire departments for responding to and stamping out a runaway fire that escaped another's property, and burned nearly half my property! ❤❤❤❤❤

There's still two trees smoldering, but they have been assessed as relatively safe and the Cottonwood FD will be making periodic nocturnal visits to monitor. I shall sleep easy knowing they are watching things🙏🏻

One cannot express fully the gratitude felt by me, and inhabitants of our little lane, for their heroic acts.

Thank yous and just heartfelt thanks to the crews and Captains who answered our SOS!

Special thanks to Phil and Victoria, clients of RiverDog. If not for Phil's quick actions several, or all of my beekeeper's beehives would have perished. Phil is an ex-firefighter, and both he and I were out on the line slapping down flames...but Phil ran straight for the hives and by mere inches he stopped the fire there🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 Poor Phil suffered a quick flash burn, which looked much better this evening, and numerous blisters on his hands. I only had dog bandages, so after thorough disinfecting, bandages were topped with vet wrap, lolol.

We might have lost quite a few baby oaks, 6/7 ft tall and the fence might need repair, but other than that, bet we'll have glorious wildflowers out on the knoll. But, I was scared, so scared for the Honeybees and the large oaks on the knoll. And FRUSTRATED, because my first 911 call was scoffed at, after being transfered 3x's (this *new* system sucks), and by the time I got through again and made them understand HELP meant HELP, trucks and water tanker trucks (sparkly new beauties❤🙏🏻) arrived within 15 minutes...from all the departments...after being misdirected to another address the first time by another caller🤷🤦‍♂️, anyway, all that time there's Phil slapping down flames and he saved the Honeybees❤🦋🐦❤🙏🏻 Hip-Hip Hooray for Phil🤸🎆👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

We are beyond grateful to everyone 🙏🏻❤☮

It's another PrimeTyme Tuesday DayCamp 😄💕

Thank you for bringing your babies down to RiverDog for play and love...all-important for socialization is dog-to-dog play in a safe and monitored space🙏🏻

Here's a bunch of old friends, all together again after day attendance switches, so the stars aligned and conditions were ripe💗

Of course, as you see with Piper and Shepard, there's some posturing-who's stronger, who's taller...I don't promote nor do I allow that type of play to continue for a long period. Shepard and Brodie frequently will do this, but it's different, they're not actually touching much...not shoving, as displayed here. So, I do break it up, and in this case Piper wasn't listening to me, so she came indoors (which she actually wanted anyway--she wanted her breakfast😄). When she goes back out, dollars to donuts, that behavior will be greatly reduced, just by breaking it up🤔❤

My people clients will be super happy today -- their babies will be allll played out😄😄😄

That's what DayCamp can do for *your* pup, also!

We still have a space or two available for Easter week, and before I start accepting new calls for Easter week, if someone has Easter plans, please get to me ASAP. I know a couple people have mentioned the need, but I have not received confirmation of dates and particulars yet?🤦🏻 So, if that's You, please get your dates in ASAP!!! I expect outside calls to get into high gear early March, so there's still time to get Easter week dates in✌🏻

Dear RiverDog Family and Friends ~

We just received a 1-Dog DeluxeGuest Boarding cancelation for February 11th-25th, sadly for medical reasons. It would be far to difficult to traverse foreign lands on crutches! I agree🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Thus, we have an opening those dates, if someone wants/needs them! Please reach out if you have need!

Additionally, I reiterate (and many have reached out for dates, thank you!), but if you or someone you might be referring has need for boarding between now and the Labor Day Holiday, PLEASE get those dates to me as soon as possible!

Pat and I are considering a possible vacation and we need everyone's dates in ASAP, so we may plan *our* escape!✌🏻🙏🏻💗☮

2024 ~ December 15th

Captain came for his first BAC today, and sweet Rubi invited him to a game of "Catch me if you Can"!!!!

Captain hasn't learned yet how to stretch it out...give me a couple of DayCamp days, and this half BC, half Labrador will begin to learn how to be an agile runner!😘👼😊😁

I hope everyone enjoyed the unexpected break between the storms today!
