Rowan knows how to find his own joy! 💫 Whether it’s chasing his turbo ball, batting around a ping pong ball, or pouncing on a spring toy, this playful boy always has “a ball” entertaining himself. When it’s time to recharge, he curls up in a round scratcher bed or lounges on a cat tower. And when he’s ready for affection, he melts under gentle strokes from head to tail — his fur feels just like silk.

Adoption Announcement 🧡

Sweet Clover has found her forever home in Wilmington, NC! Her new mom says, “She’s definitely a love bug!” This cuddly girl now spends her nights snuggled close, bringing warmth and comfort to her family.

She’s also being gently introduced to her new feline friend, who lost a companion and had been feeling down. We just know Clover’s tender heart will help lift his spirits and fill their home with purrs and joy.

Does anyone else think Blanco looks like he just stepped straight out of the jungle? Maybe a white lion in disguise?

He moves with the grace of a lion and the speed of a cheetah—leaping, pouncing, and capturing his “prey” (aka toys) with wild precision.

You might be thinking, “Wait a second… I’ve seen that beautiful face before!”
And you’d be right — she’s the wonderful adopter who welcomed Cider (now Marlin) into her home!
After a short time together, she realized that Marlin would be happiest sharing his days with one of his siblings. So, congratulations to Blackjack — now Tuna! 🐾
We’re overjoyed knowing these two brothers will spend their lives side by side, surrounded by love and care. Marlin’s been keeping one side of Mom warm at night… now Tuna can keep the other side toasty!

Adoption joy for sweet Harvest! 🧡💛🖤

This little beauty has found her forever home with a young woman who was looking for the perfect friend for her older kitten, Pumpkin Spice. Her family has a huge heart for felines and have rescued strays who are now a part of their family. They also celebrate each furry friend’s birthday! Harvest is one lucky girl!

Happy Halloween!! We made a quick but meaningful trip to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 96th birthday which is today — and tomorrow, little Porch turns 6 weeks old!

She absolutely loved doting on this tiny traveler, who took the whole adventure in stride like a seasoned pro.

Oreo had a rough start to life, living outside with an upper respiratory infection. A very caring, loving family brought him into their home to show him the love he never knew. They contacted us, and, we brought him to Nahimana.

Although Oreo has had health issues off and on, his spirit has remained resilient, easy-going, and loving. He’s kind of goofy which makes us smile daily, and he is so soft and cuddly to hold.

We’re looking for an experienced cat loving family to give him the opportunity to live his best life. He’s such a wonderful furry friend.

We’re so grateful for the amazing care our kittens are receiving while we’re away for a few days!

Sandy feeds, cuddles, cleans, and gives them all the love they could dream of — and she even purchased a Nahimana t-shirt to support us! 🐾

Thank you, Sandy, for all you do for Nahimana! Your obvious love for the felines gives us a little respite to recharge and the confidence that all will be okay when we return.
All proceeds from our Nahimana shop go directly toward the care of our rescues.

Nahimana Forest Animal Sanctuary

We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization in the state of North Carolina, dedicated to serving the needs of abandoned/neglected animals. Though our initial focus is rescuing and providing adoptive services for kittens, our future expansion will allow us to work with other domesticated and, some, farm animals. Additionally, we maintain a Certified Wildlife Habitat on our 22 acres of forest land.

Because we are all connected at the deeper part of our existence, our service for animals and the land stems from our messages of the worthiness of all living creatures and ways in which we are bound together. We complete the circle of this sanctuary as licensed foster parents for girls who have experienced neglect, by providing the opportunity for shared healing, respect, and responsibilities for, and with, animals and nature.
