Meet Absolute Joy! 

This energetic, 1-year-old German Shepherd mix is the definition of pure happiness. With her sweet personality and big bark, she’s a softy at heart who just wants to be your best friend. Absolute Joy is always thrilled to see you, and though she's working on her manners (she might jump for joy when she greets you!), it’s just because she can’t contain her excitement! 

Absolute Joy is an enthusiastic chewer who loves her chew toys, especially when they come with tasty treats. Cod sticks, yak chews, and bully sticks are some of her favorites! She’s also crazy about her snuffle mat – meal times are even more exciting when she gets to enjoy her food while working for it. Absolute Joy has a playful side, and although she’s not into fetch, she’s always ready to run around and have a blast outside. 

She’s a natural adventurer and would be the perfect hiking companion. 🐕 Nature is her happy place,☀️ and she’s always up for exploring new trails with you. This sweetheart is ready to go to her forever home.

Mila is a bundle of love packed into a petite, 45-pound pittie mix body. At around six years old, Mila is past the puppy stage but still full of life and charm. This girl’s ideal day? Belly rubs, a tasty cheese treat (her absolute favorite!), and some quality time with her people on the couch—she’s a certified snuggle expert.🤓

Found alone in an abandoned house, Mila’s past remains a mystery, but her heart is wide open to the future. She’s well-mannered in the home, is house trained, and has already learned a few fun tricks like “sit” and “paw”—she’s eager to please, especially when treats are involved! Mila also walks well on a leash and loves the outdoors. We’re even working on her fetch game; she’s excited to chase the ball and bring it back like a pro.

If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who’ll be your couch buddy and walking partner, Mila is the perfect match. She’s ready to fill your home with wiggles, kisses, and endless love.

6 things I wish I considered before I adopted a dog…

🕒 Are you active, homebodies, or always on the go? Different breeds and personalities require different levels of exercise, attention, and energy.

⏳Dogs need time for walks, play, training, and companionship. Are you ready to adjust your schedule for them?

💰From vet visits, food, grooming, and supplies, dogs can be costly. Make sure you’re prepared for both routine care and unexpected expenses.

🏠Do you live in an apartment, house, or have a yard? Consider how much room your future pup will need to live happily.

🤧Check for pet allergies and ensure everyone in the household is on board with adopting and helping care for a dog. Consider how a new dog will fit into your existing pet family. Proper introductions and patience are key!

❤️Adopting is a beautiful choice, but ask yourself: Are you ready to love, care, and provide for a dog, no matter what challenges come along?

Introducing

Familiar Hearts Animal Society is a small but growing organization dedicated to providing quality care for animals, ensuring they are fully prepared for their forever homes.

While they may have fewer animals than larger rescues, they are always in need of loving foster and adoptive homes for those under their care, as there is always another animal in need whom they are eager to assist. Every product sold throughout January and February will help support the animals at Familiar Hearts Animal Society.

Fun fact this is not a dogs only rescue they also help cats,bunnies and more! 🐶😺🐰

Have you met Bitsy?

Bitsy is a one year old bully mix weighing approximately 50 lbs. 🐶

She is great with other dogs and even likes cats. 😺 She is housebroken and crate trained. She would do best with older kids because she doesn’t realize how strong she is and might knock down a small child with her exuberance.

There are no strangers in Bitsy’s world. She loves everyone she meets. 💕 She was found as a stray. When she was rescued, she had a terrible case of demodex, but with loving care and dedicated veterinary care, she is all healed up and ready to roll.

Have you heard the news about Snowy and Moses?

We posted these two cuties in August and guess what they are still looking for their forever home.💔

Snowy was badly matted, and had been attacked by a bigger dog. It permanently injured her back legs or a nerve in her back so sometimes she loses bowel and p*e control. She has adorable incontinent pants to use, and she can walk and run with joy. She uses a doggie door and every time she goes out she will go to the bathroom, so it seems to be more of an issue when she is excited or playing. She is just 4 years old, and her life partner is Moses.

Moses a male who is 8 years old. He is the black and white dog in the pictures with the dapper bow tie.🎀 They are such sweet dogs and have had a rough life until they were rescued recently. It’s time to change things for the better for this pair of pals.

Who is this cutie?

Meet Lizzie a Chihuahua mix, maybe with some Dachshund or Corgi genes, too. She is an adult girl, but the estimates have been between 2 and 5 years old. She is 19 lbs. and just as sweet as can be!

🏠 House & crate trained
🚗 Travels well in the car
🚫 not a Barker

Lizzie ADORES her little stuffed toys and has a particular little mouse friend she likes to carry around everywhere she goes! 🐁

Lizzie was rescued from the streets of Puerto Rico after a dog loving couple noticed her wandering for a couple of weeks and clearly without anyone caring for her. They kindly took this little girl into their home and fostered her with their own two dogs whom she did just fine with. She had all her medical needs attended to with our rescue partners which included repair of a cherry eye (a pr*****ed gland)

Lizzie is well behaved, calm and LOVES to be with people! She gets along with other dogs but would likely be quite happy soaking up all the attention as an only dog too. She is currently fostered with a small male dog and a cat whom after the first few days of not being sure what to make of her, they now snuggle on the couch together.
