12 large fresh eggs

Got a surprise rooster or two in your flock? 🐓 If you’re in a situation where crowing isn’t allowed (like having nearby neighbors or an attentive landlord), here are a few ways to help reduce their noise—though, fair warning, it's hard to fully silence that morning ‘cock-a-doodle-doo!’

1️⃣ Darkened Rooster Box: Try a low-roofed, dark crate or box for nighttime. This keeps them from stretching and crowing as the sun rises. Just make sure they’re still comfortable and have fresh air!

2️⃣ Crow Collar: A properly-fitted crow collar gently limits how loudly they can crow. It doesn’t stop them entirely, but it can make it quieter! Be sure to follow fitting instructions carefully for their comfort and safety.

3️⃣ Rehoming: If noise is still an issue, consider finding them a new home. Local farms or other chicken keepers might be looking for roosters, especially if they have room for them to free range.

1 tbsp soy sauce
