❤❤In loving memory of my Lt. Dan, our sweet Magnolia, and now, the amazing Marti Thunderclap.❤❤

It is with an unbearably heavy heart and countless tears that I bring you this news. Mart Thunderclap has joined Lt. Dan and Magnolia at The Rainbow Bridge.
She was such an amazing cat; a real fighter. When I first adopted her, I was told the brain damage she sustained as a kitten would prevent her having much of a life... It was NOT true. Yes, she had brain damage from the abuse, but Praise God, she overcame it. She fought on. Endured. Kept on carrying on! A real trooper. An 💕Amazing cat! 💕 And she did it with such panache!!!
She endured daily medications, pills, injections.. her life wasn't easy, but nothing fazed her. She LOVED her life, she was such a happy cat. She beat the odds, and made a lot of friends along the way!
Did you know she played the piano?
She also could find her was up and down stairs through echo-locution (hope I spelled that correctly!)

One of my favorite memories is when I was assembling a 3-tier kitty-tree. She was so interested in what this new different smell was. I told her to stay back; that I would put her on it later. It was too dangerous for her to get on unsupervised. Then I bent down to get the other finishing screws. Well, I don't mind telling you how shocked I was when I turned back to the "tree,: and she was on the TOP TIER! Got there ALL BY HERSELF!! AND she looked like the cat who ate the canary: she was SO PROUD of herself!! Marti was never a "disabled" cat---she was a wonder-cat! ❤❤❤
The folks at Best Friends Animal Rescue, in Utah, had told me she would never be able to do this because of brain damage. I am here to tell you not only could she do it, but she did it masterfully. ❤❤
There are so many truly inspiring things she accomplished! I wanted to write a lot, but unfortunately, someone has complained and I may lose Lt. Dan's --and his siblings' (Magnolia and Marti Thumderclap) page. I hope not.
It has been quite a journey. I wish I had not succumbed to profound depression after the loss of the Lt, my father, my beloved friend Jacob, (with whom I rescued the Lieutenant), and then Magnolia. My mom passed away too. Following all these losses, I couldn't cope, and stopped caring for- and monitoring- this page.

I'm so sorry to those of you who followed the Lieutenant, his diabetic friend Magnolia (the Miracle Cat), and of course, Blind Marti Thunderclap, the Unstoppable. I know I let you down when I quasi-abandoned my upkeep of the page. I humbly ask your forgiveness. Please understand I was consumed by my profound grief.

I send you all purrs, kitty cuddles, and smiles, and I hope to be back posting about my little Katy-kitty, with the birthdefect of a deformed spine. (I'll have you know she IS able to pull herself up on the sofa, the bed, and the smaller cat tree!! You go, Katy-kitty!!! ❤)

I just had to share this! Animal-loving people are awesome--and CLEVER!! 😆 🤣

I'd like to do this for my kitties! I have one windows eat with a cat bed in it. They fussed so much over who gets to use it, I have had to put it away until I can figure out how to enlarge the space!!

GENIUS!

RIGHT!!!!

To everyone bitching about Texas Roadhouse allowing that dog who was deployed twice, to eat a steak in the restaurant on Veterans Day, I'd rather sit next to him than rowdy, bratty kids all day long. I can guarantee that dog is cleaner and more quiet. He isn’t up being allowed to run around like he (and his parents) were raised in a barn!

Marti is not feeling too well this morning. I'm glad today is a "shot" day. The injections really seem to make her feel a lot better- so much in fact, that she will sit and wait (sususlly patiently, but she can be VERY insistant and vocal when I'm not as quick as she wants😹!)
She seems to knows she gets it every other day, right after her pills, and she actually goes and waits by the medicine cart!
Random thought: when I first took her in, I was warned that because of the abuse she suffered as a kitten she was brain damaged and would be developmentally challenged. I was told she probably wouldn't learn to echo locate, et cetera. Hmmm... I don't know.... If she's brain damaged, I'd hate to see how smart she would have been had she not been abused! She'd be writing code for NASA maybe!? 😸

I don't know if anybody still follows lieutenant Dan's page or not, or even remembers him. I have been gone for the past 3 to 4 years because I was taking care of my mother. She was very sick for a long time and which required around-the-clock care. I had no time for Facebook anymore, so I've only been on a few times until the last 2 days. I have missed all of the wonderful people who were Lieutenant Dan's friends, and therefore became my friends, too.

Several followers had asked me if I would ever adopt another cat. Well, my vet didn't leave it up to me! She called me and said she had a favor to ask of me... The favor was to take in a feral cat/kitten that was born with a deformed spine. Another of her clients had brought it in and asked her to take it because they didn't know what to do except turn it in to Animal control, (who would definitely euthanize her). Not being able to run, jump, or defend herself, she could not go back to her feral colony.
Result: I now have another special needs cat! God works in mysterious ways--through my vet!

Those of you who have followed us for a long time, also may remember that I had a blind cat named Marti. You'll be happy to know that she is still with me, and even though she has hepatitis, and gets injections 3x-a-week and pills every day, she is a real trooper!! She has a great zest for life, and she doesn't let anything get her down. She must have learned that from Lt. Dan! ❤
I named her Katie, after my vet!, but I should have named her Mae West, because she has the same sashaying swing in the hips! 😆 She is also quite a lovely and snuggle-y baby when the mood strikes her! (Truly amazing because she was feral and did not come into a house until she was beyond what is considered a trainable age. The vet thinks she was 6 or 7 months old--considered too old to be domesticated).
