❤❤In loving memory of my Lt. Dan, our sweet Magnolia, and now, the amazing Marti Thunderclap.❤❤
It is with an unbearably heavy heart and countless tears that I bring you this news. Mart Thunderclap has joined Lt. Dan and Magnolia at The Rainbow Bridge.
She was such an amazing cat; a real fighter. When I first adopted her, I was told the brain damage she sustained as a kitten would prevent her having much of a life... It was NOT true. Yes, she had brain damage from the abuse, but Praise God, she overcame it. She fought on. Endured. Kept on carrying on! A real trooper. An 💕Amazing cat! 💕 And she did it with such panache!!!
She endured daily medications, pills, injections.. her life wasn't easy, but nothing fazed her. She LOVED her life, she was such a happy cat. She beat the odds, and made a lot of friends along the way!
Did you know she played the piano?
She also could find her was up and down stairs through echo-locution (hope I spelled that correctly!)
One of my favorite memories is when I was assembling a 3-tier kitty-tree. She was so interested in what this new different smell was. I told her to stay back; that I would put her on it later. It was too dangerous for her to get on unsupervised. Then I bent down to get the other finishing screws. Well, I don't mind telling you how shocked I was when I turned back to the "tree,: and she was on the TOP TIER! Got there ALL BY HERSELF!! AND she looked like the cat who ate the canary: she was SO PROUD of herself!! Marti was never a "disabled" cat---she was a wonder-cat! ❤❤❤
The folks at Best Friends Animal Rescue, in Utah, had told me she would never be able to do this because of brain damage. I am here to tell you not only could she do it, but she did it masterfully. ❤❤
There are so many truly inspiring things she accomplished! I wanted to write a lot, but unfortunately, someone has complained and I may lose Lt. Dan's --and his siblings' (Magnolia and Marti Thumderclap) page. I hope not.
It has been quite a journey. I wish I had not succumbed to profound depression after the loss of the Lt, my father, my beloved friend Jacob, (with whom I rescued the Lieutenant), and then Magnolia. My mom passed away too. Following all these losses, I couldn't cope, and stopped caring for- and monitoring- this page.
I'm so sorry to those of you who followed the Lieutenant, his diabetic friend Magnolia (the Miracle Cat), and of course, Blind Marti Thunderclap, the Unstoppable. I know I let you down when I quasi-abandoned my upkeep of the page. I humbly ask your forgiveness. Please understand I was consumed by my profound grief.
I send you all purrs, kitty cuddles, and smiles, and I hope to be back posting about my little Katy-kitty, with the birthdefect of a deformed spine. (I'll have you know she IS able to pull herself up on the sofa, the bed, and the smaller cat tree!! You go, Katy-kitty!!! ❤)
