Good video on why many of us may not have been providing the best care over the years.
I have made a point to provide larger tubs for each of my geckos as well as a humid hide for all the geckos (not just laying females). They all take a liking to their humid hide and I would say they spend more than 75% of their time in their humid hides year round.
All we can do as breeders and keepers is provide these animals with options and micro- climates inside their enclosures. Give them the option to be:
1. Warm and dry
2. Room temp and dry
3. Warm and humid
4. Room temp and humid.
I believe this to be best provided in the 28-32 qt tubs. I am now solely using the 15qt tubs as grow-out tubs for geckos I am raising up as future breeders or that are waiting to be sold. Even in the 15qt, I am now providing humid hides.
Let me know your thoughts. I think it is fascinating to see how easily adaptable these little guys are!
