About us: Homeward and Heavenbound

The Homeless Hound is the culmination of years of desire to help animals in need and those who are less fortunate or who deserve more than is afforded them in our society. The mission of the Homeless Hound is primarily to rescue last chance animals and give them a special purpose. To become emotional support animals for Veterans with PTSD, TBI, and generalized Anxiety Disorders. The goal is to train and donate the emotional support animal at no or low cost to the Veteran or other persons with disabilities. We specialize in emergency short-term fosters for individuals in transition who do not want to lose their beloved pet(s) to a shelter.

Our mission has an additional component and that is to serve the homeless humans in our community as well. The Homeless Hound seeks to employ homeless persons on a day to day, semi-permanent or part-time basis to help anyone seeking a second chance or fresh start. The added bonus is the therapeutic benefits of interacting with the dogs and other animals; scientifically proven to reduce stress and anxiety and improve symptoms of depression.

While The Homeless Hound is a non-profit organization, we do not rely solely on donations to support the rescue and its mission. In addition to donations, we offer a line of pet products, boarding and daycare services with an eye to sustainability. Our website ships to all 50 states. We partner with our sister organization Jeremiah 29:11 Gifts which donates 60% of sales to the Homeless Hound.
