This is the second time Deni has thrown a pup like this. Last year, the little female went to an amazing family. She turned out to be a STUNNING girl! I cannot wait to see how this girl turns out.

Leah had her litter! 8 total. 4 boys, 4 girls. As usual, everyone is doing great. Leah is an amazing mom.

Deni decided to have her puppies on Father's Day! 6 beautiful pups so far- we have not confirmed the genders yet. Momma and puppies are doing AMAZING. They will be ready to go at 8 weeks, which is August 10th. Just in time for hunting season!

Leah is expecting her pups this week. We will be contacting our waitlist, but I believe we will have a couple spots available. If you are interested, contact us. We have had great feedback from families who purchased Deni and Leah's pups in prior years.

Our beautiful Nova saved us from a mole today! 🤣 One thing that really attracted us to these dogs is their ability to hunt, then snuggle with the kids. After killing the mole, she is now watching the toddler run rampant in the living room.

Sometimes being a big, bad hunting dog also means pretending to be a momma dog to your toddler's toys 🤣 If you've met Nova, you know she is one of our best hunters and loves a good squabble. Yet, she is this gentle with our little one- those toys are very safe! 10/10 highly recommend the BMC.

Is it normal to have co-parenting disagreements with a BMC? Asking for a friend. But really, people ask if these dogs are good with kids. What is your experience?

We have a pack of BMC's, but this one is Nova. She and my little one are glued together at all times. My LO learned to walk by holding onto her collar. She snuggles with LO on the rug in front of the TV. Of course, when LO was learning to eat, Nova had to help clean up! Being an experienced hunting dog, I expect this dog to be the one who teaches my kiddo how to hunt squirrel, c**n, and coyote. I expect this dog to be the one who tracks that first deer downed. For right now, we will still have conversations when she interrupts my parenting. lol

Pro tip from one hunters wife to all the ladies in new relationships- if your man is spending more time in the field than with you, try using the deer scented deodorant (I like Lip Curl Scents ). This will make you smell good and super attractive. He won't be able to resist you! Or something like that. Either way, you'll get his attention!

Myth: Dogs cannot tell the difference between their toys and a child's toys.

Truth: Dogs will not differentiate their toys from a child's toys IF THEY ARE NOT TAUGHT.

This is Nova. As you can see, she has a rope toy that is an acceptable toy for her to play with. Beside her is a stuffed bunny and a shoe that our little one brought to her. Nova has been taught not to touch baby toys. So, as this bunny was tossed at her feet for safe keeping, she nudged the bunny off and was extra careful to only chew on her rope.

Part of our job as owners is to ensure these pups have proper training as they grow up into a respectful adult dog. This comes when you are consistent and watchful. Too many times, families get a dog and just let that dog get bigger. Weekend training does not work out well with a Black Mouth Cur. They need regular training. This is why we recommend keeping your pup in the house that first year. It helps your relationship with them and helps keep you on top of their training.

Lilly (2023 - Buckwheat x Deni) from Georgia

This girl has moved South to a farm with kids. I absolutely love getting updates from this family because Lilly shows exactly how smart a BMC is! Lilly has already figured out how to open doors and knows when her kids come and go. She is very intuitive and has been easy to train.

We have actually had a few people tell us that our pups have figured out how to work door k***s based on watching their owners. This is a very smart breed, so make sure your doors are locked!

Boone (2023 - Buckwheat x Nova)

This little boy has already taken over the bed! This family did a great job introducing pup to their older dog. Despite Boone's take charge personality (taking both the toys and the bed), the older dog has been accepting of him.

Keep in mind that older dogs may not like a young pup coming into their territory. Keep an eye out for aggression or possessiveness. Your pup is going to get a lot of attention, so make a point to give your older dog attention too. As with all young children, make sure your older dog has a place to get away from the pup when they have had enough!

Raven (2023 - Buckwheat x Nova) from Michigan

This is Raven, out of Buck and Nova's first litter. She is an absolute doll of a pup and is settling in very well with her new family. We cannot wait to see how she continues to grow!

Fun fact - Buck will not produce a B/T pup UNLESS the mother carries at least one copy of the B/T gene. Leah and Deni do not carry the B/T gene, so they will produce reds and yellows, but not B/T pups. However, Nova's sire carries one copy of the B/T gene and Nova happened to inherit that gene. This means that a litter between Buck and Nova will produce pups that are mostly red or yellow, with the occasional B/T pup.

Update: Rayne is doing much better!

We took a bit longer to respond the last week because we have been dealing with a sick dog. Rayne stopped eating and drinking last weekend. She became less active than usual. We immediately contacted our vet. No signs of fever or blood in the stool, so we began giving her electrolytes and attempting to feed her, but she was nauseous! No other dogs or puppies showed any signs of illness, but we continued to take biohazard measures.

We did take her to the vet last Monday where she was diagnosed with a mild case of Parvo. Keep in mind - Rayne is 100% vaccinated. She was given 2 bags of fluids and an anti-nausea injection. They kept her overnight. The next day she eating and drinking, and was barking her fool head off, so the vet sent her home - lol.

If you are not familiar with parvo, it is easily contracted by dogs and pups under 2 years old. It can be contracted in a yard where stray cats have passed or in the woods where rac**ns (or any other animal) have walked. Unpopular opinion: you can even get parvo from taking a pup to the vet where another dog has the virus.

I have contacted Durvet, Inc. who made the vaccine and they have confirmed that they do not guarantee their vaccines. I have already spoke to my vet and we will be changing vaccine companies based on this information. There are other vaccine companies who do cover the cost of treatment if your pup comes down sick.

Harvest (2023 - Buckwheat x Deni) from Texas

This is Harvest, out of Buck and Deni's first litter. She probably spends more time at the range than we do! This is what we strive to breed for - she is not bothered by loud noises or commotion. Instead, she is calmly waiting for a comman to go somewhere or do something. I can guarantee when that command comes, she is a completely different dog! Her family has done an amazing job with her.

We knew that Buck and Nova's litter was going to be very popular with the hunters on our waitlist and these pups (and their new families) have not disappointed!

This is Boone. He has been at his new home 24 hours and is already introduced to deer tracking! They shot a deer and took the opportunity to introduce Boone to what it looks and smells like. This is a great (and often overlooked) opportunity for young pups to learn what they are tracking instead of just learning how to track. So happy with this boy and what he is doing. Cannot wait to see how this boy progresses in his blood tracking career!

This is how you get blocked from Shaw Deer Recovery. I'm not covering his name because this was posted on a public group. This is "Steve", a navy seal from Zimbabwe who has a litter of pups for sale that looks exactly like Nova's litter - including the distressed wood floor in my living room.

The BMC world is very tight knit. We do not tolerate scammers.

All the pups passed their health check with the vet! This male decided to attack Courtney's mukluks while he was waiting for the vet to check him out. Genetics at work - you just can't stop their prey drive!

Rayne (2023 - Buckwheat x Leah) from Illinois

This is a female that we kept out of Leah's last litter. Courtney wanted a dog that would suit her - a pup eager to learn (a momma with a toddler has little patience for a stubborn dog), with enough natural ability to hunt whatever she wants to without being so driven that she must be under thumb constantly. Courtney took an interest in Rayne because she was "watchful." Even as a little pup, she would sit back a minute before jumping in to tackle a c**n tail or littermate.

Rayne has been the perfect BMC in every way. She is very intelligent and learns quickly, already obeying commands off leash. She also displays an amazing natural ability to hunt and track. We cannot wait to see how she continues to grow!
