If you remember, we partnered with the Bedford County Humane Society and took Murdoch into our care. And now Murdoch is going to be the GRAND MARSHAL at BOARDWADDLE 2025!

This case is still working its way through the courts system and is a great example of how much work still needs to be done to protect animals. And it definitely takes a village to fulfill our mission to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome hounds in need!

This annual fundraiser is on Saturday, February 1st from 12:00 to 4:00pm at Westbrook Lanes Family Bowling Center in Brooklawn, NJ. Cost is $25 per person* and includes:

- 2 hours of bowling
- Shoe rental
- Pizza, snacks, soft drinks
- Raffle baskets
- Trophies/medals for the bowling winners!

As the year draws to a close, we at Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue want to take a moment to reflect on some incredible journeys that have unfolded in this past month of December. Today, we want to share three very special stories with you: CODY, ELLIE MAE and PANDA. These precious hounds represent why our mission matters and why we need your continued support.

CODY came to us after being struck by a car in Louisiana. His pelvis was shattered, his injuries were extensive, and he required emergency surgery to repair his broken bones and internal damage. The road to recovery will be long for CODY. Thanks to the wonderful staff and dedication of our veterinary partners at Louisiana State University, CODY is on his way to recovery in a medical foster home. CODY is a sweet boy whose wagging tail is a testament to the power of second chances. We will continue to provide updates on CODY as he heals and makes progress.

ELLIE MAE found herself at a local shelter in Mississippi. She became very ill, very quickly, and no one knew exactly why. She was rushed to Mississippi State University, where many tests were performed. ELLIE MAE was diagnosed with a zygomatic salivary mass behind her eyes. During a CT scan, it was also discovered that ELLIE MAE had been shot four times in her life, with birdshot still lodged in her body. ELLIE MAE is responding beautifully to treatment, and we expect her condition to be manageable. If it recurs, she may require surgical intervention. She’s currently recovering in foster care, and while her journey isn’t over, we’re committed to seeing her through. To add to these challenges, both CODY and ELLIE MAE are heartworm positive and will need to undergo treatment.

Sweet little PANDA has a sad story. PANDA was adopted five years ago when he and his basset best friend were homeless. His basset buddy has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge, but PANDA's world was turned upside down once again when his beloved owner passed away. At 9 years old, PANDA found himself in a situation he never expected, grieving and without a place to call home. Today, PANDA is receiving the love and attention he deserves while we search for his perfect forever family.

Caring for dogs like CODY, ELLIE MAE, and PANDA requires resources, dedication, and an incredible community of supporters. Veterinary care, specialized treatments, rehabilitation, and day-to-day needs like food and medications add up quickly. CODY and ELLIE MAE's medical care alone has cost over $20,000, and their medical journeys are not yet over! As we plan for the year ahead, we’re asking for your help to ensure we can continue saving and supporting bassets in need. Tri-State is fortunate to be able to take on severe medical cases like these, but we cannot continue to do so without your support.
