We opened our doors publicly in 2005. Since then we have rescued a wide range of animals in need. The animals have been in various conditions. We have successfully rehabbed and re-homed 100's of large animals over the years. In the past few years, we have taken on a lot of large birds. We have also taken in many reptiles. We have added a lot of cages and tanks to our storage supplies. We will assi

st any animal that the shelter can not. We have equipment, cages, enclosures and food for everything from horses to lizards. We have a volunteer that has great knowledge of bird care, a volunteer that has a great knowledge of reptile care, a volunteer that has great knowledge of small animal care, volunteers that have special training and knowledge of large animal care, volunteers that have special training and knowledge of exotic animal care....and together....they are a great group for knowledge of animal behavior, care, and rehab.

If you haven't heard are are not from the Great Cincinnati area....Warren County Ohio Fair Grounds has housed race horses for as long as I can remember. Harness racing events are held there. Well, they were held there. The owners of these horses that have been boarded at the barn were given eviction notices. Over 300 horses have to find a new barn in under 30 days now. The Warren County Fair Board has decided to stop harness racing and close the barns. They will be losing over $600,000 a year in boarding fees, per one news story I read. They will be losing more than that in racing proceeds. The local economy will be losing feed sales, hay sales, vet care, farrier care and much more. It has been estimated that 1,200 people will be affected by this.

While, I understand that the economy is tight, I do not understand this. The Fair Board pays electric, water, insurance and maintenance on the barns. I can't imagine the bills being more than the rent collected.

With all of the concerns, I am concerned for the horses. It is not easy to find a boarding barn with space in 30 days or less. From what I have read, other harness racing barns near the area have a total of 18 open stalls. Where do the other, close to 300 horses go? How many of these horses will end up in bad situations.

If they do not approve of harness racing, then they should stop the racing and still allow the boarding of the horses. If they have other plans for the space, then they should give several months notice to allow people to find space for the horses.

I signed the petition. If you feel the same way, then I invite you to sign the petition as well. Since I am not a local resident, I doubt that my signature will mean as much to the Fair Board as a local resident signature would mean, but hopefully it will mean something to just see how many people disagree with their decision.

Efforts are underway to stop a Warren County agriculture group from evicting hundreds of harness horses and their trainers.

Anyone looking for rabbits? They seem to keep coming in lately. It appears someone dumped some near us as well. We have trapped one, we heard of one down the street trapped and there is still one running loose. If you want us to take your rabbits, just knock on the door or message us, don't drop them so that they can cause havoc in the neighborhood and then likely be hit by a car.

🚨URGENT NEED OF DRY DOG FOOD AND DRY CAT FOOD🚨

We offer a pet food pantry for low income families in our community. Unfortunately, we are having a hard time keeping enough food in it to keep up with the need. We do not want to see animals go unfed or families have to make a hard decision to give their pet up due to financial hardships.

If you are able to donate a bag or two, we would really appreciate it. We do not mind the brand and bags can be opened, but food must be original bags.

We have created an Amazon wish list to make donating to this program easier. You can find the link here: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/FIW6OXTK4HNX?ref_=wl_share

You can also ship dog food through Walmart and Kroger deliveries. Or you can set up auto-shipments through Amazon or Chewy, so you donate as often as you would like without having to lift a finger!

Thank you for your support to not only us, but your neighbor in need. 💙

I was so excited to help quite a few people on our trip. We are back home now. Friends took a load to TN and one to NC this week as well. If we all band together, everyone will get through these horrible disasters! Thank you to everyone that donated to us so that we could help others!

13/10/2024

We will be Florida Bound later tonight or early tomorrow. We have a load of donations to take to those in need. We also donated some to other relief efforts going to TN and NC. We all need to work together to get through these horrible events. If you would like to donate to our load, you can send donations through paypal or venmo. If you would like to donate to TN or NC see Lawrence Motorsports in Aurora, IN. They are filling multiple trailers to take and working with the Governor of TN to find appropriate places to take the load to so that they can be carried into those that can not get out.

To my friends and family affected by the recent hurricanes...don't forget to apply for the basic assistance. There is $750 for emergency assistance (food, clothes, etc) and I saw somewhere that they are giving $1,200 if your power was out for an extended period of time. While none of this is much compared to what you are experiencing, it is something. Don't just let it go. Then apply for any repairs that you need. Anything your insurance does not cover. Get all of the assistance you are entitled to. If we can send aid to other countries, then everyone here deserves to collect what is being offered.

You can find more information on the Coronavirus (COVID-19) page and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website.

We have family and friends that are about to be affected by hurricane Milton. We will be traveling down after the all clear is given. We are looking for hay, grain, rabbit feed, chicken feed, dog food, cat food, gas cans, water, non-perishable food, baby food, diapers, wipes, etc. We will be dropping off to each location to distribute to the communities there.

The locations we plan to visit are Eustis, Umatilla, Palm Bay, Buckhead Ridge, Fort Myers, Sarasota, Lakeland and Madison. Some of these areas were hit with Helene and are now offering to help the areas about to be hit by Milton. If by some miracle, Milton decides to go the other way, we will be working with a group in Tennessee to get these supplies to them.

All of our stops are to locations we know and have contacts with. Please do not self deploy to any location. If you want to load up supplies and travel to affected areas, please contact an organization in the area to coordinate with. If you don't have knowledge of an organization in the affected area, please let us know. We might be able to hook you up with one. If you have family that are affected and need supplies, please contact us and we will try to get to them.

If you prefer to donated cash, we are also accepting cash to purchase these items. We are 501c3 and your donations are tax deductible. You can donate through
